That is one awesome creation, huge, stuffed with functions and the concept is very interesting. A bit like Nomad City you mean?

Looks very nice, though the 2x1 tiles for the fins seem a little plain to me, maybe those would look better with the printed tiles from the MINI X-Wing (in case you have that). Other than that, great!

Hilarious picture, dr_spock, the face is perfect! With inspirations from fenris, here is my version of the AT-AT cockpit, the shot is not exactly like it is in the movie, but I think it looks OK like this. To get this picture, it took almost 30 attempts and a lot of tinkering with light and exposure times. I do have my reasons why I prefer outdoor pics with almost no set at all. Here is some of the fails: Hope you like!

Today I spotted the first cranes migrating back from the south, meaning that spring is only about four weeks away. And I surfed the web for five hours in the early time of the day.

'Cnoc Na Feille' by Runrig. The whole thing is in Scottish GAELIC, so I have no idea what it is all about, but it just sounds so great!

Dang you, Fenris, now you made me want to recreate movie scenes as well! Good shots though, I especially like the AT-AT cockpit scene. Future74 is right though, the BP officer looks a lot more like Veers than the "real" Veers minifig, so the Veers I currently is a very cobbled together affair: body from aforementioned officer, head from a Rebel soldier (which has a chinstrap, but no goggles) and original dark grey helmet. I might show him off if I can think of another scene with him, I don't want to do the exact same one Fenris has done already.

Still looks great, sigpro! I had almost forgot about this thread and project, but I am absolutely looking forward to seeing this finished (eventually). The landing pads and command building look good so far and if you still need ideas for additional rooms and stuff, do you have an officer's mess for the officers to hang out?
-
Thanks everybody, it seems that this thread is getting popular again! That blurred white-grey mass in the background is the Ice-Cutter from the Rebel BP, the vehicle in the fopreground however is a kind of little bulldozer I built for my Hoth Rebels. I guess I might post some pictures of it here at some point.

I'd say that I like both of these new figs, though I think Boba's helmet looks a little weird, but that might be because of the angle from which the picture was taken. It looks more rounded and I kind of liked the blockier shape of the original helmet, but having a separate helmet and jetpack makes up for that. About Grievous, well, if you look around the web, there is loads of custom-built Grievous figs, so obviously the original fig isn't to good, it doesn't do the character justice. This one looks more realistic and more menacing, but to be able to really judge either of these figs, I guess it will help to see them in the bricks.

Looks very good, Rook! To me it looks a bit like a fighter version of a Gungan sub(because of the...thing at the back, I don't really know what to call it), but the overall design very much says "Mon Calamari". I also like that it does not look like some kind of fish, that is something you see way too often in underwater-themed vehicles.

Thanks for all the replies guys! Smokebelch, those shots are really cool, and I guess Grand Theft Speeder would be an awesome video game, a Star Wars-themed Grand Theft Auto. And 'cause I still have a few at hand, here is another Hoth picture: Rebel troops overlooking trenches being dug on Hoth.

Thanks very much for the replies everybody, seems that these are some of my best (or at least most well liked) pictures yet. Thank you for that, though I have to say, that pilot has been dead for months, noone can help him now. Glad you like the photos, though I have to say, while I'm sure they get a lot of snow in America, I got that lot snow here in Germany. I really should put something sensible again in the "From" field. As I have an AT-AT and enough snow on hand, I thought I might as well raise to the challenge: Here is a bunch of shots with a Snowspeeder and an AT-AT, in the snow: Oh no, Luke Skywalker, hero of the Alliance has been shot down and now he is about to be crushed by an Imperial walker! But he just made it out Now he's aiming at the belly of the beast with his rope gun, hoping to destroy it from the inside... ...but he forgot to keep an eye on the foot behind him! D'oh! The Rebels however did manage to destroy some AT-ATs. And if they were down, it was time for their crews to run Because the Snowspeeder pilots weren't gonna give them a break now Hope you like those, as a little bonus, here is a bigger version of the downed speeder from the last lot.

I'd agree that midi-scale isn't a kind of definite scale, it is more of "the right size to look good on your desk". That doesn't mean though that you can't have midi ships to scale with each other, and I agree, a TIE in that scale would be cool. Or maybe a midi version of 10131 TIE Collection.

