It's finally here! I hope your all ready for a fun time at... -
The yearly pop culture convention is just around the corner! Get your costumes ready and your bank accounts emptied: it's going to be a fun filled event, complete with dealers, an artist's alley, celebrity appearances, a laser light show featuring some holographic idol from Japan, panels, and Q&A sessions! Meet new friends, and leave with unforgettable memories! As a special bonus, we're extending a special promo to all Eurobricks members! When you pre-register your tickets to enter the convention enter this promo code for a special discount: KINT0B0R --- Welcome to Kintobor's Cosplay Mafia! This is a standard mafia game, and follows the standard format of most Eurobricks mafia games, but if you haven't completed a School game, don't fret: you'll still be able to sign up. Before we can begin, I need at least 15 people to sign up to get this game started. When you sign up, please make sure to answer the following questions: 1. Have you played Mafia before? If yes, what kind of experience do you have with Mafia? 2. Will you be able to participate for the next four to six weeks? 3. You're heading off to the local convention! Which character from pop culture do you dress up as? Sign ups will continue until we get 15 players, but I can extend the amount of participants if need be by a little. As said above, sign ups are open to everyone, so get the word out!

I came over to your display early Saturday morning before the show opened up. I asked you guys a bit about the layout your club had set up. I also showed a few of the members of your group my WIP railroad crossing that I actually have posted here on Eurobricks. I also inquired about where you guys were located (Toronto, if I recall?) I've been doing train shows for years now, probably starting back before 2009. I've exhibited both HO scale and Lego, but I haven't been able to get around to shows as much lately. Lego layouts tend to draw a crowd, as I've learned since I was younger. I still get show coordinators wanting me to come to their shows and display, and I'm not a large LUG with a massive layout. I was assisting one of the vendors over the weekend I ran into your group, and I got a little excited to see some Lego trains being displayed at the show. If I wasn't committed to assisting my friend I'd of probably hung around your layout all day.
-
Huh. I'm pretty sure I met you, dr. spock at the train show the first video was filmed at. I was poking around at your club's layout while I was assisting someone else over that weekend. Anyway, excellent work! I love seeing POV videos from model trains, and you've hidden your camera in a pretty sneaky spot!

Jurassic World 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion

For the D2C, I hope it's the T-Rex Paddock from the first movie. That scene is iconic, and for Lego to do a set based around that scene with the T-Rex and the Jeeps would be great. As for the other sets, I'm hoping for either a set based off scenes of the T.Rex in San Diego with Ian Malcolm, Sarah Harding, the car they drive around the city in and the T-Rex, or the riverboat that gets attacked by the Spinosaurus in the third movie. -
Kind of shocked no one's commented on this yet, because it's honestly really cute! I love how you did Hera's lekku. Good stuff!

Called it! These sets look pretty solid. I'm a little disappointed that Eichenwalde wasn't the big set of the wave, but hopefully we see it later in a larger set to do the castle justice. I'm a little shocked at how prominent Watchpoint: Gibraltar is, as the Tracer and Widowmaker kit is the payload for the map, and the actual Watchpoint: Gibraltar set is the map's final payload stop. Gotta say, I'm impressed with the D.Va mech. It's colour looks great, the size is excellent, and the D.Va figure seems to have one side winking and grinning and the other chewing bubblegum. Awesome! Love it! I'm also in love with the Mercy figure. As someone who used to play a lot as Mercy, Lego really did the character justice, and I'm also happy that Pharah comes in the same set. A common tactic in the game is to pit Mercy and Pharah together since their abilities compliment each other nicely, and the tag-team is affectionately called "Pharmercy, a take on the word pharmacy. The Bastion model is a nice surprise. It's not my cup of tea, but I know some people out there are going to enjoy it. If I had one complaint, it's the lack of a few characters that I was hoping would show up, namely Lucio, Roadhog, Junkrat, and Zarya. It's not the end of the world, and hopefully these sets sell well enough that Lego and Blizzard work on another wave so we can get at least the original cast of heroes as minifigures. I'm pretty excited for this theme, honestly! If anything hopefully this theme's success will give Lego some renewed vigour and try and work a deal with a certain well known Japanese video-game developer to try and get a Legend of Zelda kit produced. Please?

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

"If we're striking Rosier I can buff us to get people over the threshold and send her packing." Karie remarks. "I'd prefer it personally if this story ended with something other than "and then the heroes used a decamodifier." Not the most impressive ending for the history books, eh, Atramor?" Karie gives Gibbin a confident grin. "Besides, I kind of want to break this guitar over the back of Rosier's overtly large head." -

I sent a message out to Dragonator on the 10th of October to get their approval for the game. I have not received a PM back, and Dragonator hasn't been online for the past twenty days. I'm not quite sure at this point what my options are, but I can't run it without Dragonator's approval. -
Quick heads up: I will not be here until Sunday evening. If Karie needs to make an action, I trust someone will make one that doesn't put her in tremendous peril.

