  1. There are lots of good BL sellers for spare parts needs... Try Tom's Brickstore (Germany). Very accomodating guy, the prices were also very competitive, some of the cheapest, i might say. http://www.bricklink.com/feedback.asp?u=TBS
  2. Buy the whole set, the prices of 9398 is dropping and consider you'll gonna have lots of other pieces too
  3. A used complete set of 990-1 costs around EUR50...You missed some of the signages but you got lots of trees
  4. you should have this screen after entering your age and country. I just tried it now and it works well. Click "To buy a piece" then this one Click "Bricks and pieces selection" Enter the Set number
  5. yup, shipping is the killer, almost cost half of the unit itself
  6. I also bought extra 8110 and 9398. My initial thoughts were to use them for parts. But afterwards, I am hesitant to open those box just for parts. Now I'm buying from BL for my spare parts needs...
  7. Get the 8043 motorized excavator first since it is already discontinued, though be prepared to pay much higher price. Is 8043 still available in your place? 9398 is much cheaper and still available in Lego.com, most toy stores and ebay.
  8. -Go to Lego.com -At the bottom of the page, click "Missing Parts" under Customer Service -Then enter your age and your country -Choose "To buy a piece" -Click "Bricks and Pieces selection" -Input the Set Number (8110, 8043, etc) -Now choose on the parts listed, it also list the price -Add pieces to your cart and checkout
  9. @ David - I ordered online, the prices are already posted when browsing for parts. I only called when my order is complete and I need to confirm it and upon payment. @ S.I. - yeah, we got lower VAT rate of 8% but all prices of commodities are jacked up way up high. @Tom - Swiss is not part of the EU and BL always put 19% on my orders though there are certain sellers which did not charge me VAT for my orders below EUR50. Also, I use IBAN for payment and if I pay for BL transaction outside Swiss, bank charges will be an added cost to my order. I use credit card for S@H. You are right that most of the items are cheaper in BL than S@H ( I bought my lift arms, pins, connectors, etc in BL and they are waaay cheaper than S@H.) But my particular order like the one I posted above, S@H is much cheaper versus the swiss suppliers in BL. I just want to consolidate my order to come up with the cheapest alternative. The prices shown on suisse is much higher (around 10-20%) than the one posted by S.I. but we got only 8% VAT. I ordered orange panels last friday, just waiting for confirmation if they will allow my order of 10 orange panels.
  10. Using Bricklink: -If I order only from Suisse, the shovel is not available. Plus the items that I need is much more expensive from them. -If I order from France/Germany, I need to add 19% VAT plus minimum shipping fee of 9 euros. So, S@H is the best bet.
  11. Got my parts from S@H, took 10 days to arrive. These parts are way much cheaper in S@H as compared to Bricklink, shipping is cheap too!
  12. Somebody already posted the battery relocation to the flatbed to balance the weight of the 8110 but I can't seem to find it. Would any one kind enough to post the link or the page if that said pics is located on this topic? thanks!
  13. Are you from Germany? the tax is really high! though your unit price is way much cheaper than ours.
  14. That's true..Here, Migros (Switzerland) sells lego way much cheaper than Manor and Franz Carl Weber..Since Migros have hundreds of branches, they buy bulk sets for all their branches, and for sure got a huge discount. Example is the Technic 8110 Unimog, Migros sells it for CHF198.00 vs CHF249.00 in Manor and FCW. Consumer wins!
  15. Yes, somebody already posted that he put the bricks inside unused socks, put the bricks inside, tie the other end of the socks and threw it in the washing machine @ gentle cycle Some useful links: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1777&st=200&hl=socks#entry1234801

  19. they may be useful for storing technic beams and other big plates though I didn't buy them, the 33 drawers is much more useful for me
