I'm pretty sure the inspiration for the picture jngunsw posted was a drawing of Mauris Cornelis (or MC) Escher who is known for this type of optical illusions drawings. One of his most famous drawings would be without doubt this one:

I had the impression he was a little boy desperately seeking attention. Whether it had to do with his family or social life I can't say (although he did mention once that his brother insulted him all the time). I think he didn't know any better. He had been warned, yes, but he probably didn't understand it. So he behaved for a while and did it again. Still, the ban is right, since it can't be a message board's job to educate people. The Admins are here to point to the correct way now and then but they're no teachers let alone parents. He was funny in a certain way, though.
