Heroica RPG - Quest#10: Extra-Curricular Activities
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Certainly. Our night guard is called Jensen, and he has been in our service for over thirty years now, and has done a splendid job so far. He is an orc of few words, though, so you will not get much out of him when you meet him later today. He is still sleeping in his own home at this moment, but he should arrive to work in a couple of hours." "Oh, they are gruesome words, grim and dark and threatening, sometimes incomprehensible... The vandals are obviously trying to scare us. The paint they use is blood-red, you see. Our cleaning staff are complaining loudly about having to scrub the walls each morning before the students arrive. You can bet you will see the scribblings yourself tonight, if you don't stop the vandals in time." "Any more questions?" -
It's just a facade, sorry. There's nothing more to see besides what is already shown. The interiors are all separate sets, as well.
-
No. They're just fellow gang members trying to sway the vote against Shadowghost. It's so painstakingly obvious it makes my teeth ache. And boy do I have a lot of teeth! Rawwwr!!!
-
And the quest is up! Bricksandparts and The_Customizer, both of you were missing some information from your signatures, so please check the quest topic and match the info accordingly.

Four heroes made their way to the Academy of Enlightenment to investigate the case of nightly vandals terrorizing the school. The four were: Alf Gregory (played by Bricksandparts) Level 1 Barbarian Power: 4 Health: 8/8 Gold: 0 Inventory: Greatsword (WP:3), Potion, Mead, Shovel En Sabah Nur (played by Jebediahs) Level 4 Mage *Lucky* Power: 9 Health: 8/8 Ether: 8/8 Gold: 0 Inventory: Sangriste Dagger (WP:5), Loaded Die (permanent lucky-effect), Garnet (Earth), 3 Potions, 3 Tonics, Venom, Bedroll Erdathcath Madilinas (played by The_Customizer) Level 1 Ranger Power: 4 Health: 6/6 Gold: 5 Inventory: Longbow (WP:3), Potion, Smoke Bomb, Bedroll Maurice Ratibor (played by Etzel) Level 1 Cleric Power: 4 Health: 9/9 Ether: 5/5 Gold: 5 Inventory: Steel Mace (WP:3), Potion, Remedy The party came to the entrance of the academy. It looked like the days lessons were ending, and the students were returning to their homes. Some of the students lingered to socialize at the courtyard on front of the academy. An elderly man in large spectacles stood in front of the front doors and motioned the party to approach. "Greetings! You must be the four champions from Heroica that I chose to deliver our noble academy from the menace that irks us? I am Provost Darlavon Lector, and I'm in charge of the administration of this school. This institute was founded one hundred and twenty-four years ago by the noble houses that ruled during that time. We educate the youth of the wealthy and influential families of Eubric. But I see I am boring you with this history lesson." "Now, onto the pressing matters. For over a week now, our school has been terrorized after nightfall. On the morning there's no trace of the perpetrators, just the mess they have left behind. Oh, the things they scribble on the walls... These acts of vandalisms are sure to be the work of some uneducated ruffians, I tell you! The strangest thing is that our night guard has not a soul inside the academy at any of these nights." "Well, you are here to get rid of the pests, I hope. Tonight, you will wait in the premisis of the academy until it becomes dark, and watch to see if anyone enters the building. Then, you are free to investigate the grounds. You must catch the culprits red-handed so we can be sure the problem has been taken care of. Needless to say, if you do not catch the vandals before dawn, your quest will fail. Now, do you have further questions about your mission?" The party can ask the provost anything that might help them.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion
Sandy replied to whung's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is definitely another exquisite array of figs. I simply can't wait getting my hands on each of them! The bunny is male (no lipstick or eyelashes). The five females of the series are the Bride, the Valkyrie, the Olympic Swimmer, the Red Riding Hood and the Punk Guitarist. -
Good pointers, each one. Thanks, Zephy! The guide on the first post already advices against having parties larger than 6, so I'm glad I was right about that. I think that if players are taken out of the quest, it should be permanent (ie. kicking them out). Leaving them hanging is not fair, like you said. And sure, I encourage all future QMs to have as many out-of-battle activities as they can come up with. They bring diversity to the quests.

I apologize for the delay in starting Quest #10, but it will be up later today. We've just had guests over for the weekend, so I haven't found the time to launch the quest...
-
Rawwwrrr! It's no wonder that Drakius and his prison bitch Derwar rise into defense, but I'm more inclined to go with Shadowghost who brought the information forward first. This does mean that further investigation of Shadowghost is in order, I think. Vote: Drakius Knight (Dragonator)
-
Umm, what is going on here? It seems that we're finding scum left and right... It seems that there might be more factions than none of us anticipated in this prison... Did you not hear Shadowghost? He already revealed that Drakius Knight belongs to the scummy Venus Gang. Like Tierro yesterday, I have no reason not to trust Shadowghost at this point.

