Thank you :$ It's downloadable. If you have LDD installed you can see the details. I just built stairs up to the upper floor as interior. I didn't go more into details. I used 2x4 and 2x2 bricks between the levels. And with the walls being 1-wide bricks that leaves you with a row of studs so you can use plates to seperate the floors and the attic. There are no stairs to the attic, access should be accomplished with a ladder - which is not in the assortments, though. And yes, I try to build minifig-scale only. That's why I had to use 2 assortments to get all the pieces. I'm not into that micro-scale-stuff. I grew up with minifigs, I build minifigs. Although I acknowledge the micro-scale models, make no mistake here. u-hu... It's the easiest assortment to build with if you're an inexperienced LDD-user (as I am)...

It's just a house...

It's finally approved! Tons of new models showed up since yesterday. No wonder it took them forever to approve. Seems like everybody's trying it just to see their model(s) online and share. We'll see how good it sells... Mine's made of 393 pieces but I'd have to buy 1084 - hence the price ain't very attractive :'( Edit: WHOA! I just added it to my shopping cart (to see how it feels to buy your own design) and it showed the price as a discounted price - 54.25 instead of 67.85! Not very attractive if this really is a discount (cos it just started or something)...

Exactly.

It's a synonym for TLG's "versions" of "soon" or "in the near future" or "in progress" or "under development" or "being considered"...
-
The program itself isn't that bad. Could be better, but it's ok. At first I couldn't figure out how to use it but once I got the knack it's quite ok. As for ordering on bricklink: definitely the better choice at the moment. If you like draw a model with LDD, have a part-list printed and order exactly that stuff on bricklink or the parts you're missing. @phes: early or not, the system of selling pre-packed bags won't change. Maybe LDD will change to showing the bags and not the sets but the factory system won't change to selling single pieces. That would be an official bricklink - which TLG can't afford (at least not before 2090)...

It's been almost 3 days and my model is still pending approval. This is no fun... >:(

Of course not. Nowadays only Vikings stuff seems to be interesting... As for the pics: whatever you wanted to show - these guys do not look alike. Not even close...

Oh yes, a lot can go wrong, that's why I haven't gone at it yet. I wouldn't see problems with ship-hulls, though, cos they're not as fragile as train-tracks, which require some tweaking in my case. But, since I don't wanna risk anything, I will probably consult the fellow's services I mentioned in this thread.

Not one. It just made sense to me to use a Dremel cos it's the only tool I can think of that has small and fine enough saws...
-
The all-time favorite non-LEGO LEGO-tool: the Dremel. *glasses* It comes with sandpaper-tools for edge-smoothening so there's no problem with fitting the parts together. Train-track-modders use it all the time. If you use a hand saw, though, it could get a little ugly... Well, that comes with the territory, I'd say. If you want realistic models don't use LEGO. That the models ain't always perfect is the charme of our beloved toy, I think...

Cut them in half, longitudinal, and fill the "gap" with basic plates (or bricks in case of the bow).

Still pending approval... |-/

Of course... stupid me... *wacko* That's why I used them, I don't have any other space to put my stuff. It's more expensive than your average or self-made table but since I'm a lazy person when it comes to home-improvement I didn't mind spending the money... I'll try to put the boards in perspective when I get home... The wide boards are 80x50 cm (about 31.5"x19.7"), the small ones are 80x30 (about 31.5"x11.8"). So, one's not wide enough for a circle but altogether it should be enough to make a nice little track layout. I can't cram more in the room than there's space for anyways, so I have to compromise. Then again, at my last place I didn't even have a separate room...

You're the expert, I don't know any other ships than BSB and SES. And to me this one resembles BSB most... But it's Black Hawk anyways... ;) Edit: How about this one or this one?
-
Now that's what I like about the English language: you can make a noun out of anything. That one's funny.
-
Well, I'm finally done with my base-table-construction. I had to rearrange it altogether cos the original layout wasn't very well accessible. Since I don't have space to walk around it I had to make it accessible from the "front/center". So I decided on a U-like arrangement. The whole setting up went smoother than I thought. Here's some pics in case somebody cares ;) They are in chronological order beginning with the original arrangement. Now, where to start with the actual LEGO-layout - I have no clue...

My model's still pending approval |-/ Then again, it's 5am in the States where the approvers most likely sit... then again again, online-teams have to be around 24/7 *twisted*

Do you check inventory lists before buying LEGO?
Hobbes replied to Mister Phes's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Never. Too much stress. I do buy sets for parts, though. But I go by the pictures on the box and if it's a display-worthy set. Sometimes I'm in the mood to build something off an instruction and not start a MOC. In this case the set has to have some display-value. If not I buy parts on ebay or bricklink. Then again, I am not an AFOL in the sense many (American) builders think of the term. What I sometimes read on LUGNET what some guys go through to build something... no thanks. It's a hobby, not an obsession... -
6d Nothing spectacular, but I like the colors and the nice details: http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=59541

You're not alone, I'm only 6 years "behind" you. At our age that's like minutes compared to all them youngins here ;)

As for the approval I can't say anything, mine's still pending. Upload didn't take long. After the progress bar in LDD is "full" your browser opens and you see some sort of Legal Statement from the LEGO Factory. From there on it's clicky-clicky (accepting the disclaimer, price check, logging in to LEGO, sharing in the gallery) and you're there. So, the "sign" that the upload worked is your browser opening. hth
-
That's right. And I don't like it. I just finished a model out of two assortments because I needed some more parts and didn't want to compromise. I ended up using 393 pieces. After uploading, though, I saw that I would have to buy 1084(!) pieces. Of course, the price was accordingly. I don't mind having to buy a few more pieces than used but almost three times as much?!?! >:(

I think I just figured it out... bricks do snap now... didn't know/think that you have to turn the grid to put them together correctly. The "guessing enginge" of the program's not the brightest... but I think I'll give it a try...
-
I experienced that brick-bouncing, too, and I wasn't even trying SNOT technique. But then again, CAD-like programs are a complete mystery to me, so I'm not a good reference anyways... I think I stick to the conservative "real life model building process" and upload a picture or something and have them figure out how it was built. Smart designers as they are they are sure faster reverse-engineering my model than me figuring out LDD... |-/
