    Everyone is hating on the cobblestones...I think it looks fantastic and adds to the overall model, even if a lot of parts. Plates with printed cobbles wouldn't look nearly as nice, IMO.

    The most recent toy shop (2015) uses it to light the second floor workshop and on the fire station it lights the upper floor and bell, so occasionally they switch things up.

    According to leak: set #11387, 1345 pcs, light brick is making a return...so there's that.

    The figures glow in the dark!....dang, that's an upgrade for me. I wasn't sure about the brick-built tree, they always look weird and sparse to me, but it is awfully effective here. Ugh am I starting another collection?

    It looks like the center of the lower level is 6 studs deep at the interior, the upper floor looks to be 4 studs. The right side (looking from the outside) utilizes 1 x 4 swivel hinge plates to create an odd angle so not sure how that affects depth on that side. Overall what I expected size-wise...not sure about execution (no pun intended). I think I need to see next year's to judge how cohesive the theme is. This is a wait and see for me.

The designer claims it can run on standard track (in an elevated position?) but I'm not sure how that's possible with the skirting. I personally would purchase this as a display piece but, again, gotta see how it evolves, with price being a pretty big factor.

    I just placed two Bricklink orders and managed to get he vast majority of the necessary add-on parts. Buying all new pieces and shipping from US stores I got 95% of the parts for $38.xx and $19.xx shipped. Not terrible. I don't plan on motorizing so i won't have those expenses. Side note: some of these BL stores always make me laugh with absolutely ridiculous pricing. Just bonkers stuff.

    Oh man, that's going to be a pricey build once you collect all the supplemental parts for the Bs. Share pics when it's done!

    I'm pretty excited for this one and I think I'm going to pick up two copies for the B-unit. I have a bricklink list for the supplemental pieces and hope you have all those in hand by Nov when these things ship. This will be a static piece for me so I'm not at all concerned about 8-wide vs 6-wide. I also want to rebuild the base to look like the Croc base using the 16L individual rails.

    I really like the model and the price is alright given the nature of the series...tempted to buy two sets and convert the second to a F7B. I wish it used the track pieces from the Croc model but I'll have to rebuild the base anyway so what's another couple pieces from Bricklink? Or maybe it's more cost effective (or a wash) to just Bricklink the B unit. I guess i have a few weeks to figure that out.

    Well, yes, but my point is the storage containers for modulars would be larger and would require more storage space, which is not something I'm interested in.     One of the nice aspects to the current WV theme is they're detailed but (relatively) easily stored...modulars would be more difficult. I never started a modular collection and I probably wouldn't get on board with a holiday modular. Too pricey, too big, displayed for ~2 months of the year. I'm hoping for an inspired WV entry this year to inject some life because my interest could be fading.

    A firehouse is of benign context and, in a lot of towns in the US (mine included), the fire department plays a role in the "arrival of santa", using the ladder truck to decorate, and is active in coordinating things like toy donations. No flaming tree or house fire are depicted. Conversely, what constitutes a police station? A jail cell, basically. No thanks. Regarding the possibility of a haunted village...depending on the depiction I could be into that. In fact I'm starting to accept the possibility that the winter village may have run it's course so if it were to replace the WV, maybe not a bad idea.

    I'm a no on a police station. They'll inevitably feel the need to fill the interior space with a jail cell.

    I'll wait for official images but on first look it's Trash Monster for me and nothing else. Which, saves me some money, I guess.

    Something like this would either result in a substantially reduced piece count to stay at the current price point or a $200 WV set....and neither option sounds particularly enticing.

    I skipped this year's train and instead picked up the 40573 Christmas Tree and 40746 Santa's Delivery, both on the cheap(ish), to add to the village. Like @Christmas Jack, I too am maxing out my available space, and my post office and alpine lodge remain unbuilt for now. Anyway, has anyone modded 40746 to be a model of a more traditional vintage looking delivery truck? I'm not a fan of the open cab look and would like to do something with this that gets rid of the workshop play aspect.

    This car design is really fun and it makes me want to add to my set, even though I know it'll get pricey. I'll have to see if prices drop before it goes EOL. I lucked out earlier this summer and found a set with a damaged box at a LEGO store at a discount. I found the build to be pretty enjoyable and, now that it's built, I'm fine with the size of the engine / details / etc. I found it interesting that while my set had the updated sticker sheet it did not include the new printed city tiles. I assumed they'd be sealed in their own small bag and tossed in on future runs. In any case, i opened a ticket for the tiles and the packing list says it includes a sticker sheet as well.
