  1. A comment from the designer they left on Bricklink: "Hello everyone, Here are some answers to your questions and further information: The color hasn't changed (it's the same yellow and dark blue as before). / The locomotive can, of course, run on all current Lego tracks, but it's too long to fit in the engine shed (910033). / You can light up the headlight and the cab, which looks really great (pictures coming soon on Instagram). /. The front of the locomotive can be customized. That means the blue parts included are also available in yellow. / Different number stickers are included. So, for those who want to build a B-unit from the set, there are also stickers available. / I'm not currently on Rebrickable. That will change soon, though—I promised something here (keyword: B-unit), and I'll definitely keep my word. More on that in two to three weeks. Thomas" --- Looks like b-unit instructions are coming soon, and the set includes extra stickers for extra units. A nice touch.
  2. LEGO continues to be good to Trains fans with another fantastic release through the BDP. Description: "The Brick Railroad Locomotive is a tribute to its iconic American prototype, a machine that holds a firm place in railroad history. One of its most defining features is the rounded front with its prominent headlight, giving the model an immediate and unmistakable silhouette. One of the biggest challenges during development was the side color pattern, built entirely from arches, round tiles, and other brick elements. The combination of vibrant yellow and deep dark blue creates a powerful and cohesive appearance. For added individuality, the front section can be customized using the included alternative bricks. To ensure the locomotive can be brought to life later on, the interior is designed to support motorization as well as lighting for the headlight and the driver’s cab. Alternatively, the model can also be equipped with two motors. In any configuration, the locomotive handles all current tracks with ease and is guaranteed to stand out on any layout." Goes up for pre-order on June 9th at $119.99. https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-8/2739/Brick-Railroad-Locomotive
  3. A lovely set. The container cars look easy to replicate, so it will be fun seeing the different cargos MOD'ers come up with.
  4. A versatile set. A nice number of minifigs and the station platform could easily slot into most layouts. The saddle tank locomotive design works stand-alone or with the tender. This set is the closest thing to the MOT line we've had in decades. Nice shout-out to the previous line with the 317 numbering.
  5. When do the early summer sets typically leak?
  6. Another Trains set joining the Vintage Steam Train on the leaks list. 60509 Port Freight Train with Crane and Truck. 803 pieces. $99.99.
  7. I do wonder what 'retro' refers to. Retro in reference to real-world vintage, or possibly in reference to old 12V and 9V LEGO styles? Looking forward to this one!
  8. Yes, the color scheme is very close to an Operation Lifesaver CSX locomotive livery and the locomotive itself matches a modern American diesel/electric locomotive very closely.
  9. I'd love to see some 3d print designers come up with a wheel to fill this gap. Would a fun 'what-if'.
  10. Pleased with the apparent demand for this set. Hopefully we get more Trek sets for a long time to come!
  11. 2027... a bit of a wait! Kudos to LEGO for using the BDP to give Trains fans the trackside sets that would never sell enough to make a full run. This is another instant pickup for me!

  13. The end of an era.
  14. The reaction to this on the other social platforms has been interesting. If you don't love it, you get hit with lecturing comments about supporting the brand/products. Personally, I just don't see the appeal of this set and don't mind people passing on it in favor of the many other Trains releases that are on the market. Money isn't an unlimited commodity.
  15. After so many years of steam locomotives featuring large driving wheels, it's sort of strange to see a set regressing to the MOT 9V era with diesel-style bogies. LEGO has been on a roll with their recent train-related releases. I think this is their first miss in a while.
  16. The Enterprise D saucer section is 100% an oval. The set captures the shape of the Galaxy-class nearly perfectly. --- I think the design of the set looks fantastic. I wouldn't have minded some more window decal sheets, but I can already hear the potential moaning if LEGO had decided to add some large sticker sheets. This looks to be a great, large-scale model without being un-displayable. An aftermarket lighting kit will be a must-have for sure. Ever since I was a kid, I've wanted a Star Trek LEGO set. (I spent way too much time building digital MOCs in LDD for uploading to the LEGO Universe Creation Lab...) No way I'm missing this release - a day one purchase.
  17. ATSF diesel locomotive coming in Series 8! https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-8/2739/Brick-Railroad-Locomotive
  18. A good number of Trains submissions in this next round - up for voting now: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-7/main.page
  19. A little more than halfway to a sell-out. Steady sales. Not as strong as the Castle-related stuff, but shows that there is still a passionate Trains related fan-base - albeit, a smaller one. https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-4/1184/Wild-West-Train
  20. Less than a week to go until crowdfunding opens for the Wild West Train! Pre-ordering starts on February 4th, 2025 at 8 AM Pacific time
  21. Updated with the official render of the Old West Train. Another good year shaping up for Trains fans!
  22. It's possible. I think the main hiccup would be that LEGO has pushed 'modern/green' tech for their City line and would bristle at inserting a steam locomotive and historic cars into the theme. (One can hope though!)
  23. The piece count is lining up with the Arctic Express being an actual train. Themed train sets (Police, Fire, Military, etc.) have been a thing for a long time in model railroading and its kind of surprisingly that LEGO has taken so long to jump on the band wagon.
  24. I am confident that LEGO's bottom line is not greatly affected by the sales of the Trains theme.
