REVIEW: 8265 Wheel Loader
Rijkvv replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
A sticker sheet is included, isn't it? If I buy this, I don't use them anyway. I see the pictures now without stickers, and this loader looks great without . When I first saw pictures of it with stickers, I lost my interest, cause I hate stickers. But now I see one without, I think it looks even more beautiful. It's almost certain what I want for my birthday. Thanks for the review Blakbird! -
I understand you. But, the fire started small. If there was someone on board, he may have put out the fire. I don't know if the ship had fire extinguishers, I know at least the Batavia replica has. About rebuilding it: it's very expensive to build a replica. It's unknown yet if the ship will be re-rebuilt. @CGH: I have some brown bricks of the Sopwith Camel, is that enough? You can have them for free.
-
CGH, maybe you can build the ship scale 1:1, to replace the replica? I saw it at the news this morning. Very sad to see it on fire, and the masts falling. When I heard it was the Prins Willem, I tought about CGH. But when was the Batavia fire? I've visited it some months ago.

Imagine Yourself as a Lego Set Designer.
Rijkvv replied to Go Cubs Go!'s topic in General LEGO Discussion
An improved (maybe PF controlled) version of my Tyrrell P34. If it was possible without a license. I don't like licenses. Some ideas: -Ferrari 288 GTO -Ferrari F40 (if there is a license already, then take the full advantage of it) -a minifig-scale Greek trireme -a crusaders castle, with templar knights and teutonic knights, without fantasy For the rest mainly town vehicles and buildings. Like the current, but only better. I also have a list of possible military sets, but they will never be released. -
In general the sets made a big improvement. But as already mentioned, there are some exeptions. I think the older AT-AT was better. The Y-wing (2007) was a big improvement, but IMHO also better than the 2009 Clone Wars one. The original Hailfire Droid was also better than the new one. The only thing I don't like are the Expanded Universe sets and the cartoony faces. I prefer sets from the OT and PT.

^And 4,5V battery trains. I only use 9V. I don't have all what I need for the lay-out I'm planning, but I already know the trains will be 9V. Just because it's compact. What The Brickster says: it's possible to run different trains. The only trains you can't run are 12V trains. If I some day gonna buy the Emerald Night, I already have the track. The main disadvantage in my opinion is it's price and availability.

Needs more guns.

I want to build a new passenger train. To make it more realistic I want the train cars pushed together. I've seen many solutions, most of them with rubber belts. I don't want to use rubber belts, so I designed something in MLCad: -link -link What I want: since I don't have some of the required pieces, I kindly want to ask anybody if you want to help me and test if this coupling works. If the walking corridors (like in the Metroliner and Santa Fe) are pushed together, but if a train with this can run smoothly over curves and points. I want it to be used with this part. Not exactly, but the truck distance is the same. I noticed the turntable needs an additional plate for this base. If anyone would test it for me, I would be a very happy man. Details (for example building instructions) can be handled with PM. Other similar solutions are also welcome.

If they release double printed heads, they are only useful when the second face is covered. It's true you can see one face at a time, but if you walk around a diorama, and you see a face at the back? That must be dangerous for the neck.

Welcome to Eurobricks! Nice to see another one from the Netherlands, who likes studded Technic. Also nice collection!
-
Very nice. I like the grass on the loco. The 7750, I hope you can remove that 'sold' easily.
-
...if you look to a building, figure out how you can build it. ...knows what STAMP, SNIR, BURP and LURP means. ...knows what studded and studless means. ...you think at a LEGO set every time you hear for example '6399'. ...knows what Bley means. ...can find a bley piece in a barrel with 10,000 old grey pieces.

Not LEGO, but maybe useful for inspiration: Military equipment: Transformer: Construction equipment:

I think it will end. I hope so. But I hope the Castle line continues. The Crownies are nice, so why not more sets with them but without fantasy? The village is a great example. I really hope that if the Fantasy factions don't sell that well, TLG realizes there is still interest in Castle. @frogstudio: Where did you read that? I only saw pictures of faked sets.

I'm not happy with licensed themes, and the Toy Story figs look like M###Bl#ks, but I'm happy with those soldiers. I think they are very useful for MOCs.
-
I think the 9V system is better, but the 4512 is the worst 9V cargo train set. However, I voted for this one, since it has more possibilities to expend (the RC train base isn't very useful).

What!? And don't forget the Sopwith Camel.

If you could change any one thing about Lego...

I totally agree with you. And please, make non-fantasy Castle sets. -
I discovered an useful page about inclines for trains: http://www.ngltc.org/train_depot/inclines.htm

It's too hard, so I seperate my choices into different categories: Freight: 1. 4564 Freight Rail Runner 2. 4563 Load N' Haul Railroad 3. 7735 12 Volt Cargo Train Passenger: 1. 4558 or 10001 Metroliner with 4547 or 10002 Railroad Club Car 2. 10020 Santa Fe Super Chief (2x) with 10022 Santa Fe Cars Set II (3x) and 10025 Santa Fe Cars Set I (2x) 3. 10194 Emerald Night Engines: 1. 10133 BNSF GP-38 Locomotive 2. 10183 Hobby Train Set (main model) 3. 4551 Crocodile Engine

I agree about the minifigs. There is too less choice. I also would like to see many parts that are already in PaB in more colours. PaB has the same parts selection as LDD, right? It's very annoying if I want to build a vehicle (and maybe buy it), but the doors are only in red, and the mudguards in pink (for example).

Great MOC, and it fits very well between the official sets. It looks like an official one, actually. I have one question/suggestion though: the platforms between the tracks are 6 studs wide, aren't they? If you want to fit it in a lay-out, tracks should have 8 studs between them, it fits better with the geometry.
-
I only post it when it's finished. I have a lot of ideas for MOC's, but never enough pieces. So I design almost everything with MLCad. When I order parts, I start with building it, but I try to order as many parts as I can (and what's needed), so when I recieved my bricks I can finish a MOC. And it's not worth it to make pictures of the building progress. I used to upload MLCad pictures, but now I don't, because most of them will never be built.
