  1. That is correct.
  2. The party searches the auditorium more thoroughly this time, but they still do not find anything there. The ominous whispers still linger in the air, though.
  3. Or maybe the party just hasn't found it yet. As the party puts the globes in their possession to place, they see how the metal rods revolve around the central pole. Alf bends to pick up one of the magnifying glasses, but sees that it got broken in the blast. There is nothing more to find in the ruined library. What does Alf want to use his magnifying glass on?
  4. I believe it's a cryptogram. So each letter is actually another letter, and you have to crack the code to find out what it says. But this is just my guess, I don't know for sure.
  5. Results of Round One of the Library Battle: >En Sabah Nur uses Ice Bomb >Alf Gregory uses Ice Bomb >Jensen vs. Brown Book - Special Damage >Maurice Ratibor vs. Blue Book - Hit >Erdathcath Madilinas vs. Tan Book - Damage Green Book - Free Hit against En Sabah Nur Red Book - Free Hit against Alf Gregory The surprising battle begins. Both Nur and Alf decide to spend an ice bomb to quickly get rid of the flying books, and with that, the battle is over before it really began. THE BATTLE IS VICTORIOUS! All party members gain a level of experience. The enemies drop five tonics. Party: Alf Gregory (played by Bricksandparts) Level 6 Barbarian Power: 9 Health: 13/14 Gold: 0 Inventory: Greatsword (WP:3), Helmet (+1 max. health), 2 Potions, Venom, Mead, Ice Bomb, Shovel, Magnifying Glass, Crystal Ball En Sabah Nur (played by Jebediahs) Level 10 Mage *Lucky* Power: 15 Health: 8/15 Ether: 10/14 Gold: 0 Inventory: Sangriste Dagger (WP:5), Helmet (+1 max. health), Loaded Die (permanent lucky-effect), Garnet (Earth), Diamond (Light), 4 Potions, 2 Tonics, Grand Tonic, Remedy, Mead, Smoke Bomb, Bedroll, Magnifying Glass Erdathcath Madilinas (played by The_Customizer) Level 6 Ranger Power: 9 Health: 6/12 Gold: 5 Inventory: Longbow (WP:3), Helmet (+1 max. health), Potion, Grand Potion, Smoke Bomb, Ice Bomb, Bedroll, Crystal Ball Maurice Ratibor (played by Etzel) Level 6 Cleric Power: 9 Health: 8/15 Ether: 7/10 Gold: 5 Inventory: Steel Mace (WP:3), Helmet (+1 max. health), Helmet (+1 max. health, unequipped), Potion, Tonic, Venom, Red Globe, Black Globe, Brown Globe, Grey Globe, Glue Jensen (NPC) Level 9 Night Guard Power: 13 (17 against rock monsters) Health: 10/19 Gold: 0 Inventory: Security Bat (WP:4/8 against rock monsters), Helmet (+1 max. health) Party Leader, how will the spoils of the battle be divided? 5x Tonic - Restores 5 ether to the target. The astronomy book that Maurice was grasping looked like it had gone through a shredder and then burned. Only a single page remained somewhat intact, although it was tattered as well. With all the books sprawled on the floors and the shelves, the party had no time to try to find another guide to astronomy, so the one page was all they had to go with in trying to decide how the globes should be aligned.
  6. ~A new quest (#13) has been posted to the Quest Board!~
  7. I didn't think it was unfair. Sure, the odds were stacked against the party because of a few unlucky rolls early on in the battle, but it could have gone a totally different way as well. The battles rely on luck for the most part, so I believe it's only fair that the reward stays the same no matter how lucky/unlucky you are. Gaining experience has been a tough issue to solve from the get-go, so it's no wonder if it still feels unbalanced to some of you guys. I've grown accustomed to this system of steady growth, myself.
  8. OoC: Your stats shouldn't change, since you only gained half a level. You didn't really level up yet. "Oh, I don't know if you can rest here, in front of these dastardly goblins... If you can't I'd be happy to heal you. Alexis, let me at least help you." Ellaria heals Alexis back to full health at the cost of an ether. "Oh, and Tesni, I wouldn't mind having one of those ladles of gumbo. And some gold would be nice as well." Ellaria puts her hands on her hips as she turns to face the goblins. "We already kicked your megablocks to next Tuesday, so start talking! How big is your party? And have you actually located any of the children yet? And what in Sylvania's name was the gnome thinking, hiring you lot to save his children?!"