The robed man in a peculiar hat returned to the Hall to reveal the heroes who were selected to the quest at the Academy of Enlightenment. Participants for Quest#10: Extra-Curricular Activities ~ Alf Gregory, Level 1 Barbarian (Bricksandparts) ~ Erdathcath Madilinas, Level 1 Ranger (The_Customizer) ~ En Sabah Nur, Level 4 Mage (Jebediahs) ~ Maurice Ratibor, Level 1 Cleric (Etzel) *Party Leader* At the end of the list it said that the participants should arrive to the Academy tomorrow afternoon.

Um, you didn't see the pictures I just posted before your post? On another topic, I'm waiting for Masked Builder to release his roster of players before I reveal mine for Quest #10. I gave him the first pick, because he posted his quest pitch before I did mine.
-
The quest banners don't need to be similar by any means. But if you want that type of a banner, I can make one for you. I already made one for Masked Builder.
-
Not bad suggestions, but like others have said, I'd rather not add any more number crunching into this game. There are various stages of reputation, though (Alexis already has "great" reputation among the Hinckwells, having completed two quests for them). And I'm thinking of adding negative reputation to the mix in the future as well. Here you go, Princess Storm! I found more matching legs for your character, hope you don't mind. They're from the Kingdoms Advent Calendar wizard.
-
I can. I haven't chewed my minifig parts, after all. Just hold on a moment, please...

Ellaria looked confused. "Do you mean Tarn? He wasn't mean to me, just painfully oblivious... And he's not a beastly thug, either!" Realizing her voice had risen almost to a shout, Ellaria blushed. "I apologize, Haldor, I forgot my manners... Perhaps it is better I do not fall for another hero. It would be unimaginably painful if either one of us got slain in a quest that the other one was not in, wouldn't it? You must worry about your Jess's well-being a lot, Haldor." The girls take a moment to compare their equipment. When they're done, they are surprised to find a crowd of men staring at them in a weird, discomforting way.
-
Yes, though you can simply write your weapon as Mockthril Longbow (WP: 8, lightning-elemental).
-
I might remember wrong. I'm sort of famous for not remembering things...
-
Ellaria nodded at Alexis. "I think you're absolutely right. Those throwing weapons sound like a chore to use. What kind of a moron invented them?" ( )
-
I've heard a story with four groups of scum. It was called Eurogina, I believe. Like apparently everyone, I will... *cue Jaws tune* dun dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun... Vote: Jissaleh Blazen (JimButcher)
-
I've noticed that too. People, if you want to say something out-of-character, please use this topic! Especially if you don't have anything to say in-character (I'm looking at you, Bricksandparts).
-
RawwwwwwrRRR!!!! That was for you, my lycanthropic friend. Anyway, I can hardly believe this is true. Could we have gotten so lucky on Day 1? But of course we have to vote for Jissaleh now, if only to test Tierro's trustworthiness. Thanks for bringing it up, Tierro, even though it is risky. I'm still wondering if the meals we chose will be revealed at some point during the day...

The orc matron oggled the ogre suspiciously. "You're a persistent fellow, aren't you? Okay, since you seem willing to listen, I'll tell you my story. I was born to a couple of orcish slaves here in Eubric. They were killed during one of those slave mutinies you never hear talked about. I was just a wee lass back then, but I managed to find my way to the front door of this hall, where the saloon owner found me. He was a grumpy old man called Johnny Thunder, a retired champion of Heroica. Mr. Thunder took me under his wing and raised me. I've worked in this bar for my whole life, you see. When death came a'knocking for Old Johnny, I inherited the saloon. Of course back then many locals resented the idea of an orc owning anything within the city, but I found my place in Heroica." "It's now been almost fifty years from the day when I found my way here, hungry and shivering. I've seen all sorts of heroes - both wannabes and true ones - pass through those doors. My only son Sham... Well, he rarely comes here anymore. He wanted to know who his father was, but I couldn't bring myself to tell him. Nor will I tell it to you, lump. It's the one secret I do not wish to divulge."
-
Ellaria turned as Tarn called her out. But seeing the dashing barbarian no longer made her heart flutter as much as it used to. Something had changed. Tarn asked her about fusing magical gems with weapons. She couldn't help but to roll her eyes a little. "You need to go to a smithy with your gem and your weapon. There's one recommended by Heroica at the Marketplace, kept by one Anwyl Smokebeard. He'll help you out. Now, was there something else?

Thanks for the suggestion, it's an interesting idea. But no. Let's just stick to the basic classes we've got, okay?