Karie downs a grand tonic from the back row, throwing the bottle at the Rosier once she had finished guzzling it down. "Oi! Yeah, I'm talking to you, you giant vegetable with limbs! I'm going to send you back to whatever realm you came from, and when I do, I want you to remember who it was that did so! The lot of us And if you ever get an inkling of an idea of returning, I intend to kick your megablocks so hard it'll cause you to think twice before doing so!" -

"I don't know if what I need right now is rage, Vindsval." Karie proclaims as she prepares her attack. "I'm in the mood to mess Rosier up, but I've vented out my rage back at the fort." -

Karie continues to strike Reinvigorating Root C. Karie looks away as the doppleganger of Kayla looks towards her. She can't utter the nerve to look at her sister in the state she was in, not even a doppleganger of her sister. She knew it wasn't the real Kayla, but something about seeing even a facsimile of her sister in front of her made her feel some amount of guilt. "I'm sorry, Kayla..." She muttered before continuing her onslaught of the vines. "Don't worry, Vindsval. I don't blame you for doing something I don't think I'd have the courage to do. That wasn't Kayla, and she never could be." -
The Widowmaker figure looks superb, maybe even a little too superb.

I mean, why would I pay to go and see the live-action Aladdin when I can pop the animated version in and watch it right now? Same goes for The Lion King and all the other animated films Disney wants to remake. The obvious answer is nostalgia laced money, but I still cannot fathom undermining your animated legacy by coming out with ultimately inferior live-action movies trying to come off as the animated counterpart. If you're not going to bring something new to the table, then why bother remaking a film? Now I'm going to commit a cardinal sin and admit that Lilo and Stitch has me at least a little interested. I like Lilo and Stitch as a movie, but I'll admit it has it's flaws, particularly when it comes to Stitch's scenes with the two initial aliens trying to recapture him. Sometimes they're funny, but other times they come across as derailing from the more interesting family drama involving Lilo and her older sister, which is in my opinion funnier and more engaging than Stitch's antics without Lilo. I think a remake could remedy those issues and make the film feel more cohesive, but it also could compound that particular issue I have with the movie. Out of all the movies that Disney's announced an interest in remaking a live action movie of, Lilo and Stitch has the most room to allow for improvement, and I'm kind of excited for that.

Sat through Warcraft. Eh, it was alright. Nothing I'm going to leap up and watch again anytime soon, but it wasn't bad. I think the film's first twenty minutes could've benefited from a rewrite, as I initially had no clue what was going on. I managed to piece it together before the halfway point of the movie, but it was still jarring. Overall, it's not a film I'm going to recommend anytime soon, but it wasn't bad.

UPDATE: Just sent in the game request to Dragonator. We'll see how this goes. -
Watched the first batch of episodes and was honestly surprised. I thought it was fun enough to consider keeping up with it. Kaz can get annoying, but I understand Disney's trying to market this to a younger audience. I like everyone around Kaz, oddly enough: the alien friend he makes, Yeager and his mechanic, the other pilots on the Colossus, the bartender and the other bar patrons, and everyone else on the fuelling depot are a lot of fun. I think with a bit of rewriting Kaz could be made a little less grating, but he's not insufferable. Overall, I'm enjoying it so far. I'll probably stick with it to see where it goes, and hopefully we get some neat Lego sets out of it. That red armoured TIE pilot's got a neat design going for him, and the fighters that have shown up so far have had some neat designs.

