  1. It looks like Hogwarts is the only one to exclusively use beams and pins. Both Horizon and Winter Train used magnets in addition to the Technic connections. The Creator #40518 uses ball connectors but that seems to be by virtue of the scale. Seems like Hogwarts was a one-off...I don't think we have to worry about the magnetic couplers.
  2. Besides the Jacobs bogies on the Horizon and the Holiday Village loco / tender, what recent trains haven't used magnetic couplers? Hogwarts?
  3. I dunno about this...did they model this off a Siemens fright locomotive?
  4. You're right and this is good to keep in mind.
  5. 1. It really depends on the model and how easily it is to acquire the necessary parts. And how expensive. 2. I suppose dark red would be nice but a specific color alone won't be enough for me to drop $500. 3. I completely disagree with a gateway aspect. If the Disney train wasn't this one won't be either. EDIT: besides, what would it be a gateway to? A City train set would be a massive downgrade from what this will ultimately be and the Croc isn't available anymore, nor is the Disney train. This set isn't an attempt to expand the Lego Trains interest level...this is a desire to cash in on a HP line of UCS models, like Star Wars. It's been clear over the last few years this is the direction they're taking things.
  6. Nearly $500 for a train is asinine and disappointing. I'll wait to see what this thing looks like but I'm probably out at that price as I have no interest in the HP aspect nor the inclusion of a station. With the release of the Croc I really thought we'd get a semi-regular locomotive static model with the option to Powerup. And yet however many years later...
  7. Thanks to oversaturation because the Vespa isn't grabbing me.
  8. Is it safe to say this is the Creator Expert vehicle for 2022? If so, that's incredibly disappointing. I guess the Delorean would fill the void.
  9. Yes, that is one contributing factor. The vast majority of the rail lines in the US are owned privately by freight operators and as such, there is little investment into passenger service. Until Congress invests major money into high-speed infrastructure nothing will change. No one will ever do it privately because it will be too expensive and acquiring the land would be a nightmare, if not altogether impossible. As a country, we don't want to pay for anything that isn't a fancy f-off boondoggle of a military aircraft.
  10. I'm well aware of the platform. You seem to be limiting your definition of "station" to vast transportation complexes in which trains pass under or through. That is only one type.
  11. I realize different parts of the country have different rail-related infrastructure but this is not true. Plenty of small to medium towns and cities have stations. Some are modern, some are historic, and styles vary widely. But to say only state capitals have stations is incredibly inaccurate.
  12. Got it. Thanks. Looks like Barnes and Noble have them in stock around here. I may go hunting as Bricklink prices aren't the best at the moment.
  13. Whats the issue you guys are referring to? If that was a photo it will no longer load. Thanks.
  14. As with all City kits I lean more toward realism rather than fantasy. Most of the police helicopters have fantastical features that don't exist in the real world and very few fire helicopters exist beyond those that fight forest fires (at least here in the US). I also don't care for the bubble-type canopies as there just aren't many helicopters with open cockpits these days, especially in cities. I think 60013 60123 and 60166 were really well executed with approximate realism. With all that said, I had 6482 as a kid and I loved that thing.
  15. Exactly.
  16. I mean one might say they've put various layers of fail safes in place to ensure customer satisfaction and the ONLY reason we know about this is from leaks. Everyone needs to stop feeling so slighted and aggrieved. Hopefully it's released with a modified version of the print.
  17. It has nothing to do with "society" being "soft"...It's how they choose to represent their brand.
  18. I can see no structural / stability reason why it would be shelved. Maybe the chair? There's nothing objectionable about the figures so it only leaves the piece prints or the box / instruction booklet prints. A decent amount of resources have been sunk into this so if it's either of those two things I think it'll be released eventually with whatever corrections they deem appropriate.
  19. Somehow I was not aware of this. Seems like piece count is a relevant bit of info for all markets but what do i know?
  20. I saw an IG account post photos / video of a similar box. Seems odd to have a box printed for retail without the piece count / title but it matches the format of 40484. The "naughty list" issue seems a plausible.
  21. I cringe every time I see that proposed Ideas set.
  22. Here is my first attempt at decorating Honeydukes: https://imgur.com/a/bEckgTY I'm not sure how I feel about it but I'll probably stick with it for this season.
  23. Thanks, @RichardGoring and @GarmadonFan . I'd like to do something more to Honeydukes to make it a bit more festive. I have an idea or two but I'll have to see if my inventory will allow it. I think I'm done Bricklinking for now. Looking forward to seeing what others do / have done.
  24. The mockup takes the leaked image and superimposes it onto a box. It's the same image. Edit: Mrs. Claus appears to have this head (or some variation): https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3626cpb1398#T=S&C=3&O={"color":3,"ss":"US","rpp":"200","iconly":0} which would be slightly different than the Build a Figure Mrs. Claus. The torso and gown prints look to be new.
