    Your comment truly does read as though you are linking the Emerald Night with having more than a single-passenger coach. You also could be a bit more polite in your reply, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt that a potential language barrier is forcing you to be a bit less congenial. Also, LEGO hasn't produced a Trains set of this style with that many coaches - ever. The piece count and price would simply be too high to move units. You are asking for something that just doesn't fit within LEGO's system. I fail to see how LEGO producing the Hogwarts Express in a larger scale indicates they have lost the plot in its entirety. Was it a misstep in our eyes? Yes, I agree with you. But that doesn't necessarily mean that they would view this new set as being in the same lane. (It doesn't have a license to rely on, a more niche subject matter, etc.) They proved me and many others wrong that were surethat we wouldn't be seeing another steam locomotive set for a long time after the Hogwarts Express release. I am convinced that they will need the Trains fans in order to make this a success.

    I think you may be misremembering a bit. The Emerald Night came with only one passenger coach.

    The designer of this is in some of the LEGO Train Facebook groups. I asked if he designed this with track compatibility in mind and he said, "Yes, but LEGO will decide for the final product." Fingers crossed that LEGO follows his cue.

    Ditto on the good prices. Walmart in particular seems to discount the Speed Champions sets often.

    Is there any chance that the 'Power Feeders' and other wire accessories may hit the market sooner than later? Weighing whether I want to take the time to re-wire my current sets or wait for the FX ones to hit stores.

    Has there been any consensus on if the Crocodile Locomotive was indeed meant to kickstart a new round of LEGO AFOL Trains, and if so, if it was a failure or a success? I was really hoping that we'd see some type of continuation of this micro-theme and with the disappointing release of the static HE, it feels like an empty future for AFOL Trains.

    I get that. I know Train fans represent a fraction of the buying power of the market. A big, licensed train set that couldn't be bothered to be designed as an actual train. Conclusive proof of the Trains market share. You're right! Modders will surely find a way to salvage something out of this. I know I need to look on the bright side of this. lol ... I am interested to see if LEGO will ever clarify in their sales description that the set is NOT meant to be compatible with the existing track. They have 'batteries included on the box, and talk about the 'realistic movement'. Seems like a recipe for confusion and some angry purchasers.

    It's interesting seeing how the various fan segments are evaluating the set. A lot of the general HP fans are impressed with how big this is and are really focusing on the minifig selection. Most of the Train fans are confused. Many still don't realize that it isn't compatible with tracks. LEGO really doesn't make that clear anywhere on the website. --- I do wonder when the 'bigger is best' mentality will end - if it ever will. The sizing of this just feels so excessive with no real point. Yet, many seem to love the 'it's the longest ever' status.

    I think this is the most disappointed I've ever been regarding a new LEGO release. So much potential wasted. Knowing that this will take the slot of any potential new steam locomotive sets in the next few years is also a bit of a kick in the pants. The Emerald Night was released in 2009. We still haven't gotten its successor and probably never will.

    I find it interesting that they mention 'Realistic movement' but there is nothing in the description to warn buyers that this set is not compatible with LEGO's train track system.

    They could have gone 8-wide with this, fit virtually all of the same details into the set, and then it would have been usable for those with LEGO Train layouts. The Emerald Night was released over a decade ago and this was their chance to finally offer Train fans a new set in the same vein. I was really hoping they would take that opportunity.

    Pretty disappointed. I was hoping that this would be the new Emerald Night. Instead, we get a nice-looking, but completely stationary model that is unusable on existing LEGO System layouts.

    New information from Promobricks regarding the Hogwarts Express set. The large display base and the huge amount of minifigs seem to inflate the price quite a bit. "The Hogwarts Express itself is only a few centimeters shorter than the track on which it stands (90 to 100 cm). A small data plate with the most important information about the train can be attached to the base of the platform. The train consists of the well-known red steam engine with a tender and unfortunately only one passenger car. This has a total of four red train doors and three compartments in which scenes from various films are shown."     I've been wondering the same. It if ends up being as detailed as the recent Creator Expert Trains, I will snap it up immediately!

    Thinking through this a bit more, a Creator Expert Hogwarts Express set fits well with the rest of LEGO's offerings and past schedule. The Crocodile Locomotive has been discontinued for a while, so there are no Creator Expert Train sets offered for sale right now. The last steam locomotive offered at a Creator Expert level was the Emerald Night back in the day. That, plus the discontinuation of the smaller Hogwarts Express set creates a good opening.

    If the set is designed with a MOC level locomotive, tender, a few passengers cars, and a modular style station, the pricing would line up quite well. Is it likely to reach our expectations? Who knows, but I could see the price being considered 'reasonable' by AFOL/LEGO Train standards. Any additional word on a rumored release date?

    I'd be pretty stoked by this. Removing the Hogwarts labeling and applying Olton Hall decals would make for a perfectly accurate real-world replica. I'd buy it immediately!

    We have to remember that the City theme is for kids. The TFOL and AFOL-related town line seem to have moved to the Creator and Creator Expert themes. Sadly, it doesn't seem as though the Trains sub-theme has made the full transition.

    Excellent! I am much more interested in a Speed Champions scale DB5 in comparison to the larger Creator model they released previously. Fingers crossed on this one!

    A hundred bucks seem to indicate a decently large train station set. I am hopefully optimistic!

    Voted for Trains. According to a calculation by someone in a LEGO Train Facebook group, Trains is currently in fourth. I am actually quite surprised by this. There must be a lot more pent-up demand than I initially thought! It bodes well for future releases.
