I must say I am not often disappointed with Star Wars sets, mostly they are quite good. Almost every single set however seems to have its one little design flaw, some small bit where it is not completely stable for example: The top fin of the Imperial Shuttle tends to break off, the Tantive IV has a weak point between the main body and the escape pods, the legs of the 7657 AT-ST break apart a lot and the AT-ST from the Endor Bunker is not standing particularly stable either. Flick-fire-missiles are only a problem when they do not work properly like on the turret of 7749 Echo Base. The missiles in that just drop, they do not fly more than a centimeter. Making a whole cannon barrel flick-fire (like on the AAT) is stupid too, because a) it`s unrealistic and b) it does not work. These "cannon-missiles " just don`t fly. The only thing I can say about the Falcon debate is that I don`t really care for a new release of the MF. I have 4504 and I am happy with it, it is truly a great ship. So a new Falcon is no priority for me, I`d rather like (as has been mentioned before) a new blue and white Jango-Slave I or a better minifig-scale AT-AT (with interior), if there had to be rereleases. Of course rereleasing of vehicles that have been made before is great for people who missed out on the first incarnations or if something can be realized in a more accurate fashion (like the A-Wing). But if the majority of new sets are like that, there is a serious lack in diversity. Sure, some people would prefer ,say, a new Falcon to a rather unknown vehicle like the Freeco speeder. But other people (like me) prefer a new, different vehicle to another rendition of an older one. It seems that I have a few of those things a lot of people missed (4504, most of the 2006 wave, all worthwhile Ep. 3 sets and some of the old 1999/2000s), so I´d like something new, even if it`s Clone Wars. Wow, quite a bit of text, I don`t recall ever writing that much in one go before here.

Star Wars Book Review: "Complete locations"
Commander_Rob replied to echobasehoth's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Good review, and a very nice book, I also have it. Especially the illustrations of such complex buildings as the Jedi temple are stunning with loads of details and small rooms. Echo bas is very good too and I think the Ice Cutter vehicle from the new battlepack is visible there somewhere. -
Nice shots, everybody, seems this thread is never really going to die. So, a while ago, when 7749 Echo Base was released, smokebelch and some other people posted a few pictures of the Tauntaun with fake snow. Recently, we had some snow round here and so I used that to take some photos with that. Rebel trooper on patrol:

Nice review and a nice set too. The A-Wing is one of my most favourite Star Wars vehicles and I have a bit of a history with the Lego sets: Before I was even interested in SW, I wanted this set, when I set out to get it, it was sold out. So I got the old Snowspeeder instead. But I always regretted not having the A-Wing and when I heard a new version was coming (in 2006 I think), I was very excited. As soon as I saw it in a shop, I grabbed one, even though at the time I was on holiday in Norway. And now I`m happy, finally having an A-Wing.

Congratulations on getting Boba for Christmas, I guess from all the LSW maquettes there are, he`s best. With that pose and how the arms and legs slightly are turned he looks a lot like he does in the Lego Star Wars video game.
-
Didn`t buy anything but got the Tantive IV and Lego Indiana Jones 2 for christmas. Will be moving out soon to scout for new sets.
-
These look very interesting, also the Slave I in the background. It seems to be dark green. And is that thing lying next to the Snowspeeder a Tauntaun spine and ribcage? Looks good.

Nice stands and a very impressive collection of minifigs! I guess the only problem with this is that it catches a lot of dust.
-
Nice pictures, guys. Endor troopers seem too be very popular. So I`ve got something else: 501st Legion Sniper provides covering fire during Republic assault on the Rocky Beach.

Nice article, I always kinda` liked Res-Q. I am proud to say that I have all the sets except that river boat, 6451.

Thank you very much for the review, KimT. I am not really sure about this set, the vehicle itself is OK, Lego`s version is not so good and the figs aren`t particularly appealing. Soo.... PS: Did anyone else notice that, while the boxart shows the older version of the canopy piece, the newer one is in the set? Oh and another thing: the logo on Anakin`s hood is the emblem of the Jedi order.

REVIEW : 8075 Neptune Carrier
Commander_Rob replied to daoudbazaar's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks very much for this review, I kinda´ like the set now. Atlantis however is like Space Police (and some other themes too) to me: I look at the pictures, I appreciate the design, I find it good that it was made and generally feel good about it. But I never buy a lot of the sets, probably only the Impulses. -
Looks good, I guess a kit is a nice idea but would probably be pretty expensive. I have to agree with CommanderFox, the front and back legs look a little off, I guess that is because the lower part of the leg is a little long in relation to the rest.

Grand Army of the Republic Planetary Forces
Commander_Rob replied to Legostein's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Great models, all of these. I wouldn`t even say that the SPHA-T is off-scale, it might look too big compared with the others, but those things are freaking large, over 140m (AT-TE: 13m). So if these were to be to scale with each other, it`d be too small! -
Great review, KimT, I also hope you get to do the Freeco speeder soon, I`m looking forwards to that! From what I see, this is a great set, the front looks far more accurate, the figs are great, and even though I have the old one, I´ll try to get this as well.

REVIEW: 8084 Snowtrooper Battle Pack
Commander_Rob replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Good review, but why is the empire always so incompetent? Anyway, I like the set so I`ll get two, to properly fill up my AT-AT with troops and crew. The only thing I can say about the boxart is: I don`t really care, the boxes are just something that stands between me and Lego bricks, they get flattened and stuffed away. -
Good review, however, I have to something to note: The central "ball" is not a cockpit, even if the boxart tells you to put a droid in there, it is just the ships main reactor and controlling droid brains in there.
-
Great review, however the color and bendiness thing worries me a little. Lego has always been very, very exact in quality and now there is these sets with such cheap plastic. I will still buy one of these though, if only for the helmets.
-
Great review, and a good set too, I guess I will get this one. Maybe I can turn it into a TIE Phantom.

What LEGO do you expect under the tree this year?
Commander_Rob replied to Legoliner Pilot's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I`ll most probably get the Tantive IV and the Lego Indiana Jones 2 video game. Lego Star Wars Visual Dictionary was also on the list but I bought that on holiday already. -
Anakin, they're all over me! - A guide to the Separatist starf
Commander_Rob replied to Legostein's topic in LEGO Star Wars
A nice bunch of Separatist ships, I`d say my favourites are the P-38 and, for some reason the Droch-class boarding craft. -
Great review, I want the set even more now, the figs are just great.
-
The hats may be too big, but I still like the set. Will get two.
-
Very cool, motorized, radio-controlled, wow... I think motorizing an AT-TE or any kind of vehicle for that matter, is pretty cool, though I think I personally prefer an all-Lego solution.
-
I like all of the speeders, but I guess the Firespeeder will have to be my favorite. The Starviper and Clawcraft are incredible also, the latter especially, sometimes it`s a single piece that makes the whole design.
