Best parts packs for history MOC's

I feel bad for not buying it when it was on sale... The price was exactly one krona per piece, which is pretty okay here in Sweden. -
LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
Sigolf Brimabane replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think the best thing is just to wait and see. Ultimately we cannot do aught but buy the sets to make it go on for a longer time. And we have to be grateful for whatever comes out at all. I remember myself like nine years ago, my deepest wish was for LEGO to release LotR sets. It never happened. I stopped hoping for it. Then all of a sudden there was LotR LEGO. From nothing and no sign of it, to release of those sets... It was more than I could ever hope for. If the LotR trilogy were to be rereleased in the cinemas in 3D then I think they could definitely keep it going for some time after 2014. I haven't yet been able to afford (oh, I do afford to buy all the sets... But well... It's a hard blow) all of it. I still don't have a single Hobbit set, because they are so much more expensive than LotR. And I'm still missing all the polybags, since they aren't available in Sweden. I still miss the Shelob set. But I (and my brother) have 2 Helm's Deep x) Well... I'm thinking of getting Attack of the Wargs, Shelob and Goblin Town (don't know the name of the set). But I also feel I want to wait and see what we'll get for the new sets of LotR and Castle before I can decide. My hopes for the future of LotR LEGO: Éowyn + Witch King (preferably with brick-built Fell Beast, but I think they'd go with something similar to the game if it were to happen) Edoras/Golden Hall of Meduseld The White Tree maybe, since there probably won't be a whole Minas Tirith, and the tree, I think, though it is not my favourite, is so iconic that if there were a Minas Tirith set, the tree would have to be in it. Could come with the throne room or something. Or the beacon. The Last Alliance... But for what the build to it would be, I do not have any ideas... I'm not a fan of ents nor hobbits nor southrons and easterlings... But wouldn't some mûmakil (or one mûmak) be something? Preferably brick built. Such a large scale moulded animal would be impossible, I think. Those large moulds, for me, don't feel so LEGO-ish... Shelob looks great, and she is brick built. I think a fell beast and mûmak could be just as good.- 7,499 replies

I like this a lot. It looks a bit simpler than many other builds around, but it has a genuine LEGO-ish feel to it. It's just the good ol' bricks! :D Keep up the good work, it's cosy to look at :)

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

I hope they make a film about Túrin Turambar, who wouldn't wanna see The Children of Húrin become a movie? :D Though it is very obscure, so probably they wouldn't be able to pull it off. Everyone knows of the Hobbit and the LotR, but the rest of Tolkien's works are pretty unknown. Many people have heard of Silmarillion but never read it for example. There have been quite a lot of rereleases of films in the cinema, I saw that they were showing Finding Nemo in 3D when I went to see the Hobbit. I have no idea how they make old films 3D, but if they do that of the LotR trilogy I am sure people would go see them. It would be worth seeing them again in the cinema, despite the fact that I've seen them so many times over and over again since the release way back in time.- 7,499 replies

Haha x) It is great either way, the scribe's little room is nice. Is he also the one who rings the bell? :) I wish I had read the whole of Kalevala that time when I borrowed it from a friend x) And bought it that time when it was available at the old book store... I only read half :/ Translated into Swedish though, of course. We learn no Finnish in your western sister country x) Finn <3 Svea (xD) What really was Sampo? I never got that... Was it a weapon or...? Väinämöinen is so cool (especially on Ensiferum's album covers).

Nice ;) I love western, though I only have the old Fort Legoredo which misses some pieces, the Prairie Wagon and some Injuns meself x) And the awesome CMF bandit.

Edit: I accidentally sent the same post twice and don't know how to delete it on the phone xD Anyhow... Does anyone know if there is a place with more AoE builds? (preferably with a link to it) :) or I could just google...
-
Wow, great work :D Since it is a smaller scale I didn't recognize it at once, but it is nicely done (although the teams having that type of town center are always my enemies x)). Personally I prefer AoE: RoR before even the Conquerors expansion of AoE2 x) And I only played AoE3 for a very short period... It was too modern :) Maybe I could try some time far in the future to build something from RoR x)

I've been thinking of getting attack of the wargs and goblin town for a while.. But they are much more expensive than lotr sets... :/ Any advice? I really want the wargs, and the goblins, and the rest looks like good landscaping bricks.

Really nice one, hyvää! x) I love the building techniques. The interior and glass window are great :) Maybe you could set the build on fire? :D Is that Kalevala in the shelf? Thought I saw Lönnrot to the right.

I still like brick constructions better x) Lego is not about buying a toy like action figures, it is made so you can build whatever you can imagine. :( If we get Mûmakil I hope they are brick built, it would definitely look much better. So the Orthanc tower is pretty much confirmed?- 7,499 replies

My problem with moulded beasts is that they are so bloody stiff. The "bionicle-ish" dragon of the Viking era at least had some joints and was moveable. Highly poseable too. A moulded fell beast would just be able to stand there, maybe turn its head and open its fangs... But naught else. But I do believe that if there will be one, it will be similar to that of the game...- 7,499 replies

Are there more people than me who would rather have a brick built fell beast? I don't really like the big moulds, although the Cave Troll was nice, and Olog-Hai are the perfect size for moulds, but I imagine a big fell beast to be like the big moulded dinosaurs of yore. :S If anyone remembers the dragon from the Viking theme, that's more like it in my opinion. :) The fantasy era dragon was not very nice, looked too childish (it was aimed for kids, I know).- 7,499 replies

I and mine elder brother bought Medieval Market Village yesterday. As ye, or at least many of you, already have said, it was a fun build, although the unnumbered bags were quite a pain in the neck, however nostalgic. If LEGO doth bring out the now rumoured Orthanc set, it will be an expensive year :/
-
Bought this set yesterday :) It is great. But I almost start to regret Kingdom's Joust IF the now rumoured Orthanc set will come true. But so far they are both great to have :)
-
They should have had a blue background with three yellow/golden crowns instead :) Is there anyone who knows when to expect better/more pictures? I'm new to more serious Lego stuff so I don't know what's the general procedure for Lego when revealing new stuff.
-
Hmm thanks for the ideas. :) They should really have picked a better weapon for them. Spears and axes might work too... I think. And short bow.
-
Latest was Kingdom's Joust. I and my brother split the price. Next week it will be a Medieval Market Village. Earlier this month after having bought only a little Lego for a long time we also got: Uruk-Hai Army 1x Gandalf Arrives 1x Mines of Moria 1x Attack on Weathertop 1x The Orc Forge 1x Helm's Deep 2x Escape from the Spiders of Mirkwood 1x

I'd love to have ðe barrel escape set for ðe elves and ðeir naginata-looking-þingies... but ðe þing is ðat it is probably ðe most expensive set if you look at price per piece, and I'm not ðat interested in ðose particular parts :/ Is ðere anyone who has a good idea for a weapon replacement for ðe Mordor orcs? I really dislike ðe strange swords ðey were given... In ðe books ðey have crooked swords :/

I really like this, it captures the spirit of the wild west! I just watched a western movie too so I'm in the right mood for this kind of MOC xD

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
Sigolf Brimabane replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
He names Sting when he encounters the Spiders in Mirkwood forest, which is the first time he uses it. It definitely deserves a new mold. And so should Orcrist. Glamdring fits well with the regular long sword, but as for Andúril it 'should' get an own mold because of its importance, but it won't. The Sting swords could be used in an ancient theme setting due to its resemblance to a Spatha sword used by Greeks. Or maybe rather a Roman Pugio knife...- 7,499 replies
