After several Bricklink orders I finally got my Hogsmeade set winterized: https://imgur.com/a/I8NAGQ0 Honeydukes is basically the same except for the fully snowcovered roof. The tavern was made more festive with wreaths and greenery, along with the snowcover. I didn't find the chimneys to be very realistic so I omitted them. I also added some eaves to the gable ends and copied the gingerbread-like detail from the rest of the structure. The resulting roof panel isn't quite as rigid as I'd like but it's not fragile either...I suppose on par with the original construction stability. I haven't yet wired it up for lights and it's 50-50 whether I find time to tackle that this year. We shall see.

Looks like there was good reason to leave that Lego Store calendar sparse...

Pretty decent GWP. Hopefully it sees light next year. I really like the wreath and wall sconce builds. Mrs. Claus does look like a nice minifig...I have several Santas but no Mrs. I'm not sure how I'd work this into my display.

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
CDM replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Probably none. My son may want the space sets but he has quite a few from the last wave. In fact he's getting 60229 for Christmas. I typically buy one or two from the City line, Great Vehicles usually, just to build and have but there's just nothing interesting to me so far. -
FYI: if anyone is looking for the Gingerbread House, check your local Target. My store had 30-35 copies displayed on 2 separate endcaps.

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
CDM replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
ICYDK: Not long ago this would have been against NASA's graphic standards but they revised them to reintroduce the Worm logo. The Meatball on the capsule and Worm on the boosters is accurate placement for the Artemis program. I do find it odd to have NASA branded sets coexisting with City Space sets BUT I suppose it makes sense given the rise in private space companies. I suppose City Space is the Space X (eyeroll) of Legoland. -
Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion

I appreciate the target market here but when you compare the current designs to those released 4 or 5 years ago there is an obvious decline. The vehicles are less realistic and most look half baked. The forced character themes are repetitive and unnecessary. How many heist-focused sets do we need? -
Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
CDM replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
The moon base has promise but the rest is garbage. I’ll reserve judgement on that sub-theme until I see the rest. The police subtheme is more of the same: ridiculously designed vehicles and forced crook character themes. The hospital is a huge bore. And why do they keep using that tiny brush guard? How disappointing. Looking forward to seeing more but I’m not hopeful. The decline continues. -

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
CDM replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I can't help but notice the highlighted days on the December Lego calendar. May mean something...or nothing at all. ** This is merely an observation and not based on any kind of inside knowledge. -
I've always associated Winter Village displays, Lego or otherwise, to be made up of public buildings and private homes, the latter mainly due to the wide variety of ways a house or cottage could be decorated for the holidays. Growing up all of the ceramic village displays I remember all had house structures. But with that said, I appreciate that it's all subjective.

Given the recent supply chain uncertainty it's possible they left things off the calendars in case certain GWP were unavailable at the time of the intended promotion, which seems to be Brickfanatics implication. Another possibility is the Dec GWP was in the works but not available in time. I think there is still a possibility for another holiday themed GWP to pop up.
-
One thing of note: Skiing Santa is an in-store offer only. I find it odd they wouldn't offer an online eligible GWP at all in December.
-
I managed to find a seller on Bricklink willing to sell me just the Hogsmeade buildings for $40 in new condition. It may be worth checking out the listings.
-
Building mine currently with some alterations to make more snow-covered and festive. My display won't go up until next weekend so I probably won't have pics until then.
-
$60 tax and shipping? That's not realistic. Fact is it had been for sale for 2 years and was available from Lego as recently as last month. Honestly, the way people hoard and flip sets these days, $140 for an out of stock WV kit right before the holidays doesn't seem all that outrageous.

Not sure what you're asking. Gingerbread House 2019 - 21, Elf Clubhouse 2020 - 22, Santa's Visit 2021 - 23 (presumably). How deep into the EOL year depends on stock...for instance, Gingerbread sold out in the US at the end of Oct and slightly earlier in Europe. The Elf Club House should come back in stock after the first of the year and be available at least through summer of 2022.

10267 Gingerbread House is going EOL this year. Looks like the clubhouse will be available through 2022.

2-pin 12v LED striplight powered by a regular brick transformer. Not sure the color temp but they're on the warm side. I tested the strip this weekend and they're quite bright so I'll run it through an in-line dimmer / controller, which should be here today. This particular strip is 3 diodes per cut, spaced approx 1" apart so each piece will be kinda big. My village sits on a mantle and the backs face the wall so while I'll try to keep everything as discrete as possible I'm not really concerned about the size of the strip.
-
I've been bit by the LED striplight bug recently and today I ordered supplies to light my WV. Nothing crazy, just some warm white strips to light the buildings from the inside. Depending on how this goes I may add multi-colored fairy-type lights.
-
Wow that's disappointing. Glad I didn't wait on it.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 22. Rumors and discussion
CDM replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
On one hand, this series seems very disappointing. On the other, the one figure (so far) I'm interested in should be easy to ID by feel: the raccoon w/ trashcan. -
Lego has done a good job of clamping the photo leaks. We'll know for sure in a few weeks when the Black Friday mailer is released but no reason to believe there won't be two GWP per usual.
-
If you're looking to swoop I think some supplemental support will be needed at the hooves although I'm not sure how discrete that would be. Maybe some clear Technic beams?
-
This is a great idea but my wallet just punched me in the kidney. Couple with another costume party minifig series...
