  1. Wonderful model, it captures the sleek lines of the original very well. The yellow and white Y-Wings are from Anakin's Gold Squadron and are seen attacking the Malevolence. This model here is in the colour scheme of Anakin's personal ship, Gold 1. The other fighters of the squadron have a slightly different pattern, but it should be possible to recreate that as well. Dark red Y-Wings were in "Landing at Point Rain", and, according to the Star Wars website they were a homage to the original (red) markings on the Y-Wings in Episode IV. Here is a picture of the dark red CW Y-Wing: I guess it should be possible to build the model in this colour scheme, or at least with standard red.
  2. Brilliant picture fenris, some Stormtroopers lined up behind Vader might help the epicness here. For dust removal, I can recommend so-called "anti-dust" cloths. They are some form of microfiber and keep the dust in via static electricity (or so they say). All I know is that they are great to clean dust from just about anything. You should be able to get them from any supermarket, just have a look round the cleaning supplies.
  3. Very nice review, Rufus, I always enjoy reading a good one like this, even if I would probably never buy the set. The detail on this is amazing, even if it's repeated in some sections, the design is good enough you won't notice unless you look close. I guess it is quite a pain to keep all those greebles dust-free. After seeing the comparison picture with 7658, I start to consider getting that, it looks quite good, even compared to this detail-monster.
  4. Great design and build, I absolutely love it. It looks like it could have come straight from a Clone Wars episode and the design is as good as any official set. I guess I might try to build this myself, or something similar at least.
  5. Very nice, the pictures are good and the sets and characters look nicely built. I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out, hilarious.
  6. That's a great micro building, cute-looking and instantly recognizable if you know the set. Now you just need a micro-scale pirate ship to go with it.
  7. Wonderful, the building looks very nice, the minifigs are well done and the vehicles look as well designed as those from the Indiana Jones sets. Great builds from a great movie.
  8. Very cool, the movement is very smooth (something not always seen in brickfilms) and the effects are nicely done.
  9. Indeed, very impressive. While this scene is frequently recreated, you did a great job here, I like that it is not just the shuttle, walls and figs, but also those little cargo crates and stuff.
  10. Very nice scene, the effects are brilliant, especially that Geonosian getting blown apart and the Clone wrestling with one of the bugs. It would be very nice to see the aftermath of the scene, with either Clones or droids (depending on who you let win) clearing up the site of the battle afterwards. I hope for the Clones to get last minute air support by gunship.
  11. Very nice, both of them. They both have that kind of 50s-American car-hotrod-feel to them, the white one especially. Also, I love those antennas, I can't help but stick those on every second thing I build and this is a very nice use.
  12. Thanks very much everybody, it's always nice to get so much appreciation for a simple design. About the design: That piece would indeed make a better front end, lightningtiger, but I fear I only have it in dark green (Jungle Cutter) and a single white one (Tantive IV radar dish). If I had some more, I'd used that piece though. I have some more of the track wheels in white somewhere and I'll probably put those on once I come across them. Until then, I'll just assume that those are the only powered wheels and thus look different (lazy excuse, but it works). Those bags were actually more of a late addition, when I placed those two Rebels in the cockpit piece (one of my favourite Lego parts), I had to put their bags somewhere. I think it nicely recalls all the bags and packs you sometimes see on tanks and other military vehicles.
  13. I built this thing a while ago, originally intending to copy the small tracked vehicle from the Temple of Akator set after using it in the 2nd Indiana Jones game. The design was changed and at some point I put a Hoth Rebel in it and so it became a Rebel vehicle. Some time ago it appeared in one of my pictures for the photography thread, now this is the full presentation. So here is the Yutrane-Trackata BLD-0235, a small bulldozer-like vehicle used by Rebel troops on Hoth for patrol duty and for building defences. Front 3/4: Rear: Side: Without minifigs: In case anyone wonders, the background is snow. More pics at my flickr Comments and criticism welcome!
  14. Very cool build, Rook. I like how the these lock together, I can imagine how these jumping into hyperspace together and then separating in the middle of a battle to surprise enemies. Also, I love those pilots, nice use of the heads.