I've debated for the past few months, explicitly when the Super Mario Bros. movie was announced, and more importantly that it was being helmed by Illumination, how to handle a movie with the characters from Super Mario Bros. The answer is, well, you don't. Not without taking extreme creative liberties do I think you can make a Super Mario Bros movie, and I don't think that's something Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of the series, would allow. He's kind of a curmudgeon in that sense, but oh well. So, instead, I turned to franchises owned by Nintendo that could actually make decent films. I came up with three, and I know one of them will be surprising. This may be a little bit of a ramble, so apologies if some ideas seem to trail off while others end, and if some seem half baked. 1. Starfox: It's anthropomorphic animals in space shooting stuff in space ships. Fun, pulpy, space opera action cartoon series. I think you could do some interesting stuff with Fox McCloud believing he has to live up to his father's legacy and ultimately coming to the conclusion that he doesn't have to: he's his own person. His relationship with Peppy is something I want fleshed out, being the person who told him and his mother about his father's death at the hands of Pigma Dengar: the man who betrayed Peppy and James McCloud, and how ultimately Peppy became the father figure in Fox's life. I'm going to have James McCloud die shortly after his son is born. Fox McCloud has only been told stories about his father from his mother and Peppy, and most of what he knows of his father has been told to him by others. There's a character I want to see more of too: Fox's mother. I think she could have some pivotal scenes with Fox before he decides to bring back Star Fox and take on the mantle as team captain like his father. I'm kind of shocked there's been no real attempt to adapt it into an animated TV show, as I think it could be fun. It doesn't need to be groundbreaking, but a fun action series that follows a young pilot as he comes to terms with himself and the father he never knew. I can see it lasting for a twenty episode season to tell it's story, and if need be a second season that completely reworks the plot of Starfox Adventures could be interesting. I'd ensure that Krystal doesn't get captured in the Krazoa palace right of the bat and her and Fox have some time to actually establish a romantic relationship. 2. Metroid: Where Star Fox has a space opera vibe to it, Metroid is definitely got more of a horror vibe going on. The original game was inspired by Alien, and I feel like a film with a more mature tone could work. I'm going to pitch this one as a series, something similar to Pitch Black, with Samus Aran being wrangled into assisting a group of colonists or settlers on an alien planet with a problem they're having. It starts off rather mundane, with Samus and the colonists merely believing their problem to be dangerous but ultimately mundane until all hell breaks loose, Space Pirates get involved, Metroid wind up being involved, and Samus has to get into another confrontation with Ridley, the creature that murdered her parents, and ultimately a body count starts to tick up. Samus can't save everyone in the colony, and the film should push a PG-13 to keep Nintendo's family friendly appearance intact. It'd be a hard movie to get right, because ultimately it'd be an action/horror film with aliens being blasted left right and centre, but it's certainly one of Nintendo's easier properties to adapt. My idea definitely draws some cues from the Mad Max series, as Samus acts more as a character who's gotten involved in the plight of this colony and has no real stakes besides getting her pay, at least, until Ridley shows up. We learn about Samus's past, but enough to know that when Ridley and the Space Pirates show up that she takes her fight with Ridley personally. It'd end with Samus seemingly killing Ridley, saving what's left of the colonists, dealing with the Metroid problem, and Samus going off on her next adventure. 3. Splatoon: Oh boy, here we go. The oddball, the one no one was expecting. Splatoon's got the more focused plot out of any of the above movies, focusing on the relationship of Off the Hook's Pearl and Marina, how they met, and their career. It's a parody film of all of the biographical films on music groups while still being an adaptation of Splatoon. I'd cast actual actors to speak a language that's not whatever language is used in Splatoon, but I'd also use music from the game as a reminder that the movie is taking place in a world not our own. It's very much a movie about Off the Hook trying to keep their independence as artists, while still making it big, and trying to keep their group together as Pearl begins to find out that Marina's holding out on her when it comes to her past, and that Pearl is unintentionally doing the same to Marina. Pearl starts the movie off as a death metal singer with barely any fans but a lot of talent in terms of her vocals. She finds Marina on Mt. Nantai during a career crisis, and week after week the two meet up until Pearl decides to drag Marina to Inkopolis where she introduces her to the city and it's colourful cast of weirdos. Marina, worried about getting Pearl in danger with her former Octarian military squad who is hunting for her since she ran, is hesitant to do anything about Pearl's insistence on starting a band. I think a film about Pearl and Marina has more places to go than a movie based off of the Squid Sisters, although if I did, it'd be a much more sarcastic and sardonic movie about the Squid Sisters selling out and making oodles of money off of their music and likeness but losing what made them special in the first place.

Karie came to, jolted awake from the sudden attempts to leave the illusionary hall. She quickly tore the vines off of her and stood up, dusting herself off. She took one look at Rosier and scowled. "You are one ugly son of a bitch." Karie states in disgust. She notices her sister form from the dust as she joins the crowd. Karie targets Kayla from the back row with her Finely Tuned Guitar. -
I think we can safely say that D.Va's mech will be included in a kit. I believe we had a prominent mech builder from the community confirm they were contacted to be involved with the creation of the theme. Here's an image of said mech: I'd personally love to see Hanamura's first chokepoint/first control point turned into a set. There's a lot of nooks and crannies, and the building with the bell in the centre that acts as the first checkpoint would make for a wonderful centrepiece, especially since we don't often see a lot of traditional asian buildings. Eichenwalde is another area I'd love to see covered. The ruins of the German town with the Omnic wreckage could make for a cool set, and a kit based off the castle that makes up the final stretch of the map could include some great play features: the battering ram which acts as the payload could bust the doors of the castle down, the castle could include a portcullis for when the doors have been blown out, little ledges for sniping and destroyable walls to emphasize the attackers moving in, and the final resting place of Baldrich von Adler, his remains seated on the throne at the back of the castle as nature takes back his armour, could make for an excellent little build.

No apology necessary: it'd be like if a well known Lego designer or Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen came out to deliver the news and the Overwatch community had no idea who they were. I'm just filling in some information to help give people context.
