Ignorance is not bliss... This is an entry for the Spaceman and the Roman soldier Spaceman Hartnell loved history. He had always studied the most ancient cultures of his species' history- the Romans in particular. Unfortunately, in the far future, history has been a bit...erm... edited in such a way that things like violence are omitted or poorly underwritten. Essentialy, censorship infected our learning. But moving on, our brave adventurer had been from galaxy to galaxy looking for the perfect wormhole to bring him to his favourite period in history to meet the mighty Roman Empire, unaware of what he was getting himself into. He succeeded. Upon arriving, he presented his weapon to the first fellow he saw and placed on the ground to show that he wasn't a threat. The figure in shining bloodied armor just stared at him in alarm and then raised his spear and attacked. The spaceman, of course, ran in the opposite direction, noticing only too late that the wormhole had brought him into the middle of a gladiatorial arena where the emperor was enjoying the life and death struggles on the field below. The Soldier, as it turned out, was condemned to die in the arena for being too well-groomed and making the other soldiers feel bad. Self-esteem, as you well know, is important to a military. So here we are, with a strange man appearing in the worst of places being pursued by a Roman soldier for the delight of the indifferent Emperor. Run, Spaceman, Run! The emperor sits in his seat oblivious to the sudden arrival of a future man And here we have a full view For my gallery with larger versions of these pics go Here(it might not be public yet, but be patient :). My idea for this was to have the future interact with the past, but in a way that is just a bit ridiculous. The emperor was made from what I had in my minifig parts bin, which is unfortunately, not much. The head was the closest I could get to having the leaf crown while remaining purist. I do hope you take the time to read the story, and I hope you all enjoy this :) ---Vertea---

Woot! Imma Champion! So would the scarab shields be usable as scarabs? As in, are they shields shaped like scarabs, or shields with a scarab symbol printed on them?
-
like this sort of?

I think this is the most ridiculous and therefore the most epic win series of sets I have ever heard of. Man...2011 is gonna be tough on us limited budget blokes lol.
-
awesome! Thanks, Nausi. I think right now Eurobricks loves you lol.

I'm intrigued by the scarab shield idea... and the wings. Not sure if they're attached to the back or to the arms. I'd REALLY like to see anubis heads or masks for the minifigs.
-
well since you have the awesome privilege to see these, would you mind posting a few pics of the Atlantis sets? If not, would you be cool with describing them-specifically the figures.
-
Nausi- might I request pics of the Atlantis line?

I think The Alien is gonna be the easiest to find, given the unmistakable model of the head. a quick feel and you'd know it. I really like the fisherman's beard and the pilot. -

The Squidman head looks great! I like the black eyes w/ white pupils-and the pupils are actually facing forward! Plus a solid green head and gold laser gun make this a fave. -
Actually, according to the German forum that the picture came from, there IS a red crab man minifig in some of the sets.

Favorite underwater theme?
---Vertea--- replied to Algernon's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I went with Atlantis. I LOVED the old generation sea sets, but the Atlantis series looks far better in terms of underwater craft. Also, it introduced creature figs, which are VERY much awesome IMO. -

I bought this ab out four weeks ago at a LEGO store in Colorado. My first ever lego store experience! Anyway, it's definitely the cheaper chinese plastic, but honestly for just about a fraction of the price of PoA, it's well worth it. For those of us that aren't so great with money, this is an excellent opportunity to grab a genuinely amazing fig. -
I think I may know exactly how you feel. I'm 19- freshly graduated, looking for work and trying to get into college so i can have the career I desire. It's a tough place to be, I'll admit, but IMO this is the best time for LEGO. When all else fails my LEGO collection offers both an escape and a chance to create which is a wonderful feeling as you all know. I've never had that much money to spend on things I like, so I pretty much limited my likes to LEGO and a few other odd interests and right now I am especially limited and have more priorities to place ahead of what I like. But that will not stop me from going out every now and again and picking up a set or two. What I do is separate my money into two groups: 70% goes to necessities, 30% gets set aside for whatever else I may come across. Eventually that 30% builds up and I find that I have enough to safely purchase my favourite building block without sacrificing any priorities at all. So far this topic has produced a number of great tips as far as setting priority and I agree wholeheartedly. Do not give it up- just put it away fro a little bit. As far as getting a girl goes, I have a wonderful girlfriend who has really warmed up to my obsession even today. She also knows when to tell me I really shouldn't spend money on my hobbies, which is equally cool. If you can find a woman like that, you're set ;) I remember being terrified of having my friends see my massive brick collection and freaking out, but after a point I came to realize that real friends would accept me as I am, and luckily that's precisely what they did. I will never stop collecting LEGO, but for the time being, it's just important that it goes on the back burner for a moment.

no worries- it was awesome of you to share what you did know even if you don't like the theme :)

did you get a glimpse of the minifigs? I want to know if we can expect more cool critter people.

I'm making a trip to the LEGO store in Colorado. I'll let y'all know if I find anything. Wish me luck!!!!! -
I disagree- the smaller sets had some of the best new parts without being uber-expensive. Monster Crab Clash was a very cool set with a sturdy build.
-
Preston Stormer- what do you think of your hero factory action figure? "It's a little small..."
-
I wonder if there is any way for him to take pictures of the prototypes? I would very much like to see proto sets.
