The HMS Redoubtable is ready to sail the seas, and hunt down Pirates, Blue coats, and anyone not flying the red stripes! HMS Redoubtable 112 gun, first rate ship of the line for the Imperial Guards. A true Imperial flagship if there ever was one. HMS Redoubtable Almost 11 months to build. Mind you, there was a move and a wedding to disrupt it, but still, a long time. First ever First Rate ship. first ever three gun deck ship. Second ship based on the 10210 colour scheme. Overall a success. I'm happy with almost every aspect of this. A couple minor things may need some tweaking. HMS Redoubtable Total length of the ship is 50 1/2 inches long, or about 162 studs long. Height is 39 1/2 inches tall. So it's my longest boat, but not my tallest. Certainly the one with the most guns. HMS Redoubtable HMS Redoubtable HMS Redoubtable HMS Redoubtable Let me know what you think of the finished product! If you don't like it, I'll send a full broadside you way EKnight ORIGINAL POST: Hello Gents of Fortune, I have started working on what is going to be my largest sailing vessel. It's going to be a triple-decker, with a 100+ guns. (My brother built a 90 Gun ship last year, and I need to top it. I'm the one who is know for building boats, after all.) So here is the beginnings so far: HMS Redoubtable WIP HMS Redoubtable WIP HMS Redoubtable WIP by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr It's my first foray into building such a large ship without using the prefab hulls in any way. Bow is looking fairly good, but what do you all think? I'm going for 10210 Imperial Flagship colours, in case you didn't notice EKnight

WooHoo! my set was shipped yesterday! Now, time to jump into this ongoing debate. The Cross Bone Clipper was my first pirate "ship" (3rd Pirate set overall). I got it when I was a wee lad of 7, so it holds a special place in my heart. I was quite happy to see it get a reference in this new awesome Pirate set. Taking a look at the Cross Bone Clippers box art, I see thus: Cross Bone Clipper box It's clear that Redbeard is in command. Our green vested person is the helmsmen in this picture, and our woman is standing nearest to the gun. From this, I think that the new Pirate Bay minifigure Robin Loot is the female from the set, as it seems to be her who is the "Former gunner of the Cross Bone Clipper" And that she is simply wearing the clothes from one of her shipmates. Just my two cents. But it's Lego. You could make that character Redbeard after a shave if your heart so desires EKnight

[LEGO IDEAS] Maelstrom Pirate Ship Duel - PotC
Elephant Knight replied to legoMoccer's topic in Pirate MOCs
Those micro ships are beautiful. A great MOC, however, I see a little problem with it. One ship is going clockwise, the other is going counter clockwise. In the movie (And in the concept art) they are going the same direction. Your ships are going to crash together, and we won't get epic Jack Sparrow moments. EKnight -

And here is the finalized ship: Crossed Bones Clipper by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Crossed Bones Clipper by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Some of the yard arms feel a bit short, but I'm too busy with other projects to fix them now. Crossed Bones Clipper by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr EKnight -
Pirate ship "Crossed Bones Clipper"
Elephant Knight replied to Elephant Knight's topic in Pirate MOCs
Thanks! It really is one of my favorite colour schemes to use. I have such nostalgia for that set. Yes, I did do the swap tick for the hulls. Opened up a lot more possibilities for this boat. Round cabin is actually the style I was going for. The ship is actually now down, been done for a while. I want to redo some sails at some point, I made them too narrow. EKnight -
This is wonderful! Both the actual ship and the MOC, hehehe. You did a fantastic job recreating the ship in Lego form. My only complaint is that the rigging seems a bit simple compared to the detail put into the hull. And I love the guy loosing his lunch. A nice touch. EKnight

Pirate ship "Crossed Bones Clipper"

Got more progress. It's coming along well. Pirate ship WIP by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr EKnight -
Yup. Got another one coming. This is what happens when I don't build a new boat in a year and a half. I just start building them back to back to back, non stop almost. I've also had a decent amount of free time. This current WIP is a pirate ship, going off of the colour scheme of the Cross Bone Clipper. It was my first Pirate boat, so it holds a lot of nostalgia for me. Ship building continues for me. This ship was just a quick build. It is after all just a recolouring of the Imperial Flagship, in Skulls Eye Schooner colours. I think it looks snazzy. Pirate Support ship. by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Pirate Support ship. by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Yes, to properly match the colours of the Schooner, the lanterns should be blue, but lets face it, blue just doesn't look right. Progress has been good. Hull and masts are done, other than a few parts yet to arrive from Bricklink. Time to rig it up and set the sails. Enviar WIP by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Enviar WIP by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr EKnight

Those who follow me on Flickr will have already seen this WIP. Those same people should also know I like building creations based on official Lego sets (like most space themes, blacktron especially, castle themes, and of course, Pirates) My current WIP boat is a Spanish galleon, based on this one built by my dad before I was born, but which is now mine. Well, that's the colours of the Armada Flagship, so it's what I'm going with. EKnight

Thanks for the appreciative comment! The figurehead came from a loose lot of Lego I got many years, but came from Freestyle sets back in the 90s, I think. EKnight
