So after finishing the White card, I went right ahead and continued my Imperial fleet. This ship took only two days from start to finish, but considering I went a very different route than the White Card, It shouldn't be surprising. HMS Horshwaddle by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr I intentionally went for a very set like aesthetic. having an extra main sail and spanker from the 90s Imperial flagship kicking around was a big incentive. (The lack of rigging is also what made this ship a two day build.) HMS Horshwaddle by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr HMS Horshwaddle by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Sailing aside the Flagship for comparison. HMS Horshwaddle by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr The octopus looks a little tacked on, but half the reason for the octopus being there is related to my Pirate comic. It makes sense in context, I guess. Regardless on whether or not I am satisfied with the stern or not, I am calling the ship done for now. Sails are made, rigging is complete. Just need to take some better pictures. A task for this weekend. HMS White Card by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr I'm kind of thinking I made the sails a touch small. Any thoughts? EKnight

Got more progress done. Rigging is about 80% the way, Hull is pretty much complete. I'm not 100% sold on the stern still, but I'm happy enough. HMS White Card WIP by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr HMS White Card WIP by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr EKnight

I took in the advice to take away the outward sloping sides of the cabin. I left the height as is, for I really like it. I do however have a problem with colouring the side of the cabin now. Got to options, as seen below. Stern option A by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Stern Option B by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr I think I may put a black plate underneath the windows, just to break up the white a bit, and make the windows pop more. A great name suggestion, but too Frenchy . In my mind the Blue Coats are the more French types, and this is a Red Coat ship. I may however just go with White card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Currently working on my latest ship. Going to be a brig style. Any feedback would be welcome. [GoC] 14 Gun Brig HMS Ymir
Elephant Knight replied to Wellesley's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This is a very nice ship. Sorry. This is a gorgeous ship! Love the use of the black on top of white hull parts. Looks so snazzy. A couple questions. How did you get the sails to billow like that? are the starched, or is there a fan behind the scenes? And how did you make those shrouds? I want to do that for my current WIP ship, but have no ideas how to do it. EKnight -
Hmmm, thank you! I have never had anyone point that out to me. I will keep it in mind for my next build. I've always thought something looked a bit off. I think you may have nailed it for me. EKnight

Long time no post. Here is my sort of latest tall ship. This is actually almost a year old at this point. I just seemed to have forgotten to take pictures until now. Comments and criticism are welcome, I'm always looking for feedback! EKnight

Cartoony is one way to put it, I guess. I definitely went a different direction with this ship. I wasn't so sure about the cannon flaps either, but it was one of the main driving forces behind this, actually. I wanted to go all skull-blingy on this ship. EKnight

My latest Pirate ship (Not my latest tallship, but the latest one in which I have pictures) Black Eye's Revenge by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr I'm quite happy with some aspects of this ship (The custom sails, mostly. Those turned out great) I'm only half pleased with the giant skull on the stern. Being my first try at a large scale skull, I think it turned out ok. Some views look better than others, I will admit. Here's a couple shots I've done for my webcomic, thought it would be worth posting here. The Barracuda comes by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr A Pirate's Life returns! by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr EKnight

As far as I see it, Classic Space died as a forum when the old forum got hacked. The forum in discussion was, to me, never more than a shadow of the old one. All the people on Classic Space migrated to Flickr and here. Just my 2 cents. EKnight

Anyone is free to borrow this idea. I can see both advantages and disadvantages to using the tile clip. Pro, More variety in colour striping, but a con would be slightly thicker walls. I\ll play around with that perhaps. EKnight

This should help a bit

Here you go, for those interested Boat blowapart by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr

Thanks! I'll see what I can do about getting a blow apart shot, especially of the stern. EKnight

I had an idea how to enlarge the rowboats. I always thought that the walls were too low to really MOC well. Then I came to the obviously solution that since one can clip clips to the sides, why not go that route? Thanks! i was aiming for a carrack, not a cog, but since they are very similar, I understand the confusion. It is definitely one of my best hulls to date. Eknight

Another of my entries in the Colossal castle Contest (My 8th, actually) Royal James by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr I thought about posting this in the Pirate forum, but since it was built for a castle contest, and is a ship from the Medieval era, This forum was better suited. My entry in the Ice Castle category, and second in the CCC. This is the largest castle I have built, and I am very pleased with how it turned out. Not completely happy with how some of the interior turned out, but still pleased with most of it. A close up of the falcon mosaic. Don't eat the yellow snow. No matter how cold it gets, there is always that one guy. As always, feel free to comment and/or criticise. EKnight

What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?
Elephant Knight replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I recently found all these at value Village for a grand total of $72 Value Village find by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr No sets are complete (The TIE Advanced is close, though) a couple had some glued parts (Again, the TIE Advanced) and all were a bit dusty. Stuff missing tended to be loose minifigs (All the sets had their pilots, except the snow speeder) and smaller items in the sets. EKnight -

Consider me intimidated. This is a great ship. the wings look great, and that cockpit, with the Benny SSS glass and the upside down old CS one look great together. My only complaint is the colour balance. A bit too much trans yellow and trans red I feel. But still awesome enough to blog. EKnight
