  1. That was my purpose, since Eubric really isn't a nice place to live in, especially if you're not wealthy or cunning enough. I'm not even sure if I want the murder of Isabeau Carpenter to ever be solved, since this feels like a fitting conclusion to the tragedy.
  2. Who has white flags?! I sure don't... Why can't it be simply north - east - south - west, with complementary colors depending on the faction within the region?
  3. Since there's already grasslands and forests in the center, should the Western faction be called something else? Like Western Mountains or Western Coast? Just to give the westerners more options... I myself would like to join Southern Desert. I'm already imagining it something like this:
  4. I'm sorry to say I'm not signing into this even though you've done a fantastic job organizing the game, I just have too many projects going on as it is. But I think you'll find the most off-putting sentence quoted below (and it's quite contradictory to what I quote above). I have seen all the Batman movies and watched some of the cartoons (and even seen some of the episodes from the old live action tv-series), but I still don't know even a half of these villains. Asking to gather information enough to play these characters in a believable manner is probably what's putting most people off. Perhaps you should forget the requirement for having insight about the Batman universe and let people play these characters "wrong"? Alternatively, can't you just cut the amount of characters and start the game with the players you've got?
  5. None of the weapons can be used outside the battle, so neither can the Healing Staff. Thanks for the insightful statistics, but you missed my point. I wasn't saying that Capt.JohnPaul was giving too much stuff, I was saying he was giving stuff away too easily. But I admit that it's hard balancing the battles because so much of them is depending on the die rolls. In the future QMs should always remember that weak enemies - no matter how many of them there are in the battle - can be easily defeated by a bomb or a Frenzy or a Magic Burst.
  6. "Thanks, Tesni! You're the best! Now, let us move on to the direction that Alexis's compass points."
  7. I can answer that: no, the blacksmith does not upgrade accessories, only weapons and shields. Sorry.
  8. Ellaria raises her hand sheepishly. "I can take the compass, if nobody else wants it. Also, you must mean we all get 20 gold, right? Because that's what you get if you divide 100 gold into five equal portions..."
  9. "Thank Sylvania you're hale and healthy, Oliveri! Now, before we move on, I would like to heal myself and Alexis at the cost of 2 ethers. Alexis, where does your compass point to now? Remember to focus on finding the other two children."
  10. In my opinion we should find some sort of focus on what to build. If we give free hands to everyone, then what's the point of having guilds in the first place. We at least need some sort of list of things to build and a map to place them on, just like in the first Castle Community Build that was held here some years back. If we go with this concept of splitting the guilds according to the alignments (lawful men, rogues, fantasy races and evil races), may I suggest we make the guilds free-for-all? We'd have four guilds, but everyone would be able to contribute to each of them. That way we'd keep the structure of the guilds, but also prevent alienating builders who want to build on several alignments. I'm not totally opposed to the idea of dividing people into guilds, but we'd risk losing many enthusiastic builders that way.
  11. Oh, forgot to take that into account. I'd say in those cases the healing attack would miss. I'll update the FAQ with this info.
  12. Thanks for the summary, SI-mocs! This recap is exactly what I was looking for. Well, now that I've signed up, I might as well contribute to the discussion. I think the next issue we have to settle is whether the guilds/teams will focus on one alignment each, or whether all alignments be open to all guilds. In the latter case, the guilds must not be named after Siren's suggestions, though. I'd suggest the building could be done in "rounds", with each round consisting of a task that's assigned to the guilds. For example, if the first task is building a Watch Tower, each guild would randomly be given one of the alignments. On another task, the alignments would be randomly lotted again. This way the guilds wouldn't be stuck on one theme for the whole duration of this project. I do like Siren's suggestion for the alignments: lawful humans, chaotic humans, arcane races and evil races.
  13. He discarded his first character, Signor Bacari, after participating in a quest. I still don't understand why he did it, really, but it was his choice.
  14. Yes, shields can be upgraded at the blacksmith's. I'd rather not allow upgrading cloaks or other accessories that give SP, though, since it's unrealistic that a smith could increase their power. Okay, sorry for being so harsh. I know how hard it is to plan these quests while taking everything into consideration - even though I made up most of the rules myself - but on the other hand you yourself said you added this battle to give the party more levels, so I perhaps misunderstood your motives. In my thinking levels should be earned, not handed out.
