Heroica RPG - Quest #56: The Stealer of Senses
Kintobor replied to Endgame's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Wow, I must say ranger, the non- robotic one, your not as much of a physco spider talker at all. I don't think I caught your name, what was it again?" Karie whispers to the ranger. Mustering up a bit of courage, Karie pokes her head slightly around the corner, to look at who, or what they're dealing with, trying to draw as little attention to herself as possible. -
No prob!

Karie halts when she hears the other voices. She turns back and whispers to the other party members: "That guy with the blue font is obviously the snarky, jerk faced Apprentice. As for the guy with the green font, I don't know who he is. Is he possibly the master mind behind this whole scheme?" Karie pondered on the subject. "Wait, why was I talking about font colour?" Karie draws her dagger out, and remembers the poison bottle she brought with her. She knew who this was being used against, but if the man with the blue font wasn't the apprentice... "We need to consider what Mr. green font just said. If the apprentice is ahead, we're screwed, skewered, and dead. However, it could be someone else... And what is with this font talk, jeez, I think this place is getting to my head!" -
I'm not sure what you mean, I currently have 20 in my information, but if you wanted to swap out your loot for mine, I would more than consider it fair. Edit: I see what you mean. I have 20 gold, and it's a fub on the DM/GM/HM's fault. I currently have 20 gold, not 30, Endgame.

Karie looks at the non- robot ranger, of whom she wasn't sure whether she knew his name or not, with a hint of surprise, for one, he had just spoken after a long period of silence, and two, what he just said actually was something she hadn't even thought of. "Well, he's certainly resourceful, for a spider whisperer." She thought. Karie goes back to her own little world centered around picking an un-pick-able lock. -
That's great to know, I'll keep that in mind next time. I'll be bringing a pony instead. I think the last thing any of us want is a chapter dedicated to us in Fifty Shades of Bley.

"Stupid lock..." Karie mumbles to herself. Noticing the failure the rest of the party's having, she notices the Cymbalroots oozing head. (thanks big voice in the sky!) Before she can move however, the ranger constructs a make shift Bat-rope/plant rope/lasso of truth and flings it at the key. Karie goes back to messing with the lock, despite knowing she can't break it. The key slides off the key, and back onto the floor. "You forgot something." She retorts, smirking, still picking the lock. -
He obviously has the hots for one of the party members. In all honesty, I'm really loving the quest. For my character to be thrown off her high, snarky horse and to get upset with at least one of the party members already is a role players dream. Really looking forward as to where this is going! As long as it isn't torture.

OOC: nevermindGMnottryingtohelpusarie Karie gets up and goes back to examine the lock, and if possible, tries to pick it. While examining the lock, Karie mumbles to herself. "Last time I hop into a quest all willy nilly. "Oh Karie, this is going to be so easy, find a sense stealing maniac and bring him to justice!" Oh, we found him alright! Stupid apprentice and his stupid outfit..." -

OOC: hinthintbigvoiceintheskyisgivingusaclue Upon hearing the party leader suggesting the option of sleep, Karie stares him down. "Oh yes, lets sleep here, and get tortured with tomorrow! What a grand idea! We all know who's getting played with first!" Karie pushes the automaton ranger out of the way and measures the Cymbalroots stock. -

"Thanks." Karie replied to Arnulf. "I appreciate it. And not in a sarcastic way either." The man Karie considered to be a possible problem was turning into a trustworthy friend. "But am I a good friend?" She thought. Her mind was still on edge from the apprentice. His words were still lingering in her mind, like vultures over carrion. She shoved them down inside her for the moment and continued to go about examining the objects of interest. -

