  1. Lego will spare no expense for new molds in ep7. It will be a huge event, Lego movie style.
  2. Ditto. I don't foresee any polys. If so it would be easy repacks like Orc or Bard. Highly doubt Lego would give us the two most important exclusives of the limited new prints in BoFA. So no Dain, no Thorin.
  3. Oh an adventure of lovecraftian proportions? I am really excited to see it unfold in true Lego form. Certainly, the rest of your creations will be as great as this first one. I love the setting, all of the details which you would expect in an early 20th century occult room. I would have liked to have seen a hint of the madness to come, like a cultist in the corner or a strange creature lurking in the shadows!
  4. It may sound overly simplistic but I just say have fun. If you just play and feel for the design, you will be more openly creative allowing for the ideas to flow into brick form. Often, if you plan too much it can actually be a hindrance to the creative process. When I made my largest displays and some SW starfighters I wasn't even planning on this being the time or pieces to use. By just playing with the bricks it eventually became a full project. At least this how it has worked for me. Not sure how much planning goes on for others here. Hopefully they too will share with you soon.
  5. If that's true I want the Throne room for $40 ;)
  6. So true! The cantina has only 1 rehash, Han Solo with all new prints. Poor neglected Hobbit theme gets only 3 new prints out of 7. Seems like Erebor set got all the new prints.
  7. That's what irks me as well! I don't mind the inclusion of Legolas or Tauriel and I actually supported it. However, when these characters detract from the importance and screen time of established characters like Thranduil, that is upsetting. I know it's not lego's fault for Legolas prominence in marketing and merchandise but WB in this regard.
  8. You make some valid points but as a kid would you honestly want 2 identical Bards or a third Legolas? Also why would kids like many of the sets Lego has made for the Hobbit? Many are dull and uninspiring. They can't please kids and afols, but at least at it's core make it exciting and have elements like Guardians of the Galaxy or Star Wars that entice kids to play with them. It's not about the minfig selection entirely, it's more than that, it's chiefly about set design. I agree many of the sets look ok or good, but do Lego designers want a base passing grade or a spectacular one? Out of the last hobbit waves, I only purchased a handful of sets and spent my money on Star Wars because it's just more well designed and the effort put into it can be seen. Out of the last wave I will probably get Erebor because it does have the wow factor that kids would love and Witch King Battle but for Lake Town Attack and BoFA I may not get them, still waiting to see full Dales ruins designs. Also as a designer, of course you don't want to be criticized but seriously if you don't want to be judged or have your creations assessed then you shouldn't be one professionally.
  9. Holy moley! Your scenes get better and better. I love your mining ship and the E-Wing Starfighter. Please, please post LDD or piece list or instructions. I really want to recreate these with your permission. The mining vessels are poorly represented in official SW media, it is nice to see them. This must be your best story MOC yet, 4 amazing scenes within a grander story. Great job! Also creative use of Grevious windshield, that deserves proper recognition.
  10. Bravo sir! No need to be sniveling beggars when we have the purchasing power. We have every right to voice our concerns and criticisms. And I am sorry if people see these sets on par to the quality of other Lego themes. It just simply isn't the case. Case in point, legolas was included simply because of a cool factor or instant lure to kids who see the movie. Legolas was included for more self limiting reasons by Lego such as cost and production resources. TLG made their choices for good or Ill, let's not praise them but let their sales speak for itself.
  11. ^^^^ I have hope that BoFA set will have a decent Dale ruins build and it has good elements like Thorin, Dain and Bard. But it has supremely negative elements as well like a 200 piece ballista or catapult and a ton of rehashes and of course Legolas. His inclusion with an old print from 2 years ago is atrocious and indicative of lego's laziness. I take off 2 points out of 10 just based on this decision alone. So yes there's hope the set could be maybe a 6/7 rather than a likely 4.
  12. That would be a lot better and sell a ton in comparison to the inevitable poor sales we will see this year. Shame that Lego is killing the license and that they would rather not have extra money for some odd reason. We know MEA and UHA sold out almost everywhere! So what's the deal with Lego. Only reason that makes sense is that Lego wants this license to end hard and justify not seeking to renew it.
  13. Final word or final nail in the coffin. It is over and at least LOTR ended big with Orthanc, Hobbit will end in a whimper.
  14. 1000x better than the official Lake Town Attack set coming in October. The tower and windlance look very good. We all need to make our own sets.