  9. The party returns to the library, and begin searching for books about astronomy. But in their haste they fail to notice how the books start to hum and tremble in the shelves. As Maurice reaches to grab a promising book from the shelf, the entire room explodes. The party suffers a loss of half their health. As they stand up from among the devastation, they see five glowing books fluttering around. The enchanted tomes promptly engage the party into a battle. PREPARE FOR BATTLE! Enemies: Flying Book (Brown) Type: Flying Level: 2 Health: 8/8 Special: Bad Education – Completely depletes the ether of the target (no effect on targets with no ether). All of you, please post your targets and the row you want to fight from. Also state if you want to heal, cast a spell, flee or use an item instead. Any enemy not targetted will get a Free Hit against a party member.
  10. Did you use only tiles? If you did, it's no wonder they fell off... I stacked 1x2 plates together, and put a 1x2 plate on the top. Such stacks fit the shelves like a glove.
  11. OoC: Yes, the globe halves are now glued together. The party searches the Planetarium, but there's nothing else in the room except the planet model.
  12. Nothing happens. None of the heroes are educated in astronomy, but perhaps they could find more information about the planets somewhere in the academy...
  13. The party continued their way to the Planetarium through the Auditorium. There they found entrances to the Atrium and the West Wing, but on the western wall there was an empty niche instead of a door. In the middle of the room there was a strange iron pole standing from a golden dome. The pole had four identical extensions with broken down ends. It became obvious that the globes that the party had been broken out of the contraption. Maybe if the party got the solar system model working again, the way up to the Observatory would open. What does the party wish to do now?
  14. Nothing happens. Sometimes tiles are just tiles. Other than the whispers, the party finds nothing of interest from the auditorium. What will the party do now?
  15. There's a new magic shop now open at the Marketplace. It'll be up for a month, so I hope everyone will get the chance to visit it if they wish. And I have to apologize, but it mainly sells things suitable for mages and clerics.
  16. At the Marketplace, Portia runs to Gnomeo's stall in a hurry. "Gnomeo, o Gnomeo! It's her!" the potion seller gasped, out of breath. "I just saw that garish wagon of hers heading this way! Why can't she just stay away for at least a year, and leave us honourable merchants at peace? "Nyeh, you're just jealous that she gets more customers than you, Portia!" Gnomeo mocked. "Even though she's green as a frog, nyeh nyeh!" And at that moment, the horseless wagon rolled past the two merchants. Sitting solemnly on the driver's seat was a witch dressed in all black. Her skin really was bright green, but her features were human, not orcish as one would expect. The witch waved merrily to her oggling colleagues. "Happy Samhain, you two!" she shouted at them. "Elphaba", Portia hissed through gritted teeth, just about managing to nod politely. "Wipe that sour expression off your face, nyeh! You know she'll only stay here for a month or so", Gnomeo consoled Portia. "That, dear Gnomeo, is a month too long!" Portia exclaimed before returning to her stall. The witch Elphaba parked her enchanted wagon near the other stalls, opened the hatch on the side of the cart and began putting out her magical wares. ~The new magic shop is open from the 28th of October to the 30th of November!~
  17. There are just some mind-numbing equations scribbled onto the blackboard, and the piece of parchment seems to be some absent-minded teacher's notes for a lecture.
