Looks like I'm gonna have to get Flea Machine and Tunneler. Pretty neat designs, plus those podthings are cool.

It's almost like they're commonly used story devices.

Valve is in no way the source for any of these ideas.

Of what? Any of the probably millions of the big bulky strong characters that have been used over the years? Large right arms were not invented in 2008. (They were invented in 2005, duh.) Threads like these are almost always about how something was copied from some other media (usually within the past few years) while ignoring the fact that the idea has been used and reused since the beginning of civilization.

Nnnnope. Sharing could mean LEGO decides not to do business with you anymore. Which is why we don't get flooded with scan after scan of product catalogs as soon as retailers get them.

The problem with printed heads and helmets with eye holes is that you end up needing to take the helmet off to turn their head, otherwise the helmet turns and the head doesn't move. Though I suppose this could be solved by using the "back" of the head when the helmet is on, like the old Jango Fett minifig. (Before I remembered that the heads in this case were minifig heads, I started thinking about how awesome it would be if they introduced multi-piece constraction heads again. A solid-color base with attachable trans-eyes, like how the Mate and Metru heads were built. I'm not as big a fan of the fully transparent heads.) As for the episode, I watched the mini-movie so I'm not going to bother watching the whole thing. I still like the heroes' body designs a lot, though. Much better and more solid-looking than the set-like ones of previous episodes.

Yeah, most of my '08-'10 joints have broken or cracked or flat-out exploded from just normal use. I do have a few pre-'08 sockets that broke, but they're pennies compared to the ones from just that two-year span. I'd made a habit of putting sockets that developed hairline cracks in my "broken pieces" drawer, but I gave up on that because if I'd continued I would have barely any left to use. It seemed like the goal of the redesign was to keep the parts from breaking by reducing the plastic around the cup, theoretically making them more flexible. But from a materials standpoint, it's clear that it also made them weaker, which led to more cracks than before. The new design is far, far superior, and likely stands less chance of breaking from normal use. I haven't had any break so far, and it doesn't seem like that many other people have either, at least not to the same extent.

Your 2008-2010 joints survived? How?

Believe me, I'm all aware of how awesomely TECHNIC-y older BIONICLE sets were. The issue I had was with the way you phrased your statement, as though Hero Factory was what started the march away from TECHNIC, when in reality (at least in my eyes) it's starting to come back around from how far BIONICLE took it away.

Really? The current HF sets seem more in line with TECHNIC than a lot of the later-year BIONICLE sets. The current build is based around single-beam skeletons with pin holes in every spare place they can go, whereas BIONICLE tended to use more elaborate and specialized torso and limb pieces. Nowadays there's practically no unneeded flair under the armor.

Yeah, remember when Stringer was Fire Lord? Good times.

So far, every year seems to have been "Hero Factory's final year??" Sooner or later, it's going to be correct. But it hasn't been yet. Let's just cut to the chase and declare that Hero Factory is constantly in a state of being over.

I like the look of the heroes in this. They look a lot more… substantial, I guess, than the past designs that were based on the sets.
-
My first guess would be straight from LEGO. BZP staff who do reviews get stuff sometimes. Same as here and other places, presumably.

These look pretty interesting.

I like the minifig design, and I think this new piece in this guy's hands has good potential for building. Other than that, can't see or say much of the figures because of the stamp. e: oh, yeah, besides HEADCRABS WATCH OUT DR. FREEMAN (They look like they're made of 3[?] pieces, the base, the crest, and a connector.)
-
That had nothing to do with anything actual or official. It was a joke, because I don't think LEGO has had any recent year where they didn't release something red, something wheeled, or new minifigure designs.
-
The basis was that the front of Fire Lord's helmet looked almost sort of like the front of Stringer's helmet because look they both have holes in them a bit.

toxic reapa is a fusion of corroder and meltdown and fire lord is evil stringer im sure of it

Legends of Chima 2013 (Action Figures)
Bfahome replied to DarkSurgeXL's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I imagine the Chima Ultrabuilds use them because of things like Eris and Razar's wings and Cragger's neck, which are larger than average and could cause them to fall over. And then they probably just used them across the entire line for consistency. -
If that's the case, I might as well throw in Frost Beast too when I end up ordering Canaletto.
-
Obviously the proper response is "lol lego knows hero factory sucks so they have to use bionicle to promote it".
-
Depending on which joints cracked, you're probably better off just buying different pieces. The 2008-2010 socket mold was incredibly prone to breaking. Unless the color isn't available, you should see about getting some of the pre-2008 socket pieces. The new socket mold used in constraction lines is also amazingly robust, so if you need some single socket pieces you might want to look into those.

Yeah I <3 this set. My one issue with it is the head mold, because to me the snout kind of looks like a duck's bill. But other than that, all-around fun and swoosh and glow in the dark! (I'm having the Razcal's Glider problem all over again, since I bought the set as much for the parts as the design, but now I love it and I don't want to take it apart. :( )

I have Dragon Bolt (and HF polybag [and yummy PaB order]) waiting for me at home. I ordered them the first day of the promotion (I think I mentioned it). I don't exactly know when I'll actually be able to get back home to get them, but I know they're there.
