  1. So apparently there are no Mixels anywhere around here. I'm gonna have to wait for my S@H order to arrive (another week UGH :( ).
  2. Honestly that function looks pretty terrible. :| I'm more interested in the new Zamorchest pieces. They seem interesting.
  3. Just checked out with Krader, Vulk, and Flyer Beast vs. Breez on S@H. Hopefully they'll arrive by Monday so I can just shower myself in the LEGO stuff I've ordered over spring break (but having them delivered to campus). Already got three BrickLink orders waiting for me so hey why not add another thing to the pile. (mixels :3)
  4. Come to think of it, I don't often listen to music when i'm building. Probably because I only get short gaps of time for it on breaks. Though if I was going to it would probably be Celldweller's Soundtrack For The Voices In My Head Vol. 02, the best rock-orchestra-dubstep-electro-trance mishmash of awesome I've found so far. Then again, I'd probably just put on Pandora.
  5. Holy crap just looked back at the 'Unofficial 2010 "story" topic' from like 4 1/2 years ago. I'd forgotten how much FUN that was. I miss those guys.

  6. Has there been any indication of a mold with one of the mini socket joints attached to a plus rod or other TECHNIC connector like the preexisting mini ball joints? Or are they only going to have stud attachments?
  7. My hypotheorysis is that the new joints were intended to be more "flexible" due to the thinner material. Unfortunately it seemed to have the opposite effect in practice.
  8. Same. He's the only one I really want to buy so far. Maybe Vulk for a second Nixel and some more pieces, but then I'm waiting for series two and three. They seem to have a bit more personality to a lot of them.
  9. Oh, wow, Dragon Bolt I think? In July. It's been a while. :| Though I bought RoboRider Swamp and Roodaka off BrickLink more recently. Once the Mixels sets become more widely available here I'll probably grab some, but I'm still waiting for the HF summer wave.
  10. I definitely use at least a couple of HF-introduced pieces in (nearly) every build. For my recent Roodaka the O(O)O piece made for some delightfully simple torso articulation. I probably would've used some more HF skeleton pieces for her too if a good chunk of them weren't otherwise occupied.
  11. Yeah, but I don't really want to buy all those. :P I'm saving for the summer wave to get Flea Machine, Tunneler, and Rocka Crawler. Plus Benny's SPACESHIIIP! (All the current sets look cool but not so cool that I feel justified buying them. The three summer sets I intend to buy are all relatively small, plus two come with the awesome pod assemblies which I need. I haven't planned to do anything with them yet, I just want to see what I can do with them. They look like a fun piece to try and work into something. We shall see! Also this parenthetical bit is longer than the rest of my post, whoops.)
  12. Huh, those too I guess. I wasn't really thinking outside constraction themes. Though RR and PM weren't really as mech-focused. Heck, even Atlantis had a humanoid vehicle or two, and that was underwater! (… also I have a giant bias towards 2002 and the Bohrok because they're the bestest sets ever. <3) ANYWAY POINT IS it's not a new concept, but neither is anything else anymore if you boil it down far enough. I kind of want to make a crab thing using the black jaw segments as claws. Hopefully BrickLink will have them for a decent price at some point. (Or maybe the beak to a giant octosquidthing if someone's feeling really adventurous.)
  13. If you'd introduced yourself in a way other than "wow all your opinions are terrible" you might've gotten a better reception. P.S. by about the twelfth time someone pops into the topic and says "hey guys, has anyone else noticed that these sets are similar to Pacific Rim?" it gets a bit old. It's been happening for literally months now. The mecha genre has been around for a long time. So has the kaiju genre. So has the combination of the two. Pacific Rim was meant to be a throwback to a lot of them. (Also the kaiju in Pacific Rim had very different aesthetics between them. You can't really say that the IFB kaiju look like the PR kaiju because there's a lok of variety there.) (Also, creatures from underground that the heroes battle with robotic armor.)
  14. Well Exo-Force just kind of stopped, so there's no guarantee of a clean ending.
  15. You are talking about toys on the internet. Get off your high horse. The HF TV series is and always has been secondary to the toys, like pretty much any other LEGO media, so there isn't as much effort put into it (doubly so for HF since the focus has shifted towards NinjaGo and Chima as story-driven lines). Shows like Avatar are the primary medium. Seen any good Avatar toys (or films) lately? As it is, when I watched the abridged episode I thought the animation was the best so far. Probably since they brought Ghost back to make it. Didn't really care for the story, continuing the shift away from story and towards building I've been on since probably around 2006. Maybe I'll watch it muted with the Pacific Rim soundtrack playing. That might be cool.
  16. I haven't read any of the outside story material, so I was going off what was on the website. Like Von Nebula's staff blades that were there to "look scary". "Self-aware" probably isn't the best way to describe it, but it seemed like it wasn't going to take itself so seriously.
  17. I thoroughly enjoyed Pacific Rim. It was a big fun movie about giant robots rocket-punching sea aliens. It wasn't pretending to be some gritty cerebral thriller. That's what I miss about the first waves of Hero Factory. Back then it was less serious and more goofy. HF FM, the ticker, and the funny little bios. I wish they'd kept the bits of self-awareness they had. The put-downs of those who disagree with you don't really help your case. FYI.
  18. Then ask them yourself? Otherwise all you're ever going to get is second-hand accounts. There could be a safe full of external hard drives for all we know. It'd be pretty difficult to hack that.
  19. Yes. He's a part designer.
  20. Given that DV here has probably had more interaction with LEGO than the rest of us combined, I'm willing to take his word. Plus a while ago Front said that a lot of the old molds were "destroyed", or something along those lines. As unfortunate s it is, we probably won't be seeing any of the old stuff in the future.
  21. I like all the funny little techniques used to make these, like the way some of the eyes are made.
  22. Dang, I was hoping Tunneler had the full pod on his back instead of just one "leaf". Oh well, I'll still probably get him. Hoping it's GitD. Also warming up to the Rocka Crawler, and still liking Flea Machine.
  23. Neural bridge. Duh.