  15. Nowhere, yet. I've only posted pictures of some of them into this topic. You'll get the full list with all the details once someone hits Level 15. I hope this is the last time I have to answer this question, though...
  16. That's a good boy! When you've finished the quest you're on, get back to me by sending me a PM with some further information about your plans (how long you think it will take, how many battles or other events you've planned etc.) as well as one or two pictures you've taken for the quest. Then we'll discuss whether or not your quest is fit for playing.
  17. I think that was cheap, Capt.JohnPaul. At least have the decency to pose a real challenge to the players, instead of awarding them a level and 25 bones in exchange for one bomb. This is exactly the kind of behaviour people were worried to see when we planned this game to have multiple QMs. Hosting a quest shouldn't be just about dishing items, experience and gold to the players, it should be about challenging them in all fronts. That's what makes the quests fun to play, not getting loads of stuff (although that's nice too).
  18. Looks much better, but I don't like the involvement of Wolfgang in there. It just clashes with the idea of what I want to do with that faction - why would they start a genocide in a foreign land, anyway? I've also been suggested quests where either the Hinckwells or the Shadeaux kidnap the other's children or try to assassin the other's leader, and I've asked the people presenting those ideas: WHY? Remember that having a villain without a motivation to what he or she does is childish and uninteresting. And I still wish to keep each of the reigning houses in Eubric free of being slotted purely good or purely evil. Hope you guys remember this when planning for quests. And just because I knock down your idea for a quest initially doesn't mean I'm not open to hearing other suggestions. On the other hand, not everyone is fit to host a quest for this game for one reason or another, and that has to be accepted as well. I don't want to force players to embark on a half-arsed quest where the QM doesn't know what they are supposed to do.
  19. I'd love to be in this project, so count Sandy in! I do have a question, though. Will we be allowed to choose our guild, or will we be randomly slotted to them? I for one think getting to choose our own guilds would increase motivation to build for them, but on the other hand it might lead to the guilds having an uneven number of builders. I have to disagree, ISC, there's so much going on in that topic that it doesn't really spell it out at all. You can't expect people to read 9 pages and pick out the essential information from it, at least in my opinion. It'd be best to have some sort of compilation as to what exactly we're signing into.
  20. Actual grammatical errors marked in red, confusing lines marked in blue. There's just too many issues I have with this pitch, sorry...
  21. So, there's a plague in Eubric now? And is this Wolfpack supposed to be different from the Wolfgang? And there are many grammatical mistakes in there... Sorry, but this quest pitch still needs work. It would work better if the plague was raging some other place rather than Eubric.

  23. Thanks for hosting a quest, Zepher! I'm glad you have the ability to see the strengths as well as the shortcomings in your quest, and I'm sure your next quest will be much more refined. What?! A private side quest? It sounds great, but I had no idea you were on one. How was it arranged, through PMs? You can either put it in here or send a PM my way. I'm sorry to say that I don't think you have it in you to host a quest just yet, based on what I saw during the quest you played. Just focus on playing the game and having fun with it, okay?
  24. It simply replaces doing damage with healing. If you attack a normal enemy with it and roll a "Hit", you will heal it instead of causing damage. If the enemy is undead, though, you can damage it. No Ether is consumed, and the effectiveness of the healing is equal to your power. I think this will go to the FAQ, but I've decided that when you target allies with an attack (for example in the case of confusion or having a healing weapon), the rows do not matter. You will always cause full "damage" to your allies, no matter which row you or your targeted party member are standing in. It's just the simplest solution. I've only posted pictures of nine of the jobs (the latest batch of three was published earlier this week). The full details will come once someone reached Level 15 - and a whole new Heroica RPG topic will open for that occasion, because we clearly don't have enough topics for this game yet. Yes, I've been thinking of adding more powerful bombs in the future, but I've also planned for an expert class (which opens at Level 30 if special requirements are met) that specializes in using the bombs as ammunition. But that's all in planning stage at this moment.
  25. Ellaria encourages everyone to just keep on pressing the orcish ranger until he succumbs. She targets the Maa'ri Ranger from the front row.