  15. Wonderful diorama, even if it looks simple at first. My only little complaint is that the Luke minifig technically isn't correct, as he already has his medal, but really, that's nitpicking. If you are looking for a use for all those than tiles, a Tatooine scene would also be my guess, though not Sandcrawler or the Pit of Carkoon, those are way too overdone. Maybe Beggar's Canyon with some T-16s?
  16. I saw that on TV, I'd say it is hilariously simple for the one part, but also completely impossible on the other hand. Of course it is easy (at least I would say so) to tell for example a Stormtrooper form a Clone (with hands or mouth), but with figs that are identical apart from colours (Stormie and TIE pilot), it can't be done (unless the plastic tastes different ).
  17. That's brilliant! I spotted it on Brickshelf before I got here and looked through all the pictures. Even though it is smaller than the Death Star (at least I'd guess so), it still looks massive, and all the details... My favourite bit personally is the "medical room"/torture chamber, I also love that thing on the actual set.
  18. Thank you very much, my weekend was very nice so far, and this makes it even better! The Tantive IV is brilliant and the Mon-Cal ships capture that unique look very well. One question though, are those half-round pieces with holes in them taken from keychain figures?
  19. Wonderful train, I absolutely love the design and colour scheme. However I feel that some kind of lettering on the engine, and/or the cars (e.g. a train company logo) might make it even better, but that's just me. The idea of using old model trains for inspiration is brilliant, in case it's not possible to get any, catalogs of model train companies might help. So now, "Let the Day-Glo Special shine a light on me!"
  20. Great stuff, Dark Zion! I saw your Millenium Falcon on Brickshelf a while ago and liked it a lot, but all the other things are brilliant too. My favourite is the AT-AT, the scale is just right and it even has an interior. And all those fighters go nicely with the TIE Advanced from the Death Star playset.
  21. Great picture, fenris, taht goes straight on the Imperial propaganda posters. I like the lighting and how you angled Vader's arms outward, how exactly did you do that?
  22. Very nice model, Legostein, I like that it is slightly larger than most official MINIs, too bad I don't have the pieces to build my own. Or atleast not in the correct colours. Some checks on Peeron revealed that it would be possible to build it Jango's colours, most parts that are green and brown here are available in dark blue. The last picture is hilarious, I guess that is the toy car version for little fans of the great bounty hunter?
  23. Congratulations on the tag, smokebelch, well deserved! Glad you like the picture, and well, I'd say I have a compact cam (Canon Powershot A1100is) to be precise, so options are a bit limited. Of course I use macro setting whenever I take pictures of anything Lego. That means the camera chooses something to focus on and usually that works fine, but in a crammed setting like this, focus on the background or a fig means a huge difference. So I have to press the shutter button slightly to make the camera tell me what it planned to focus on, every time and try again if it selected the wrong area. I guess I don't really have the right kind of camera for this kind of photography, but I also use it for a lot of other stuff, always take it along, etc. so it will have to do. On a different note, do you guys by any chance have sigfigs and plan to participate in the Whack-a-Fig contest?
  24. Great scene, I can only say again what has been said before, the lava looks great, and so do the pieces breaking away. Plus the poses are very nice too, they give a sense of dynamic. And I know what you mean about the RotS music, it's epic!
  25. Thank you all very much, and John31388, very much looking forward to seeing pictures from you. Smokebelch, I guess you have much higher standards for your pictures, being a more professional photographer. I just take some pictures when I have a good idea and I just work with what I get. This is the first time I actually built a set, put some thought and effort into lighting etc., and I am happy with the result. It could probably be better, but for now, I'm happy. Thanks, that was the main problem (apart from the light), my camera would focus on the side walls, the pilots, the wall behind Veers, his console or anything but him really, for about 80% of the time. Thank you! I find it funny though, that while this image is firmly imprinted into my mind, there is never a shot like this in the movie, I checked the whole sequence and Veers is only ever seen from the angle that fenris had a while back. What do we learn from that? Don't trust your memory, it will betray you. - Someone, somewhere in Star Wars, I am so sure of it!
