She gives Brickington a thumbs up. "Perfect!" She mouths. -
CURSE YOU ENDGAME! CURSE YOU!! YOU STOLE MY KILL!!! Can't say I totally saw it coming, but I had a feeling we weren't done yet. And now to make sure Karie doesn't become "Karie Quinn" again.

Karie, despite their current situation, was relieved. The hooded man had done her job for her. The Apprentice's death wouldn't be on her conscious. However, there was a new problem. Karie covers Brickington's mouth. She whispers into the knights ear. "Consider what you say carefully. We can't go about and expect every criminal to repent for his sins. You may think the world is painted in black and whites Brickington, but it's painted in greys. Technically his cousin screwed up, if we tell him that we'll keep our mouth's shut about this, we can all go home, and none of this ever happened. Tell the man the Apprentice assaulted us, and that we have no quarrel with the him. As far as we know, there is only one weapon, and this guy's a small time crook. Leave the Harvester for now, we can tell someone about it later." -

As Karie sulked to herself in the room opposite, she heard the two rangers discussing their options. She knew now that she couldn't leave this place without closure. She wouldn't be able to move on unless... Karie moves back into the room quietly, the door ajar due to the other two members of the party having left. She pushes Em out of the way and makes the Apprentice's decision for him. She plunges her Heirloom Dagger into his heart. She then twists it, looking into his eyes as she does it. "I hope this hurts you more than it hurts me." She whispers harshly, holding back tears. -

Karie stood up and headed for the door, taking her share of the loot. "If I were you boys, I'd let him rot here. I want nothing more to do with this." Just before she leaves the room, she looks at Brickington with a weary face, her makeup marked by tears. "Remember when I said I'd tell you when I wanted that drink? I want it when we get back to the hall." Karie leaves the room to be with herself. OOC: Karie hasn't left yet. She's just moping in the next room. -

Karie wipes the Apprentices blood off of her face, and walks towards the heap on the floor. She kicks him hard in the stomach, then knells on both legs looking at the sad individual. She looks about, ensuring the Harvester is nowhere near the Apprentice. If so, she kicks it away from him. "You are nothing short of a monster. I personally want to kill you, and slit your throat, and end your miserable little life right here and now. But that won't change what you did! I know you'd take personal pleasure in knowing how it felt, knowing how it made me feel to be your little meat puppet! Just remember that the woman you called a lab rat...." She begins to tear up. She takes a moment to herself, and then re-postures herself. "Was the one who killed you." She takes off the Apprentice's hood. OOC: No one kill the Apprentice, at least not yet, I would like to role play this out. -

Karie clambers up again. No response. Simply a look of hatred and determination. Her makeup was beginning to smudge. She attempts to plunge her Dagger into the Apprentice from the front row. -

*feels considerably less special than before, but still violated*
-
Yes, personally, I can see Karie wanting to see this guy hang. She may be a rogue, but she's not a criminal. And yeah for being the second person to be hexed! I feel so special! And also violated. Hmm. EDIT: Also, 100th post! Yay.

The remedy splashes all over Karie. Small doses of the remedy enter mouth. She blacks out for a split second, the remedies dose not powerful enough, but for that brief second she blacks out something strange happens... The orchestra starts up. A lone man stands in the spotlight. He appears to have done this before. "Wilkommen, bienvenue, welcome! Fremdah, etrange, stranger! Gucklich zu sehen, je suis echante Happy, to seeeee you! Bliebe, Reste, Staaaaay!" The man leans into Karie's ear. "Your audience is waiting for you..." In a flash of light, the stage goes black. All is quiet. Karie snaps out of her delusion, and looks about her, a little fuzzy from the Harvester's effect. She's standing next to the Apprentice, unaware of what just happened. She knows he's had his way. "You scum sucking freak!!!" She screamed. She forcefully attacks the Apprentice from the Front Row. -

"But then I wouldn't get to care about you, Mistah A." She replies. She stops hugging him and grabs her dagger from her belt, holding it in a rigid position. "Can I beat the living nonsense out of one of those lab rats for ya, puddin'?" She stares blankly at the party. -

