TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff
Spitfire2865 replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
On what track does it run? I mean the model you intend to make. Minifig scale? Or L gauge for maybe Miniland.- 578 replies

Do the axles and gears line up? It could be something simple like that.

Im sure you can find the missing covers on Bricklink. The wheel pins can be bought on Lego Pick A Brick in packs of 2. Its called Prepack 2 axles and its under Transportation in PAB.

Those arent white bases. They are brick built to look like it. Easily spotted in the picture.

And the loco looks nice. Interesting pantographs.

For separate bricks, there always is Lego Pick-a-Brick, Bricklink, and eBay. All 3 are good options.

Building Emerald Night. Is correct what I did?

Building Emerald Night. Is correct what I did?
Spitfire2865 replied to robt's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Odd, You must have a newer printing as My page 6 doesnt show it in the axle. Though it does show it built. I cant help you if its necessary or not because my EN was scrapped sometime last year. I really wouldnt bother with it as the axle gear should hold the other one in place. My EN worked fine without it I believe -
I think the issue arises with the original design. If trackpins were used, he would have to change the sleepers to allow a trackpin to be fitted. Easier having the hidden connection design. Unfortunately it doesnt work well. I was really hoping to get a bunch of plastic railed tracks. Lets all hope for the best!

TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff
Spitfire2865 replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I looked at the spacing of the axles and they are not evenly spaced. There is a 2-1/2 stud gap between the outer and middle axles. The rod will not work with the uneven spacing.- 578 replies

Modifying Power Functions to allow more options
Spitfire2865 replied to sirrobin's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Dont use power functions. Make an electric switch mechanism. It should be fairly easy to make assuming you can find the correct parts. There is a topic on this forum of a custom electric switch design using normal train track. It shouldnt be hard to find. Sorry but I dont know exactly where it is. Title is something like "Electrify your track switches". Something like that. Good Luck! Wait No, Here it is. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52106 Not sure if that comes out as a link or not but should be able to copy and paste. This idea was really interesting and I can see it being very useful for a large layout. -
Read the thing about the eyes, first thing I look at? Haha This is very interesting. Lots of textures.

The next Es co. Pneumatic Locomotive
Spitfire2865 replied to Electricsteam's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I cant wait to see the end product. -
And you are branching off from there? Hmm...Maybe a kind of coal loader, or a station, and change the opposite turn to a switch and make a second loop to said station?
-
A very interesting thought. But if you are going to go outdoors, Do it in G scale. It has been shown to work with Lego wheels. Just look on BigBenBricks gallery. There are one or two G gauge Lego trains
-
Oh, I figured that was just a siding. If that is where you are expanding, Cant wait for more!

Im sorry, But Im going to stop this argument before it starts. As much as I would love to be able to say there are no race issues in our world, I just cant without lying to myself. If anyone else would like to argue about this, Go ahead. Im quitting before this becomes an argument.
-
Im sorry, But there is a major problem with that idea. If the Lego Group changed to all Flesh heads all of a sudden then they could find themselves in an issue of race as they always intended to avoid. For the licensed themes you cant go back to yellow because it doesnt reflect the character you are portraying properly. I think it is a good idea that they made the licensed themes have flesh while the yellow heads were maintained for the Lego Themes. And Im sorry but the fact that YOU dont like to mix yellow and flesh is your problem alone. I know many people who dont mind the mix. Although I would like to see a wider range of Flesh heads as the Yellow heads have brought us. Still waiting for a basic Flesh head with Glasses.

Someone definately has to "borrow" an injection molding machine from Lego and make us all huge piles of straight track. Haha

This layout is so...Busy. Its hard for me to focus on one thing. SO many beautiful details.
