What New Themes or Sets would you like TLG to make?
Rijkvv replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That sounds like a great idea! Maybe the following sets: -Carriage wheels in all sizes; -Castle-style doors and windows; -Train wheels in all sizes, maybe also couplings; -Train doors and windows. -
I've seen the Lion King yesterday. It's still one of the best movies I've seen.
-
Yes, you're right there. I don't think children will loose their interest in Western.

I noticed the Dutch Plan V didn't have a pantograph. The real one has, since it's electric. I've expected the Miniland trains would have more detail, cause even the official sets based on electric trains have pantographs.
-
It's ready! With Legoland trains, more steam tips & tricks and more.
-
An intercity with an electric engine and some cars, more steam and more additional buildings and cars. Maybe a steam locomotive based on the Prussian G8 with some freight car, so there is also a smaller steam train.

Now taking YOUR ideas for the future of LEGO Pirates theme
Rijkvv replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
-a port as an exclusive set: a sort of mix between 10193 and 6277; -a subtheme for the Dutch East India Trading Company; -a merchant ship, maybe a Dutch East Indiaman; -an Imperial ship, the bigger the better; -buildings and guard towers to build a fort (Soldiers Fort isn't worth the name). Like the smaller soldiers/guards sets from Pirates I. -

Here another one. Not only bricks, do include tiles and plates and it will be a success, I think. Another thing I would like to see are more sculptures. Model Team was a huge success, as were the sculptures. And with the License themes there are a lot of possible sculptures. I would love to see sculptures of the hyena from the Lion King for example. -
You can find them here: http://www.fa-meier.de/lego/depot.html

Speaking about new train wheels, at the time the first pictures of the Emerald Night were online, I thought it was called a Factory set? The weeks after the release I checked LDD many times, to see if the new wheels were available. Of course I want to see these wheels too. A train window is also a good idea. I want them in red, please. I want the current parts in more different colours.

What do you mean with side-packs?
-
I think the Soldier's Fort doesn't even deserve that name. You can hardly call it a fort. I think the 2009 sets are way inferior to the 1989 ones. The minifigures and some of the pieces are great, though.

I think the topic description is clear. Show your designs designed with TrackDesigner, TrackDraw, BlueBrick or a similar program. I'll kick off with my design: It's more or less the maximum space I can use. I want to add poles for signals and electricity, and the wall of my room is sloped. It's designed after Ede, the city where I live. The names are in Dutch, I see now. -Riedel becomes a juice factory, with loading docks and trucks. In real this company makes Appelsientje, Taksi and Coolbest, well-known drinks in the Netherlands; -Station Ede-Wageningen: this will be the main train station, where an intercity passes by and sometimes stops; -Station Ede Centrum is smaller. Here come only regional trains; -Gemeentehuis is the city hall. The one from Ede is built over the road, so that's what I'm gonna do; -Onderstation is an electrical substation. I designed this with BlueBrick, but I used the 1997 road plates. The real one will have the 2002 road plates, but they are not in the program.

I've seen them before. It's M***B****

Sculptures please. It's something you could use for almost every licensed theme. And you don't need high play value, just characters. The Lion King for example is a movie I don't think you can make many play sets of, but I would love to see a sculpture of Shenzi, Banzai and Ed (or for everyone a single one, even better).

I hope a Greek-Spartan non-fantasy theme, but that is a small chance. Well, about the castle theme: it's true, but the current theme is about fantasy. The Pirates theme is non-fantasy however, so a Roman non-fantasy theme has a big chance I think.

I don't think it means anything. Playmobil has re-released sets for years, and from what I know, these are sets that are available only with Direct Service (or something like it, similar to Shop @ Home). The buildings have no figures. I would like to see that TLG releases a new Western theme, but I don't think they will do it because there are some old sets at the site of Playmobil again.

And fried fish?

I never designed a train (besides some creatures as a kid) and then it's difficult to start with a steam engine. But if I've built an electrical train (Protos) maybe I'm gonna build one. It's something for experienced builders (unless you build it from instructions).

Why not a central topic about layouts? At the site of LowLUG we have something like that.
-
I didn't and won't use this part for some reasons. It's not very useful for a small layout, I think. Mainly because this piece requires two tracks that are at right angles to each. And thát requires another curve, and so space. I think the RC part is more useful. It's the nicest and most compact solution to lay down two tracks next to each, where two trains can run independently and in different directions. Maybe some layouts will afford it, but not mine.

Thanks for thinking with me. I've experimented a little bit. I used the train baseplates I mentioned in my first post. The trucks stayed the same, but I used a (much weaker) solution to fit them to each other. The turntables were raised by one plate. This is what I mean. It works in normal corners, but there are two things I'm worried about. The most important thing are S-curves. Like in points. Regular S-curves don't work, but I don't have points, and maybe points do work. It has to do with the overhang, if you know what I mean. Other solutions are also welcome, but I'm not gonna use rubber belts, and I don't want the spring pieces built in the car itself. *Edit: I now shortened the coupling with two studs (the 3x2 plates with hole closer to the truck). It still can't fit in a S-curve. @Captain Green Blue Hair: I hope you now have an answer at your question. The turning points stay the same as with regular boogies.

It depends. My future lay-out will be modern. That is mainly because it's easier to build. I prefer already built steam engines, however. Beautiful with the driving rods.

I always wanted a train. In 1996, I finally got one, the 4559. I loved it because of its streamlined front. When I came out of my dark ages in 2007, I first focused at TECHNIC. However, I kept interested in trains, and a lay-out. Now I got three trains, the 4559 Cargo Railway, the 10001 Metroliner (with Club Car) and the 4565 Freight and Crane Railway. But the desire to own more realistic trains stayed. Now I want to focus at trains. I download every issue of Railbricks, and also discovered some great models. I want to build a lay-out with Dutch trains, and some buildings that are typical for Ede, the city where I live. It's hard to choose however. I'm not experienced in train building, and the most beautiful model I saw (and is usable for my lay-out) is the DD-IRM from James Mathis. I've designed two lay-outs, the second the best. The DD-IRM is too long for the second, however. I also visit some sites with pictures of real trains, railfaneurope.net and nicospilt.com. Here is my first version of my lay-out and here the second. I want to use the same road plates as The Brickster has. I hope I can build it in the near future.

Hard to decide. I don't make many MOC's, and almost never Pirates MOC's. For the rest: -a Dutchman because of the mighty VOC, we once were the most powerful country on earth, and we invaded England; -a redcoat because the Imperial Flagship is so awesome; -a pirate for the adventure, and because there is nothing more funny than to destroy other ships, after you take all their properties of course. I think, from the official factions, I go for the Pirates. I just saw Pirates of the Carribean, so maybe that helped me to decide.
