  1. Thank you for all your kind words! Thinking about it, while the compass is awesome, since this is supposed to be a "What if this set was released today?", I feel the exclusion of the compass piece is reasonable, given the mold has been retired for over 25 years. Though I ought to add a small, printed one maybe. EKnight
  2. Thank you! I would have to steal more of those cables from the 3 in 1 Viking ship, which I don't have much issue with. I used two as it emulated what the Creator 3 in 1 Pirate ship did, but I see your point. 3 would also look more accurate to the original set. I completely forgot about the compass! Sadly I don't have any extras, but I may be able to steal from another ship. Maybe. Not sure if I actually have any that don't belong to a built set. @Horation I feel the middeck is tall enough as it is, it already looses some of the sleekness that I feel the original has. Trying to emulate a modern set, using plates I don't think would work, and this is a little tribute to the 10210 Imperial Flagship, which used the same technique. Admittedly it's slightly hidden there. Yeah, I'm not completely sold on the way the figure head attaches either. Needs some tinkering, for sure. EKnight
  3. Updated! See first post! I would love to, but yeah, the cost is very high. I've been wanting to acquire more for years for reasons like this. I do own two, but as you can see above, they are both used on the original ship. EKnight
  4. I went ahead and made a custom sail, I feel it turned out great, I'll have pictures up later this day. I did end up coving that bit of green that was poking through, the slight change on the inside of the ship is hardly noticeable, but looks a lot better on the outside. I also noticed a tiny bit or red poking through as well, fixed that up as well. I doubt I would buy custom sails when I can just make my own, though those prices are better then most official Lego sails, I bet. Some of them are getting quite pricey! AS per your suggestion, I added a little cubby below the stern where the pirates can store some ill gotten gains, as well as updating the cannon as another used suggested. EKnight
  5. Thank you, I'm very happy with the results of it. EKnight
  6. I did put a couple of gems in the barrel, yes. a Pirate's got to have booty! Adding a hidey hole under the stern... didn't think about that. I'm going to tinker with it later. If I did hide that bit of green on the outer hull, then the inner wall wouldn't be green, due to this part being used to help keep the railing attached. IT could be swapped with black, but I didn't have any available. I might have some of these in black, but then I would loose the green on the inside, which I like. I'll see what I can do about a cloth sail, but I am unsure how I can get a skull on it. I've printed on cloth before with my old printer, and had mixed results. Have yet to test with my new one. And I'm no artist. Hmm..... EKnight
  7. The Fabuland chairs were actually used in the 4+ Spiderman sets, so it's actually perfectly in the time frame. and The Fabuland roof parts I believe were used in the Mickey Mouse sets from a few years prior, so roughly the same time era. When you think about it, Fabuland was quite <insert that tiresome argument> itself, just done better than later themes. Then I did exactly what I set out to do! EKnight
  8. The Imperial Flagship has gotten a makeover, and is ready to sail the seas again! I didn't have 6271 growing up, but I did acquire it in a used lot in 2010, so it's really one of my oldest Pirate sets at this point, and first classic ship I got since my Cross Bone Clipper in 1998. I just knew I had to update it. It has about 530 parts, plus the minifigs, so around twice the piece count of the original. Not bad when compared to the PoBB to the BSB, or the Eldorado Fortresses Imperial Flagship Redux V2 by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Imperial Flagship Redux V2 by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr I'm extremely happy with how I was able to make the hull essentially the same size as the small hulls, though it really annoys my that a certain inverted curved slope does not appear in reddish brown. Had to use dark brown. Imperial Flagship Redux V2 by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Imperial Flagship Redux V2 by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr I've touched up the headfigure a bit so it's more smooth. 9. It was actually harder than anticipated, mostly due to my lack of 4+ prefab parts. EKnight
  10. Wonderful update! I was hoping I would see an Islander set updated! It's instantly recognizable! My favorite little detail is how you didn't forgot the little waterfall that was printed on the raised baseplate, it looks perfect. As a couple others mention, putting water under the bridge would be an improvement, it's really one thing that the set should have had, but was limited by the baseplates used. EKnight
  11. I'm usually pretty trepid myself about modifying parts, but sometimes I just need something that Lego doesn't produce. And I ended up using an already damaged flag, as one of the clips was already broken, so I didn't feel as bad. I do agree there are a lot of cannon designs out there, but I am partial to this one, as it is my own design. EKnight
  12. [Sarcastic Mode on] Alright, so here's my latest and greatest MOC ever! I put so much time and effort into this Pirate Inn, It's sure to win it all and everything!!!!1! Pirate's Inn Harry Hardtack, Jolly Jack Crow, and Drake Dagger are bushed from all their pillaging and plundering! What better place to relax than at Tina's Pirate Inn? Pirate's Inn Harry Hardtack is ready to load the shipment of rum at the docks! Pirate's Inn Visit the inside of the Tina's Inn! Pirate's Inn Uh oh! Looks like Drake Dagger has riled up Tina! She looks angry as a orca! Maybe they will make up their difference later in that comfy looking bed? Pirate's Inn Jolly Jack Crow is using both his hands to their best ability! too bad he doesn't have two mouths for all that rum! Pirate's Inn Looks like Harry Hardtack is saving some treasure for later! Is this the greatest and bestest MOC I ever builded? EKnight [Sarcastic Mode off]
  13. Neither, actually. It's a regular flag that I took a red sharpie to the outside. I don't plan on making instructions, I never have, but I certainly can take some blown up shots to see the building techniques. I'm not really either, but I'm getting a backlog of MOCs that need some sails made, and I was feeling lazy. They are pretty much based on the Creator pirate ship 3 in 1, including the skull. EKnight
  14. I don't own it, but I am 90% sure it would be too small. EKnight
  15. Thank you! I tried to do the swords, but couldn't find a satisfactory way to do it. EKnight
  16. I have two other entries waiting for parts to come in from Bricklink, but this one I managed to get all complete. It wasn't the first one I thought of, but it was one I knew I had to do. Cross Bone clipper was my first pirate ship, and one of my oldest sets, so I have a special fondness for it. 17. Based on this new information about the Blacktron and Bionicle GWP on July 11th, I think I'll wait until then to order mine. Oh, and it looks like double VIP at that time, too. Bonus! EKnight
  18. I've got two entries now built, waiting on Bricklink orders to show up to finish them. Now working on a third. So exciting! EKnight
  19. Wow! it looked great virtually, but it looks STUNNING in the brick! Well done! EKnight
  20. Thank you! The model is actually pretty heavy, but the stand was a quick, 10 second build. So maybe? It was actually a suggestion by my wife to put it there. I originally had it blank, much like the Blacktron sets had. It was an excellent suggestion. EKnight

  22. Here's some of mine from the past that would be great inspiration: Horshwaddle update by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr HMS Fate by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr HMS Flamand by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Cross Bone Dingy by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr HMS Faithful by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr I'm actually thinking of redoing the HMS Fate as one of my entries. Starting from scratch, of course. That ship is still built, and getting a bit old and dusty. EKnight
  23. I was looking at my Lego TIE Defender set, and I thought, that is ripe for the Blacktronizing. Blacktron 2 TIE Defender Blacktron 2 TIE Defender Blacktron 2 TIE Defender Blacktron 2 TIE Defender EKnight
