  1. I might have bought three of that set, but only one of those full price. Since you have one already, you know all the pieces. Are you looking to army build? Two wargs in one set is great and I did not mind having multiple white wargs. I also could use all the brown and dark gray bits. I think it depends on the color you need for MOCs and if another white warg is a problem. After all Mirkwood Army has a much more attractive (to me) Warg and tan bricks.
  2. I just bought the Pet Shop and it is unique (so far) in being two 16 x 32 buildings which give you a lot of flexibility in your town layout. I know that some are down on the style of the Palace Cinema since it is not the type of building that is found in every downtown like area. But since I have been to the Mann's Chinese Theater in Hollywood, I don't mind. I will likely buy it next year.
  3. Would it be this one? http://brickset.com/sets/120-1/Freight-train-set Brickset lets you browse sets by year. It actually came out in 1969 but would have still been available in 1970.
  4. LEGO has a loyalty program called VIP for both Shop@Home and the brand stores. There are rare times a year, such as October, where they double VIP points. Normally, you earn $5 for each $100 you spend. Right now you earn $10. That makes it worth the drive for me on big ticket purchases. Smaller sets I just buy locally. I am considering getting Smaug from Amazon in a few months where I can likely save $20+ on it.
  5. The October calendar says it is supposed to be out today.
  6. I could see Coulson, Hill, and MCU Fury in a hellicarrier set. Coulson was in the movies but the strictly TV characters would not likely be in this set. However, until I see confirmation from another source, I suspect this set is not even real.
  7. Copying from the first post: This is not the entry thread. The link to the entry thread is in the above post though. Good luck.
  8. They could just use the existing shoulder pads and a regular head to make this. If so, it is just new prints for the head, torso, and legs.
  9. They need to make room for new modulars. That said, I find the 16x32 style build very special. I hope we get some more of that style soon.
  10. Even identical minifigs from the polybags were shown again in the checklist. Look for the set number under each minifig.
  11. The FB was my first modular. I only bought it to keep me from regretting missing it. But it seems that every one of these modulars I buy, I really come to love them once I build them. If you think you might like the FB, get it. You will come to relish it.
  12. The minifigure checklists generally tell us who is in the polybags. But this years check list does not show any polybags. Unfortunately it appears we won't have any this time. I hope there is an exclusive minifigure for the Battle of the Five Armies Bluray. Old Bilbo is a possibility. Unless they can make Bolg without any new molds, they could not give us that.
  13. I am interested in joining.
  14. Oklahoma City, OK, USA
  15. I don't think that Bionicle is a better deal for LEGO. The two are not mutually exclusive... heck, LEGO even had Castle running along side Lord of the Rings, so those two product lines were not mutually exclusive. I agree that LEGO keeps more of every dollar / Euro spent on Bionicle than any licensed line. Profits don't have to be shared and there is less overhead as there is no coordination with other companies. The LEGO Movie still has to be coordinated with Warner Bros, but I have no clue whether any profit is shared with the WB. We don't know what their contracts are. We do know that WB controlled the movie and LEGO only helped where possible. While an internal line means that LEGO gets to keep all the profits, the goal of a licensed line is to piggy back on an existing brand. From the Shareholder Reports, we know that LEGO was unable to extend a line that exceeded expectations when there was no more media supports for it (PotC). LEGO is constantly changing up their offerings to bring in new consumers and lure previous consumers back. However, only Star Wars and now Superhereos are evergreen licensed themes. Lord of the Rings / Hobbit like the other licensed lines were expected to be short term lines. I think everyone in this thread is sad to see line ending and we all wish there were more sets to look forward to.
  16. I bought my Pet Shop this month. I will have to check the fence when I get home. That said, I like the look with the four studs better as it looks more like a wrought iron fence. If I have the parts that you do, I would be happier. Since I had not built bags 3 and 4 yet, I have no clue with green torso I have. Another Hydra torso might be nice. The minifigs in these sets do not appeal to me at all. I quickly populate my City with CMFs. There is only one time for sure that LEGO missed a part for me. That is a green brick with ball and socket joint in the Lex Power Suit set. I guarantee that the part was missing. Since I bought it on clearance and was willing to scrap it for parts in a couple of days, I did not complain. Compare that with when my Fire Brigade came with a large number of extra windows and other parts, I think we got a good deal. I remember Bricklinking about 16 clear windows to fit the extra window frames.
  17. My first LEGO set ever was 6803 Space Patrol from 1983 but the set that launched my love of LEGO was 1877 Crusader's Cart.
  18. That sounds like a wonderful idea. I bet your kids will love it.
  19. The ears are a dead giveaway on the pig. I bought one and left several behind at various stores. I either missed the life guard or there was not one to be found. I am not fussed about it as I don't forsee a purpose for him in a MOC.
  20. I went for the Grand Emporium first before the Pet Shop. I decided to stick with the release order anticipating that they will retire in that order. Faefrost makes a good point that they don't retire as much as they sell out and decide to not produce more. Still, I think that it is best to make a decision and not wait.
  21. My MOC wasn't meant to mock. I started out just wanting to do a Two Towers Warg Attack. However I need more than just a cart to justify a Warg and a Horse. I just couldn't get into a rocky ledge. The barn design is strongly influenced by one in the movie. As much as a like the Viking like wood building, they would be a pale tan monochrome builds. I had considered making a hillman as well. In the end, I decided to finish this entry so I can start an Age of Man build.
  22. MEC Category A: Westfold Escape MEC Category B: Pippin and the Barrow Downs MEC Category B: Arwen's Fate
  23. Help Theoden, Eowyn, and Háma gather supplies from a barn and flee to Helm's Deep. The warg rider is waiting to ambush them. Gather suplies from a barn in the Westfold. Gather a barrel of apples, carrots, and some blankets for the refuges. Fight from horse back or use the horse to haul supplies. Theoden, Eowyn, and Háma can even fight in the barn. Time to head to Helm's Deep*. * Helm's Deep sold separately.
  24. My strategy has been to only buy the modulars during Double VIP events. I bought my first one during Bricktober last year, Grand Emporium during the April event, and Pet Shop this month. If Town Hall is still around by April next year, I might get it. Otherwise, I will get the Palace Cinema. I just wish I had got The LEGO Movie sticker for that set. My own MOC is coming a long slowly. The LEGO Neighborhood book is an inspiration for the bathroom which I have been stuck and disinterested in for some time now.
  25. The final wave of Hobbit is coming out in 2014 but there is no Lord of the Rings in 2015. So it will not be a one year wait.