Thanks very much, smokebelch, CommanderFox, John31388 and nice picture gotoAndLego. That Vader picture is really cool smokebelch, though I think the reflection on the "mouth" distracts a bit too much from the overall image. Anyway, as I don't usually do a lot of pictures with any kind of setups (the backgrounds in the M-8 pics were a radar dish and a cut-open jet engine respectively), I can only guess how hard it is to get a picture this good with all the lighting and stuff right. Because the weather is still as bad (overcast, cold, snow still here), I decided to make use of that, even though I'm getting a little tired of the Hoth pictures. For these, there is even a little story: Red 7 was one of the first casualties the Rebels experienced on Hoth. The Speeder, along with its two crewmembers, was lost in a snowstorm only two day after Rebel transports arrived on Hoth. This, along with more losses during the following days, led to a number of adaptions made to the Rebel speeders. Red 7 however was missing until two days before Battle of Hoth when it was discovered by a Rebel Patrol. The pilot was killed upon impact, while the gunner managed to escape the crashed vehicle. The patrol yet has to find his frozen body.

Great photos everybody! I feel I ought to contribute something again, but with the weather here being as rubbish as elsewhere, I have to feed on old stuff: Here's two pictures of the (sadly not exactly Star Wars-related) M-8 droid:

The Eagles, Hotel California. A classic.

A great build, while I am not much of a fan of the modular buildings-lineup, I always admire the amount of detail in the sets, and your MOC is as detail-packed as any of them. I also love how you managed to keep details from MMV (like the rooster) but also put in new things (like the much-loved jukebox and table football, which, I`d guess, could also be adapted as a snooker table). And that pub sure looks like a nice place to be!

Very nice review, though indeed this is "Jabba`s Prize". Jabba`s message is the other little set with Bib Fortuna and the droids. What I always found strange about this set is that while all other megaphone blasters had a transparent 1x1 round part on the front, Boba`s doesn`t. Would one additional little part have made the set too expensive? The other problem is that the "Han in Carbonit"-piece is simply too small. I mean, come on, do people shrink when they are frozen in that stuff? In the movie, the block was taller an a person and also wider.

These all look quite nice but I think what the pictures show most clearly is that for events like Toy Fair, sets are being built by complete idiots. The medical droid`s legs are on backwards, that clone has the wrong helmet, Cad Bane and Aayla seem to have swapped weapons and what is Nahdar Vebb doing on Grievous` operating table? They could at least send some competent people to these events, this way, TLG is making a mockery of themselves. Once you see through that though, the new sets all seem pretty good. Bane is still in desperate need of a trenchcoat though.

[MOC] Minifig-scale B-Wing (update) & Rebel Squadron
Commander_Rob replied to RenegadeClone's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Great diorama, and I love the variation among the pilots and technicians you have there. -
I must say, I haven`t done much in-bag-building, in fact the only thing I remember putting together in the bag is my chrome Darth Vader . That boat is impressive though, I guess I´ll try something like that when getting a new set.

What is the hardest Lego set you have ever built?
Commander_Rob replied to SharkMan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I guess the hardest-to-build set I built was probably either 5571 Black Cat or 9466 4x4 Offroader, though I must say that while both are complicated, time-consuming builds, I built those when I was, well.....smaller. The Walking AT-AT more recently wasn`t that hard (to me), apart from some tricky little things you have to get absolutely right for it to work. On the other hand, while not especially hard, the Death Star playset was certainly my most time-consuming set. It`s not particularly hard to build, but a bit repetitive and FREAKING BIG. -
[MOC] Minifig-scale B-Wing (update) & Rebel Squadron
Commander_Rob replied to RenegadeClone's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I`m truly impressed with this, the B-Wing is one of my favourite SW ships (or at least starfigters) and these are great. I have one question though: are the two models completely identical (except for colours of course) ? -
Do you like studs hidden or showing?
Commander_Rob replied to Legoist's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I guess `studs or not` is a decision that is different for whatever you build, it really always depends. A sleek starfighter might look a lot better if it`s totally studless, but a car might look cool with studs showing (like that Jaguar). It certainly is possible to say that completely studless creations "don`t look like LEGO" but sometimes thats a good thing. My personal preference is mostly for studs showing. On the one hand because I think it looks good for most of the things I build and on the other hand, I don`t have enough tiles to smooth it all out. Altogether, I`d say that studs define LEGO but that their absence can define it in new, interesting ways. -
Great to see some more pics of the new stuff. The Juggernaut looks very good and so does Cad Banr, but he`ll definitively need a coat and Indy bag.
