  1. Both? Also, Blacktron spaceships. And the tan parts are good for ports, landscaping. But black parts in particular are great for almost anything, but Blacktron in particular. EKnight
  2. After buying and building The Endurance, a few things come out at me. First, the positives: 1. It was a very enjoyable build! 2. While it's obviously not a golden age of sail sailing vessel, it is still a wonderful set to behold, and will sit proudly upon my shelf. 3. I have never wanted a second copy of a set so badly for the parts. Such a great parts pack, for my building wants, at any rate. Now, the negatives, which is really only one: The main sails don't looks great. They sit too flat, but not perfectly flat. Every review, every image I have seen it's all the same. If Lego had made the sails just a tiny bit taller, so they could billow in the wind, or even if the top two were like the bottom one, where they only attached to 2 points, the top, instead of 4, it would look so much better. Other than that, I love this set, I highly recommend it, and I will likely try to get a second copy for the parts at some point. EKnight
  3. While it may not be minifig scale, would it really look out of place next to most of Lego's ships? Maybe, maybe not. It's certainly a different looking boat. Is till like it, and will likely get it. Maybe it will look good next to the 398/10021 USS Constellation set? (Probably not, the two have HUGELY different builds. But the scales seem similar. I'll probably get it. It's still cool enough for me. Day 1 purchase? maybe, depends how much I like the GWP. EKnight
  4. A wonderful little support vessel for the Barracuda! The use of the bananas is brilliant, and looks pretty good! The only bit of criticism I can offer, is the attachment for the staysail in the front looks a bit... janky. I feel there may be a better way, but if stabilty is what you are after, that may be difficult. EKnight
  5. Lego is pretty good at keeping things under wraps up until close to the release date. Look at Eldorado Fortress. I wouldn't expect Lego to release anything until a week or two in advance. Leaks are another thing entirely. Those could appear anywhere at any time.
  6. Congratulations to the other winners, and to Mister Phes for running the whole contest. All the winning MOCs were excellent, and so were plenty that didn't win. EKnight
  7. I'm always checking Flickr, I would be happy to help there. EKnight
  8. A contest's success should be judged on the number of MOCs submitted, not the amount of the votes cast. If a contest has 100 entries, but only 10 people vote for the winners, I would consider that a success. If a contest had 10 entries, and 100 people voting, I would not consider that a success, even if the 10 entries were all spectacular. Obviously the winner is picked more fairly if more people vote, but a contests success should always be based on MOC participation. Just my two cents. EKnight
  9. Very nice, It would fit right in alongside any official set, and it's got plenty of play features too! EKnight
  10. As cool as this looks, I guarantee I won't be getting it. It's likely going to be out of my price range, with that many parts, and I just have had no interest in any of the Bricklink program sets. They feel too much like a MOC to me, and I just don't care to own someone elses MOCs. The line really is blurring between an official Lego set, and a MOC, and I'm not sure I like it. It's probably already out of a lot of people's price range as it is, with that many pieces. EKnight
  11. Brilliant, Lego should have done this in the first place. EKnight
  12. Large entries: Escape from the Imperial Trading Post by A_Goodman Caught by the Armada Coast Guard by Quotenotto Tapu Island by Marooned Marin Steves Challenge by Christophh The Crimson Raider by Andy-Roo Small entries: Sneaking Steve by YellowFrog Steve Origins: Meeting Redbeard by Oky From Merchant to Pirate by Yatkuu/Gregory Coquelz Mini Imperial Trading Post by SevenDeadlyStreamers and his daughter Sydney
  13. @Horation His posts were well thought out, and his advice was worth taking. EKnight
  14. Hmmm. If it's still a nice enough looking ship, I would get it. EKnight
  15. Thank you! As previously mentioned, Regular cotton material, stiffened up with a watered down gesso/paint mixture. EKnight
  16. Yes! I'm so happy! Someone used the coral hull piece! I've been thinking on ways to use it myself, maybe this will give me some inspiration. Overall it's a very cute boat, and a fitting name to be sure. Two thumbs up! EKnight
  17. Interesting. I've never seen the Goonies, but I may have to now. If the set is a nice enough ship, and complete enough, I'll have to get it. otherwise, an easy pass. EKnight
  18. Lovely take on the sloop. I didn't realize there was a 3x3 macaroni brick now. I knew the tile existed, but was unaware of the brick. EKnight
  19. Thank you. I agree, the sail plan felt very merchant-y to me as well. There are no guns, they are "painted on". EKnight
  20. Not intentionally, But I do have 4 or so, I got them at a Lego convention. They just popped out of my animal bin, it's a bright colour. EKnight
  21. Perhaps I could, but alas, I don't own the tile. I only own this and the Nacy G Roman because I got them in a bulk lot. But of the names, it would be the second best one, I would agree. I could almost see myself getting one off bricklink for this exact purchase. EKnight
  22. Mostly it means "I own a coral frog", but it could be interpreted in so many other ways. It's left to your imagination to decide! EKnight
  23. Indeed, Eurobricks is full of great tutorials, and the Pirate section is especially great. For me Hamilton is a very Piratey name mostly because of the show Black Sails. It's quite probably that the characters are based on historical figures, as many are in that series. I recommend that show to anyone wanting to get in a good Piratey mood. EKnight
  24. I was hoping someone would notice the loose board. It is indeed very subtle. I was trying to keep the MOC under 200 parts, I definitely felt a bit restrictive on how to do the water. @Math Wizard mentioned it was very gridlike, and I agreed with that statement even when building it, but again, piece count. Perhaps I shall expand the MOC after the contest. I do have a fair bit more tiles to work with. EKnight