"I love being your assistant, Mr. A." She states, in a monotone, but loving voice. The out-of-her-mind Karie affectionately puts her head on the apprentice's shoulder, hugging him tightly. OOC: If this isn't allowed, let me know, just trying to role play the character accordingly. -

So much to love about this wave! The Medusa looks even better now that we have the images, and the Revolutionary Soldier is also really good. I can't see a single bad minifig in the line up.- 1,076 replies

Heroica RPG - Quest #56: The Stealer of Senses
Kintobor replied to Endgame's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Tis pity, we'll hold a funeral afterwards." Karie replied to the Apprentice, with a voice so dry it could turn a grassy plain into a desert. "And why should I care? You've been a right jerk since you dragged me into this dingy place!" (beat) "Since you dragged us into this dingy place! You know something though, I'm really curious as to why you decided to follow the path that you knew would get you killed. Your aunt and parents both died due to involvement with criminal activity. Yet you chose to follow suit. And now, here we are at the end of the line it seems. You and two itty- bitty little snakes, versus the five of us." She looked dead straight at the apprentice, her eyes attempting to pierce through his mask. "Who truly is the "lab rat"? The five of us, or you, a stooge working for your deranged cousin who obviously finds delight in the harming of others." She readied herself. "Something to consider, before I beat you senselessly to no end, Lab rat." She attacked the Apprentice from the back row. -

"Hmm... decisions, decisions. Eenie, meanie, minie... no, I'm not taking chances with him..." Karie didn't want to take chances, but in this business, it seemed as if that was the name of the game. She swiped at the Anacondie from the back row. -

OOC: If only he could hit him! XD "Leave that stupid Vipunch for later, we can't risk him healing the Anacondie, especially at this point of the fight, where it could easily go south if we don't plan this accordin'ly. What's your say, automaton?" -

"Well, it wasn't as bad as the potion, but still, totally gross." Karie remarks about the remedy. "Right, seems as if nothing too fancy happened back there. We really ought to leave that Vipunch for later, and get that stupid, ugly, really scary Anacondie out of the way, along with Pimple Face and the Hissticuffs. We really need to decide what were doing next as a group, now that we're all set and healed." -

Karie feels ill to her stomach, despite having defeated the snake, it left its mark. She rummages through her pouch. She feels a chill through her hands, as they begin to shake. "This remedy better taste better than those stupid potions." She mutters. She braces for the worst, and downs the remedy from the back row. -

"I swear the taste of these potion's needs to be improved." Karie states in a dry tone. She feels slightly light headed as the poison takes its toll. "Right, my suggestion is to keep up the attack, and put the stragglers down! Whoever's dealing with the Histicuffs be careful, the last thing we need is a knocked out party member!" Karie attempts to plunge her Dagger into the Cobrawler from the back row. -
I suppose that makes sense. Perhaps shelving it for a later discussion would be best, and coming back once quest 50 has simmered down for a while. On that note, I've been following quest 50, and I must say that the battle system is very unique, it looks like it would be interesting to apply to various other scenarios.

I think that a Pit-esque idea could work, perhaps like so: The Cave of Ordeals -the party enters at floor 1 of 40 -each room has a possibility of three battles, so in room one, the party could enqounter a swarm of vermin, undead, or aquatic creatures -the party cannot backtrack, they must move forward into the cave -every five floors we'll say has a rest area, where the party can rest, or leave if they feel like it. -depending on how deep the party goes, will change which items they can receive as a reward -a party that reaches floor 40 will be given a bonus reward, as well as a title -heroes level as normal -the only way to leave the Cave of Ordeals is by either leaving at a rest point, or if TPK happens, in which case the party is given no reward except whatever items they collected in the Cave. -add an item specific to The Cave that allows players to see 3 floors down, so they can see what lurks ahead. - finally, add in a leaderboard, so that players can see whose gotten farthest onto the pit Just my two cents on the idea. Run it as an Unlimited Quest, or perhaps an Unlimited Quest that expires, and after a set period of time the quest is no longer available. Any thoughts?
