Given that the upsides are direct community participation and boxes of free stuff, I think not talking about illegally acquired information is a fairly decent trade-off.

I loved the vehicles also. I had Axalara, Jetrax, Skopio, and Cendox. They were a nice change of pace from the usual titan, and never fully replaced them anyway (Takanuva, Tuma, Mata Nui).

I have my doubts that the "Bionicle" page is an official one. Having seen many of their posts pop up on my news feed, they don't seem to have the same style as other LEGO or product pages. That, combined with the fact that the description looks like something off a wiki page, it has BZPower and BIONICLEsector01 in the link section (neither site being run by LEGO), and the title is not stylized "BIONICLE" as it is usually, makes me think that it's a fan-run page. Plus, the "hinting" status you're referring to calls them leaks outright. That doesn't seem like something LEGO would want posted on a page of theirs.

Yeah, what this guy said. It's exactly what I've been trying to say. The picture quality is so terrible (as is the case with many past leaks, real or not) there are pretty much no details to be seen. Like I said before, previous fakes have used terrible MOCs, but since some of the pictures were larger and of better quality, that fact was immediately obvious. Or they used already-well-known good MOCs, so anyone who'd seen them could easily tell. I think this may have had potential to spread if it wasn't made by such a prominent builder.

There's word directly from LEGO that they won't be released in North America because they don't sell well.

This is one of the biggest problems I have with the argument. Again, the image is so blurry that the only things really visible are the vague shapes and largest pieces, which suddenly turn into Tahu or a Fikou because people want to see Tahu or a Fikou. The fact that the other pieces aren't visible doesn't lead directly to the conclusion that it's a new BIONICLE line. Yes, a new BIONICLE would have new pieces that wouldn't be immediately distinguishable. But just because A leads to B does not mean that B must be a result of A. Seriously, I'm still ambivalent about the whole thing. Leaks may be reliable for some things and there's certainly some odd stuff happening, but for a big change like this I still want to wait for something official or at least less vague. And less blurry.

Greg's pretty notorious for giving specific-vague answers. I don't really think his post is any more "smoking gun" than the original image(s). Together, though, they make a little bit more of a coincidence than is usual.

Well that's the thing. The image is so small and blurred that you wouldn't really need highly detailed graphics in the first place. The downfall of most of the previous fakes was that they were much clearer, so it was easy to see how much of a hodgepodge they were. All we can really see here are general outlines and shapes, with pareidolia taking over to make something a Hau or Avsa. Personally I'm remaining neutral until something official, or at least more concrete, is released. But saying that there's no way these could be photoshopped, or that it would take some herculean effort, is wrong. Even the rest of the display pictures have the same weird "flat" look, since they're probably not photos of real display stands, just mock-ups. Chances are, real or not, they're the product of someone's labors in an image editing program.

Then what's the "hard" part? Building a spider thing and taking blurry pictures of it?

It does look photoshopped, regardless of how real or not it is. The perspective looks weird and it overall just seems flat. "of this magnitude"? It's nothing you can't do with a few shears and rotations, as has been demonstrated.

Everyone keeps saying "it looks like Tahu" and all I can think is how Stringer was Fire Lord, Splitface was Thunder, and Toxic Reapa was the secret love child of Meltdown and Corroder. Yeah skepticism is no fun, but on something as big as this I'd really rather wait on word from LEGO, like we got when BIONICLE ended.

I don't know whether these are real or fake, but I do know that even some of the fakes we've gotten before have been more detailed than these pictures.

You should get Tentro so that you can have Tentro.

It's not a rumor, it's been confirmed for about a month now. The reason is that the Chima constraction sets don't sell as well here.

… just because they haven't gone up on S@H yet?

I wish the mini ball joint and tooth pieces came in other colors. Gray is fine for a lot of them, but to me it just stands out too much on the lighter-colored ones like the Frosticons and Glorp Corp.

Mistika prototypes closer to 2002 Toa?
Bfahome replied to Transparency for Effect's topic in LEGO Action Figures
This topic has a pretty good list of prototype galleries, including some Mistika ones. None of them looked any more similar to their 2002 forms, though. -
I am greatly looking forward to Rocka Crawler Machine, Tunneler Beast, and Breez Flea Machine. All of them look like fun, well-put-together sets with nice part selections. Rocka Machine is probably just going to be a parts purchase, it having the Rocka fig w/ new blaster, jumper, and several skeleton and shell pieces that look good to have. And, of course, the red "pod". Tunneler I might leave together or just modify, because yay quadrupeds, but it also comes with more of the large "talon" pieces, limb pieces, Kaiju head, and Surge w/ blaster. Flea Machine was originally a must-have because it has Breez, and I didn't want Flyer Beast, but even though that's no longer an issue I still want the set because of all the pieces it has and because yay tripod. Plus another red "pod" and jumper. (I keep talking about pieces but who am I kidding, I'm going to get these, build them, then never want to take them apart.)

It really depends on how the story is presented. BIONICLE 2001-2003 managed the hero/villain separation by having characters carry over between years, with the Mata from 2001 fighting the Bohrok in 2002 to become the Nuva, which then carried all the way through 2003 (though with the introduction of Takanuva). I also think 2004 handled it decently, with the first half of the year focusing on the Toa Metru's conflict with the Morbuzakh before turning to the Dume/Vahki/Dark Hunters/Makuta side that came with the second wave. 2006 started as Piraka vs. Matoran, and the first wave of media was used to play up the massive distrust all the villains had for each other. 2008 used the combo-waves well, with connected but distinct stories between the two waves so that the plot progressed throughout the entire year. Of course, pretty much the entire set breakdown has changed since then. We don't have the 6 hero/6 villain/6 impulse anymore, it's more homogenized.

LEGO.

So it seems that they are getting released, but not in North America.

That makes total sense now. I was wondering what odd-length plate they used, and I sort of forgot that one existed.

I guess? I call it "Tongue Beast". Three guesses why.
