Just saw that today! Considering that Star Wars SDCC is focused heavily on Rebels show, the set for 2015 would likely be one that showcases Sabine and/or the Inquisitor.

[Review] Rebels Ghost (75053) and Phantom (75048)
Mahtion replied to Scott-S6's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I am planning on making several mods to the Ghost, one of them being the top side compartments into some kind of interior. Ideally I would like to make a couple rooms from the actual Ghost design, maybe the living quarters. At the least I will make more sitting areas and/or passenger seats. -
I personally have no qualms with the Rebels stormtroopers. The OT ones by contrast look like they are wearing 70s boots and clunky armor. I know, I know sacrilege.
-
Valid concerns but did the prequel trilogy have any big names vouching for their greatness other than Lucas? Also people saw the designs, they knew the ships and locations were more pristine and yet years after the fact complained about the aesthetic differences. Were there any warnings that people simply ignored because of the hype?

Great find Faefrost! I don't see an Astromech droid cabin on that ship. Is it an X-wing or Z-95 headhunter or maybe something entirely different for the sequel trilogy?

Great techniques used, looks very dynamic. In terms of accuracy, the wall looks more Medieval era than Iron Age style fortifications. I always love seeing mythology come to life so its still a good representation.

Could get some with a Troop transport from the Rebels show, but they would be the stylized Rebels version.
-
If we do get that set and I believe we will along with the At-Dp we should be getting multiple stormtroopers. Of course they would be in the Rebels style which some do not like. I feel that the new walker At-Dp will be released because we haven't had an At-st in Lego form for some time and the pilot uses the same helmet mold that Ezra comes with in the Phantom set.

I think the Sandtroopers from Droid Escape are still inexpensive and easy to purchase on bricklink. Also I picked up some Clone Tank microfighters and the Clone Trooper looks pretty close to a standard Stormtrooper. Maybe replace the helmet but those are easy to come by in store and on bricklink.

Exactly. If the design is found in a Disney show and visual guide then they have the right to produce it. Either they purchased it from Kenner or more than likely acquired it from purchasing Lucasfilm. Kenner was probably under contract that anything they made under a Star Wars label was owned and copyrighted by Lucasfilm. In ways that fan fiction submissions or creations are property of the IP that they based it on. Or that EU material is freely available to Disney because Lucasfilm ultimately owns all Star Wars property. Sure more lego retail exclusives the better. It's nice to be pleasantly surprised.

I agree completely! Sith fury is one of my favorite Lego ships made so far. I love starfighters as well but the medium sized frigate types are the most satisfying in Lego form and make great display pieces. -
I would imagine that only if the name is copyright protected it would pose a problem for Lego. Inspiration or paying homage wouldn't violate intelligent property rights. Perhaps the rights belong to lucasfilm and now Disney anyway?

I think all that's new on Qui-Gon is the leg printing.

Wow good job lego if true! Let's make one of the biggest heroes of the third Hobbit movie inaccurate for the sake of sdcc exclusive. Let's just rehash his DoS outfit for his defining moment in one of the 4 last Middle Earth Lego sets ever. Why didn't Lego choose a random character rather than one of the most important leads? Totally disappointing.

Thanks for the link! I really want the minifigs especially Qui-gon because I don't have any of his minifigs. Now I won't buy the Qui-gon and Obi-wan from the Gungan sub and wait for the figs to show up from the MTT. Now it is disappointing that the MTT has exposed technic parts and it looks unfinished. :/

That is a great looking Bard! What a way to start off the new wave reveals. Finally some decent news. Also it could be that the set he comes with is exclusive just like how the Star Wars exclusive comes with the same Chopper minifg. If this Bard is exclusive it would be a waste of a great new print!

Wow seeing the comparison snowspeeders makes the new Snowspeeder a day 1 purchase! Never owned one and Hoth is one of my favorite battle sites from OT. -
Nothing exclusive looking about it. Anyone see any rare Lego pieces? I mean it's the same chopper.

In my experience, target gets the sets first and then toysrus gets them about a week or so later. Also could explain why target had some sets from 2013 on clearance.
-
Odd. Why aren't the new sets on the US Lego store or on toysrus website?

Please list the pros/cons and which is best once you build the new one. Thanks! -

I would like to know the opinion on the definitive Darth Maul. I want to have one for my collection but I'm not sure which is the better one. I'm leaning towards the one from newest Sith Infiltrator or the shirtless polybag. I think the CW version in Mandalorian speeder has too many flaws. -
What was the sale at Toysrus?

9492 Tie Fighter, 9490 Droid Escape, 75025 Jedi Defender Class cruiser and 9500 Sith Fury class Interceptor All of these to tie me over until Summer wave hits US stores. :) Sith Fury was a great and fun build while Defender class was complicated but not as enjoyable. Oh almost forgot 8017 Vaders Tie fighter and also 7657 AT-ST. Now I need to MOD Vaders Tie in style of 9492!