  15. If Far East cloners make an armored Thranduil or proper Elf Soldier then I will give them all the money instead of TLG and maybe even the pics. Yes, we should be happy for Middle Earth sets but that's like saying we should be happy to have had love in a bad relationship. It simply doesn't justify anything thrown at us. Already many sites are saying that BoFA set could be the worst set in the entire LOTR/Hobbit themes. Clearly, Lego has done some very wrong things with the license as many have speculated and/or demonstrated.
  16. A new Lego fantasy theme would be great to replace LOTR/Hobbit License. If Lego doesn't create one based on your quality, I will recreate your sets because bricklinking the pieces is better than giving Lego money for half hearted set designs.
  17. Wow if there ever was more proof to the end of this theme, it would be these paltry designed sets. Honestly of these three, they look like fan MOCs made by children rather than paid Lego designers. Witchking Battle- Galadriel hair aside, everyone looks great but the set is lame and the tree is an eyesore. Laketown Attack- New Tauriel, new Orc hair, Bain I guess. This set looks downright uneven and unfinished compared to LTC from last wave. BoFA- Only Thorin, Dain (who looks generic), and new Bard are worth anything of substance. This set should be called the Battle of Five Rehashes, same Orcs, eagle, and Azog and even the new Gandalf himself Legolas, the Thranduil scene stealer. This set is terrible, a catapult and a bridge, no Dale building or walls. Sorry everyone but Lego made progressively worse Hobbit AND LOTR sets with each new wave. I am so embarrassed and saddened that I say let this theme just die.
  18. Considering the price point, I'm afraid Lego will not be able to do the BoFA justice with this set they plan to release. It deserves a huge set with various factions, multiple molded beasts and tons of action.
  19. Sauron was not as powerful without the One Ring but he could still take form after the Last Alliance. His only limitation was that he could never take a fair guise after the downfall of Numenor when the Valar destroyed the Numenorean invasion fleet and Sauron's physical vessel was destroyed. In Fellowship of the Ring, Gollum made mention of the Black Man with Nine Fingers alluding to the one he lost after the Last Alliance. Contrary to the films, Sauron could take physical form.
  20. All of the Rebel sets were ones I expected for Lego to make, so that's exciting. The Tie Prototype is essentially a mix of Tie Interceptor and Vaders Tie Advanced. The Troop transport will have lots of troops along with Agent Kallus unless he comes in the Ezra's speeder set. Maybe Sabine will be with the Inquisitors Tie Prototype or included with the Troop Transport. The Battlepacks are always welcome as long as Geonosis Troopers aren't Battledroids. The Microfighters seem like interesting choices, what will the Vulture Droid, Republic Gunship, and Spider Droid have for minifigures? Certainly not Battledroids we would hope. And the Snowspeeder would have yet another Rebel Pilot just with white gloves? What about the ATAT, a Pilot like in the system scale set?
  21. But what about micro buildings? That would qualify as construction sets and still sell a Minifigure like we all want. It's not a Battlepack because it has only one, it would be like larger polybags. Like the SW microfighters it would have around 200 pieces each set.
  22. As cool as this would be (I own two LOTR chess sets) I think the best thing Lego could have done was create a micro scale line that included one new minifigure. So like a micro scale Barad-dur with Sauron, a micro scale Minas Tirith with Gondor Soldier, a micro scale Rivendell with Elf Knight, etc. That way the sets are cheap like Star Wars microfighters which sell well and as you say it's about the minfigures. Also Lego can be creative and capture iconic locations properly because of the smaller scale.
  23. The Alchemist set is amazing, I love the tower and bridge element in Lego sets. They are my favorite type of Lego design. This reminds me of Fangar's Ice Fortress from Chima in a very good way. So many cool things to like from this set from the snow covered ground connecting pieces to the well furnished alchemy tower. Can't wait to see more. What's the biggest set or flagship of this theme? :)
  24. I wish wave 3 was larger, so many designs we could see. Now I'm sounding like the LOTR thread lol. But honestly the first offense is no Sauron!
  25. Sorry but that's not possible, 8 dwarves when there are only 3 more sets in the final hobbit wave? We already know that one set will not have any dwarves so it's the remaining two sets. Unless Bard, Galadriel, Elrond and the Witchking suddenly become dwarves we won't see the full company redesigned for the third movie Lego sets. We are also at least getting Dain so that's another dwarf taking up the increasingly shrinking character slots. I don't think BoFA is called Battle of the Dwarves and the other people.
