  1. They were an occupational hazard lol. I think they were there to add ot the danger, whereas the Pharaoh's quest series is focused on the battle between humans and the undead.
  2. It wasn't- the slaves waited 'till he croaked then put that together themselves. They only bandaged him so he would stop falling apart after they 'tested' the function out a few times. :P Back on Topic: Those Anubis heads are droolworthy. I won't have anywhere near the money for the pyramid after I buy a few Atlantis sets and the race for the staff, but perhaps bricklink will pull through with somewhat reasonable prices.
  3. What the collectible figs are all about is being a collectible figurine from LEGO. That's it. It's a mini-theme for lego collectors and fans of lego both obsessive and casual. Some other customers might pick them up for giggles, but basically, it's for lego buyers. So it makes sense to have some minifigs that appeal to those of us that are long-time fans as well as those casual buyers who aren't obsessive like us. IMO, it's silly to state what is and isn't Lego. It is what it is.
  4. Meh. The castle ones were crazy <insert that tiresome argument>, IMO. The eyes looked doofy and the mouths had huge overbites. The bodies and wings and such were cool, but those heads... This one does look like bad Bionicle, but I don't really mind. It's suiting for an Ice Dragon of sorts. Pointy and frosty.
  5. glad you like! The side rails are admittedly way out of place, but I really wanted to use them lol. You ever have one of those moments where you have a part and you really want to use it despite it not being a good choice? That was one of those moments, I think :P
  6. I wouldn't say cheap, but it does kinda suck. Still, though, there's an abundance of gold in this and the egypt theme, so I think I'll be set for gold parts.
  7. Sounds like you've got a cool brother. I've got two that really like lego, but don't take care of them. a few years back, I gave my ENTIRE collection to them thinking they would take care of them and enjoy them, but they did neither. I lost half of my total parts, most of which were rare pieces, and a good portion of what was left was broken or with teeth marks. Needless to say, I salvaged what was left and stored it away lol. Back on topic, though, I find that the more I look at it, the more I like the hammerhead minifig. It's very unique in every way. It's a headwear, but the minifig head looks like it's lust red with tooth printing on it, so it's sort of got my thumbs up. The angler dude looks cool- his eyes are great. Very psychotic looking. But only two teeth feels a bit bare. I would like to see some smaller teeth molded onto the mouth of the head piece, but other than that, it's a fantastic fig. Finally, the crab man just looks amazing. Very armored, not too silly and all around bad big behind. He even has claw hands which will be great for anyone making a Davey Jones fig.... And the head part has TWO connection points! the more the merrier in my book. Those golden antennae look ridiculous, but they're removable, so I've got no complaints. I think that I will save up the 60 bucks and buy this set. And then the fact that we get more of the portal emperor armour is really cool. It's a fantastic mold, and I'm happy to have as much of it as I can get. I think it's cute that every set but the impulse features a little white pillar. Lego went above and beyond with this wave, that's for sure
  8. Nah. The front is supposed to be blunt and flat, save for those two little headlights/laser thingies. It's a look that I'm fond of. Though perhaps the next ship I build will feature a different kind of nose build that isn't so flat. curious how that bugs so many people lol. yeah... it was one of those features that came in to fill a space, but probably could have been substituted for another part in black. as far as small parts go, I suppose, but again, that's sort of an aesthetic choice. I like sleek ships with blunt noses. The large panels worked for the purpose and looked good. I'm not so good with greeble, which is another reason there aren't so many details. I suppose that's something I'll have to try on my next ship- trouble is I don't have a huge selection of tiny parts for greebling.
  9. Hallo gents! I posted a ship in this subforum a while back titled 'Squidman's Cruiser'. Well now I've decided to go a little further and give the fantabulous Squidman a new ship! Behold! The Squidman Hot Rod!!! Unfortunately,I haven't got time to post all of the pics here, but feel free to check out my Flickr! Here-o
  10. you're referring to the new piece above the driller windshield, yes? I like it a lot. Will be great for robot MOCs-particularly at the hands. And the crab man is the BEST minifig next to Frenzy and the Squid Warrior. The angler-man is cool, but too much underbite, not enough molded teeth. The Hammerhead gets a cookie for being a very unique idea, but a bit to bizarre to get full marks... I like him, though.
  11. lol. Kinda hard to tell sleeve from arm, when minifigs have yellow skin. The trans-yellow visor is welcome especially for space-themed MOCs. For that particular reason, I think I'm gonna get the drill. However, the Angler is awfully cool.... They put a good amount of detail into the eyes.
  12. indeed. Great parts packs for a do-able price. The Hassassin set is one of the few I was able to pick up this year, but it was well worth it for the plethora of new parts in it. The Motorcycle set is even better! Two new mummies with black headdresses and two sets of sword and scarab shield plus dynomite, motor and accessories, plus a staff.
  13. actually, if you look closely, the stuff int he motorcycle set pic looks finalized. The mummies here have different faces and the scarab shields look polished, not prototype. Also, compare the moon staff to the one in the other picture, and you'll see that it looks finalized, too. So basically, we'll be seeing new mummy faces and a lot of awesomeness. The motorcycle set is quite a catch for a measly 10 dollars.
  14. There are some really brilliant entries, that's for sure. I had originally intended on doing one for the pharaoh, but I changed my mind after I saw some of the egypt entries. LOTS of really cool techniques in all of them!
  15. I really dislike the skellie heads and the bent arms(hands facing to the sides???) but the rest of the new parts are pretty boss. That dragon head is the coolest dragon head I've seen since the classic dragon. The castle ones were too darn <insert that tiresome argument> and silly looking.
  16. true, but IMO it's a bit more exciting than people versus people. I personally like the fantastic elements of recent themes. It allows for more imaginative designs and offers parts that are a bit less normal.
  17. I'm liking the dragon and new parts, but that's it.
  18. some interesting things in here Jetbug looks awesome. Overall, I don't hink this resembles Bionicle any more lol
  19. good to see the portal armor is still spotted gold. The crab guy is total epic win. He's the Squid Warrior of the 2011 line. The hammerhead is unique, but a little retarded lol. The anglerman is still cool. I'm going to have to invest in some sets!
  20. true... but gold means that it's not painted and therefore won't get all faded ever! Also, it will look VERY nice in the pearl gold colour, and cna be used for figs that aren't supposed to be all ancient.
  21. WORD. That gap is barely acceptable-it makes me feel cheap whenever I use the portal emperor in MOCs lol. But it's really the only way for those of us with fewer pocket cash to obtain an amazing fig. I'm looking forward to the crabman the most, though of course he only appears in the expensive set. Perhaps he will be this year's keychain lol.
  22. Actually, I think it's more like mummies with wings. The wings look like this: And the heads are supposed to look like this: I like the idea,, personally. It's got a more mythological feel to is, which is fine by me. a mix of fantasy and adventure.
  23. Nausi- I have a novel idea! If you cannot post pictures, do you think you could draw up what the figs look like on, say, MS paint? Just to have a visual to better understand what we have to look forward to :)
  24. gotcha! So we're going to see new minifig limbs! Crab claws! And I'm liking the gold pattern and antennae idea. And the hammerhead sounds...interesting. What's your personal opinion on it? Cool? Silly? Lame?
  25. I still don't get the concept.... What are the tops? Are they buildable, or big clunky pieces? And how does the battling work, exactly?