  18. Party: Alf Gregory (played by Bricksandparts) Level 5 Barbarian Power: 8 Health: 13/13 Gold: 0 Inventory: Greatsword (WP:3), Helmet (+1 max. health), 2 Potions, Venom, Mead, 2 Ice Bombs, Shovel, Magnifying Glass, Crystal Ball En Sabah Nur (played by Jebediahs) Level 9 Mage *Lucky* Power: 14 Health: 14/14 Ether: 9/13 Gold: 0 Inventory: Sangriste Dagger (WP:5), Helmet (+1 max. health), Loaded Die (permanent lucky-effect), Garnet (Earth), Diamond (Light), 4 Potions, 2 Tonics, Grand Tonic, Remedy, Mead, Smoke Bomb, Ice Bomb, Bedroll, Magnifying Glass Erdathcath Madilinas (played by The_Customizer) Level 5 Ranger Power: 8 Health: 9/11 Gold: 5 Inventory: Longbow (WP:3), Helmet (+1 max. health), Potion, Grand Potion, Smoke Bomb, Ice Bomb, Bedroll, Crystal Ball Maurice Ratibor (played by Etzel) Level 5 Cleric Power: 8 Health: 14/14 Ether: 6/9 Gold: 5 Inventory: Steel Mace (WP:3), Helmet (+1 max. health), Helmet (+1 max. health, unequipped), Potion, Tonic, Venom, Red Globe, Black Globe, 2 Halves of a Brown Globe, 2 Halves of a Grey Globe, Glue Jensen (NPC) Level 8 Night Guard Power: 12 (16 against rock monsters) Health: 18/18 Gold: 0 Inventory: Security Bat (WP:4/8 against rock monsters), Helmet (+1 max. health) The party decides to check the Auditorium. There are doors there to the Planetarium, the Library and the Atrium where they just came from. The auditorium was a big space with seats in a descending, semi-circular shape. Imposing statues of Amadea and Melodion watched over the hall. Odd whispers echo throughout the room. The heroes can't quite grasp at what they are saying, though.
  19. Feeling rejuvenated, Ellaria attacks the Goblin Demolitionist from the front row. "We have a score to settle!" she shouts to the goblin.
  20. I really love your inventive enemies, Brickdoctor! I do have one note about one of the current ones: If a hero is stripped of his or her weapon, they should have zero WP left, since WP stands for Weapon Power. Thus, without a weapon they would only attack with a strength equal to their level.
  21. OoC: In case you were wondering why the other gargoyle had lower health than the other, I decided to move the enemy stats from the first battle against them. How would have the gargoyle be able to heal itself, anyway? Results of Round One of the Gargoyle Battle: Jensen vs. Gargoyle B - Critical Hit Alf Gregory vs. Gargoyle A - Extra Critical Hit >Erdathcath Madilinas uses Ice Bomb >En Sabah Nur (Light) vs. Gargoyle B - Shield: Magic Burst (Light)/Miss Maurice Ratibor vs. Gargoyle A - Miss The battle against the gargoyles continues from where it was left earlier. Jensen scores a critical hit, dealing a whopping 23 damage to the rock-type enemy. Alf also gains a massive hit against his target, causing 13 damage. Erdathcath throws an Ice Bomb at the enemies, dealing 5 damage to both of them. Nur's powers boil over again, and his Magic Burst of light sears the enemies for 13 damage, which is enough to take out the second gargoyle. Maurice misses - once again. One enemy remains. Enemies: Gargoyle A Type: Rock, Flying Level: 4 Health: 14/45 Special: Plummet – Causes 8 damage to the target, but also takes away 2 health from the Gargoyle. The stone creature flies up in the air and plummets down against Jensen, causing 8 damage to the night guard but also hurting itself for 2 health points. Alf goes into a Frenzy, attacking the gargoyle for 7 damage. The gargoyle hurts Erdathcath, taking away 2 health from her. Nur's attack misses. Then the gargoyle does its plummeting move again, this time against Maurice. The cleric is damaged for 8 points, and the gargoyle for another 2. The enemy is still standing. Jensen takes the Sentinel position, protecting the party for the next round. Alf takes 4 damage from the gargoyle's attack. Erdathcath puts three arrows into her bow and finishes the enemy off with a Tripleshot that deals a total of 21 damage. THE BATTLE IS VICTORIOUS! All party members gain a level of experience. (quest item) With the gargoyles out of the way, the party is now free to enter the Library, the Planetarium and the Auditorium from the yard, or return to the Entrance Hall.
  22. The party decides to return downstairs and go to the Atrium again. When they step outside, they notice how it's gotten lighter since their last visit outside. The dawn was still some hours away, but the party had no time to wander headlessly anymore. Determined to take out the gargoyles patrolling the atrium, the party drew their weapons and charged. "Let me at 'em with my trusty bat! It works wonder against stone", Jensen howled, swinging his weapon wildly. PREPARE FOR BATTLE! EDIT: Added Alf's automatic recovery. I always forget it.