Having lost all sense of control, Karie stands up and lurches for the bars, as she watches the apprentice walk down the hall, tears strolling down her face: this time for real. "DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!! I'M GETTING OUT OF HERE, AND THEN... AND THEN..." She couldn't finish what she was going to say. Anger had taken over her, anger which stemmed from a still lingering fear. "I AM NOT A LAB RAT!" She yelled. Karie's emotions were running too rampant for her to think straight at the moment. With a weary sigh, she closed her eyes, and clutched the bars. A familiar face looked at her. "This isn't like you, Karie. Get out of here. You'll find a way. I know you will." He smiled, and then vanished like a breeze on the wind. Karie opened her eyes. "Thanks mate." She wiped the tears from under her eyes and pulled out a small mirror and flicked it open. She began to touch up the smudged face paint, as well as her lips and eyeshadow. She jumps up and down and shakes her body a little to get back in the right mind set, then looked at the party. "Right. Dipstick left the key right in front of us. My drumstick lock pick plan failed completely, so we need to find another way out of this cell." Karie examines the ooze coming out of the plants head, mainly to see if it's corrosive. She then examines the lock, specifically what kind of lock it is and what it's made of. She then looks across the hall, looking for an approximate length from the cell and the jail bars. She then turns to Brickington and holds her hands out. "Brickington, can I see your sword, I want to know it's long it is." -

Karie, somewhat exhausted form trying to squash the arachnid, takes a seat against the wall, and puts the dagger against her fore head. "Well that was fun." She remarks, the typical smirk replaced with a look of exhaustion. Her mind drifted from the battle to the masked man staring her down. Lab rat, lab rat, lab rat... "I am not a lab rat." Karie reassures herself, saying it in her head. "You will one day enjoy every second of being under my thrall. May that day come soon." "I am not... a lab rat." Karie softly whispers to herself, panting slowly against the wall. She prays to some god for the first time in a long while, that she's right. OOC: Now, since we are all level 1, we all go up a level. Does this take place right now, or on completion of the quest? -

"If we get out of here alive, I am seriously reconsidering my career choice if I can't hit a STUPID SPIDER!" Karie, frustrated at herself, strikes the Weeping Widow from the front row. -
Thank you CallMePie, I will go look that up. Just a bit curious is all.

I've had some ideas for quests for a while, and although I want to get a hang of things and play a few more quests before I run my own, I have a question about a specific race of creatures: Mermaids. In Olegaia, are they more siren like, driving sailors to their doom, or more along the lines of pretty maidens who just so happen to have fish tails?

Karie, in bewilderment that she can't hit the persistent arachnid, takes a look at her dagger. "Work! Work you stupid dagger! Stab the stupid spider, than we can deal with... him." She attempts to thrust her dagger throught abdomen of the Weeping Widow from the front row. OOC: Shouldn't the Weeping Widow be at 13 damage, not 14? By the way, really loving the Cymbalroot as an enemy, very clever! -
That's it, it's official, I'm picking this one up. The train looks gorgeus, the minifigs lovelt, and it even comes with track! (that I can't use since I'm running 9V, but whatever)

Karie stands up, in defiance and wipes the tears from her eye "Damn it! There goes that plan." She looks at Brickington. "Sorry mate, I didn't want to blow my rouse." She glares at the Apprentice, and lunges toward him, the bars protecting him from Karie's intense stare. SHe smiles twistedly. "Once I deal with your cronies, your going to regret calling me a lab rat, and then, were going to see whose begging for torture!" Karie backs away from the prison bars and draws out her dagger, swishing it around in her hand, flicking her wrist and doing impressive feats with it. She was ready for combat, her ponytail bobbing up and down. "Right, that Warring Widow should be our first priority. We should focus on it first, than move onto the Weeping Widow, since it's healing abilities are going to be a pain. I'm thinking 3 gang up on the Warring Widow, 1 on the Weeping Widow, and 1 on that stupid plant thing for our first attack. -

Karie tugs Brickington's pants, looking for his sympathy. "Please Brickington, I'm your pal right, I'm your friend, than use your chivalry, or whatever it's called and GET ME A DRUMSTICK! Please Bricky!" At this point she's almost on top of him, standing on her tippy toes, a delirious look on her, tears forming under her soft blue eyes. Truly, a pitiful sight. -

Karie begins to wreath in pain, she moves back from the steel bars. "But I'm sooo hungry!" She stares into the Apprentice's eyes, crawled into a heap on the floor, giving him the most pitiful face in all of Eubric, the white paint smearung of and her askewed hair and mask complimenting this dishreveled heap on the floor.. "Surely your master wouldn't want one of your test subjects to be malnourished? Please, one chicken drumstick! Please?"
