Custom brick color in LDD
nxtstep101 replied to nxtstep101's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I have another quick question about LDD: is there any way for me to "center" a lego model perfectly? For instance if I am taking an angled shot and have to move the model around quite a bit. Thanks. -

Not bad for your first MOC. The chassis reminded me of a dune buggy. -
I've never really been fond of apple products, so I'll avoid making a biased presumption until after it is made.

That perfectly answered both of my questions. Thank you! -
Custom brick color in LDD
nxtstep101 replied to nxtstep101's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yes, I know how to change the color of the brick, but what I mean't to say was that on certain bricks there is less color options than on others. For instance there is a shade of green that is available for 2x2 bricks but not for 2x3 bricks. It would be really helpful if I could change it to that same shade of green as the 2x2. Sorry if the question wasn't very clear. -

Custom brick color in LDD
nxtstep101 posted a topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hello everyone, it is me again. I was wondering if it is possible to make different bricks colors other than the ones that LDD has available? Or is there a third-party program that would allow me to do this? Also, is it at all possible to change the color of a bunch of LEGO bricks at once? I find it very time consuming to go to every single brick and manually change the color. -
POV-Ray Question
nxtstep101 replied to nxtstep101's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I have another question regarding POV-Ray, and instead of making a new topic I'll just post it here. Where in the settings can I zoom in on the model? And is there anyway to preview how it will look be positioned before I start rendering? Thanks. -
[MOC] Mini trial truck chassis

Nice compact design! I love the use of the flexible axles as springs. I agree with everyone else, though -- you should give this thing a body. :)- 6 replies

Looks great! Love the planetary gear hubs. -
I recently found out about POV-Ray and am going to use it to start making HQ renders of my LDD models. I only have one problem: whenever I try rendering it ends up taking a super long time, so long in fact that I end up having to cancel the cycle. The longest I've tried letting it run was for ~36 hours, and it only rendered 60% in that time. Is it normal for it to take this long? And just in case it is needed I have included the LDD of the model I am attempting to render. gbc_dual_arms.lxf

I recently re-created one of my LEGO GBC modules in LDD, everything went smoothly until I ran into what seems to be an unfixable problem. Two of the liftarms that hold the hoppers at a sleight slant don't seem to want to fit correctly in place. I tried just about everything (that I could think of) and none of it worked. I've included a image of the part that is giving me trouble, as well as the compete LDD file. The liftarms need to be placed 4 studs from the beginning of the hopper. If you are having trouble finding out where the liftarms need to be in place, of the video should clearly show it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. gbc_dual_arms.lxf

[GBC] Dual Lifting Arms

I actually haven't thought of doing that yet, but it is a good idea, so I probably will start putting my instructions on there (even though I don't plan to sell them). Thanks for the suggestion. -

Thanks! Phillip has a nice index of GBC modules created by a variety of builders; he also has another index of modules that include building instructions. Hope that helps. -

@Paul P: Your welcome. I hope your grandson enjoys it. @Captainowie: Thanks for the suggestion. I originally did have a mechanism that split the balls into both the hoppers, but I removed it because it didn't really fit in well with the rest of the module. Also, I was thinking about my loop having two different runs, and this module would be were both of them met. @darksheep: Nice idea. Sadly, I don't really have enough of the right color parts, and the parts I do have I am conserving for future modules.
