Yeah, as Scubacarrot said the lack of minifigs is not a problem (besides, there are many non-medieval-looking characters in the game as well) as someone can make you character fig for you. Just tell me what you have in mind and you can get your character avatar in a few short moments. If you have the motivation to play and learn the rules, you should join up.

Heroica RPG - Quest#15: Hoisting Down the Jolly Roger
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"You are sadly mistaken, Miss. I will certainly not give you the gold if you expose me to my brother. I have the key to that chest and you will only get it over my dead body in that case." -
Welcome to the game, Sloop! As well as any others I might have forgotten to welcome earlier. Here's your character picture in avatar-size (100x100 pixels): I'm also waiting for a picture from Endgame. You cannot participate into any quests without one, but I'm sure there are plenty of volunteers (myself included) that can make your fig for you if you can't do it yourself.

He carried a strange contraption on his back. "Ah, you have breached my last line of defense. I applaud your performance, heroes of Heroica", said the old man, who could not be anyone else but the acclaimed Vincent Legonardo. He then shouted over his shoulder. "Reno, looks like your guests have arrived." The old man then nodded at the baffled heroes, and before anyone could do anything, he pulled a lever in the machine he was carrying, and was hoisted in the air by it. The backpack flew him straight to the airship hovering above. Now the way to Reno was unobstructed, and the heroes stepped in, drawing their weapons. They were met with the spitting image of Admiral Bonaparte, save from the clothes and the eyepatch. "So you are the infiltrators that my brother sent to kill me", the pirate captain said. "You have done an excellent job fulfilling your task, but before you give me the execution you think I deserve, please hear me out. You've got me cornered and outnumbered, so what's the harm?" Reluctantly the party agrees, but still keep their weapons at hand. "As you correctly guessed, I am not your garden-variety pirate captain, but the 'missing' Reno Bonaparte. Surely you are wondering why a member of the family that has guarded this sea for generations has turned against his own kin. Just like you, I am but a pawn in a much larger game. I have lived in the shadow of my brother ever since I got injured in the battle where our father perished, and Nemo was raised as the admiral. I don't know if you are aware, but my brother is not worthy of his title. He has closed the Free Islands from free trade by imposing hefty toll fees to all foreign merchants. This has made the likes of the Hinckwells and the Shadeaux even richer, while taking away the freedom that our city was once known for." "Last year I was approached by the Ji Pei with a most interesting offer. They would help me gain hold of the Crystalline Sea by providing me with their superior technology. However, I could not just start building a fleet of my own without raising questions, and flat-out murdering my brother to assume his position was out of the question. Despite our different views, Nemo is still my twin brother and I love him dearly. That is why I took upon this new identity as Jolly Roger, the dreaded pirate captain. For months I built my army of pirates and machines here in this fortress, doing some raids here and there to attract my brother's attention. I knew that my intentional "disappearance" would provoke him to strike with full force, and then I could use the Tritech Cannons to sink most of his fleet and gain hold of the sea." "Little did I know that Nemo got Heroica involved, and here you stand, having destroyed my elaborate plan. I succumb to your will, but not without making a counter-offer. I can still continue working against my brother if you take me safely back to Eubric and we tell him that Jolly Roger is dead. He doesn't need to know that the Ji Pei and Vincent Legonardo were involved, either. I will give up piracy and find another way to end Nemo's tyranny. I will of course make all this worth your while." Reno walks to a chest and opens it to show that it's filled to the brim with gold. He then locks it again. "1200 gold, all yours if you agree to protect me, along with whatever my brother promised you. The question remains, which do you value more: loyalty or freedom?" What will the party reply? -
Ah, yes. I already forgot about it. I edited the descriptions accordingly.

It is totally alright to kick out inactive players from the quest, but on the other hand their characters can still be used to help the rest of the party as sort of "semi-NPCs". I just want to address how rude it is to sign into a quest and then quit playing in it without saying a word. You should at least have the guts to say "this game isn't for me, I don't want to play anymore" instead of just leaving everyone to wonder where you went. Here are the effects of the scrolls once again. They can also be found at the Treasury, like nearly all other items. Scroll of Sleep – Enables casting the sleep-effect to the target, forcing it to miss its turn for three rounds or until woken up by an attack. Each casting has a 50/50 chance of success and costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. Scroll of Blindness – Enables casting the blinded-effect to the target , making it unable to use a physical attack for the next three rounds. Each casting has a 50/50 chance of success and costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. Scroll of Sealing – Enables casting the sealed-effect to the target, making it unable to use a special skill for the next three rounds. Each casting has a 50/50 chance of success and costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. Scroll of Confusion – Enables casting the confused-effect to the target for the next three rounds, during which it has a 50/50 chance of targeting an ally instead of its opponents. Each casting has a 50/50 chance of success and costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. As you see, some of the effects slightly vary when they are cast on an enemy instead of on a hero.

What a fun question! When I think of who would portray Ellaria the best, I immediately thought of Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark in the Game of Thrones tv-series. She certainly has the looks, the age and the vulnerability of my character. Would you agree?

I will actually take a break from hosting a quest after wrapping up the current ones in order to host the next Mafia School game (which is due to start by the end of this month), but after that I have several short quests I'd like to play out. I've now learned my lesson on not to host two huuuuuge quests at the same time. Well, at least there's been enough "epicness" to last a good while.

Heroica RPG - Quest#15: Hoisting Down the Jolly Roger
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Eric heard two distinct voices coming from inside the cabin. " - then go already and stop pestering me!" said a gruff voice. "I should've known not to trust you foreigners in the first place." "The aoi are the wisest people in the whole Olegaia", said a much older and squeakier voice. "You have seen the extend of their prowess yourself, Reno. You are a fool to turn your back on the honorable family. They will not remember this kindly." "Ba ha ha, I could not care less about the feelings of those blue-skinned freaks!" Reno replied. "It's the wasted time and effort I'm concerned about, and if those infiltrators catch wind of my position here and live to tell it to my brother, all my plans will be blown to the wind. I thought that your machines would've been enough to stop a few nosy Heroica sellswords, but you have utterly failed me. Your reputation as the resident genius is highly exaggerated, Vincent." This made the old man start another rant, and left the party a little more time before they would have to either retreat or face their adversary. -
Heroica RPG - Quest#15: Hoisting Down the Jolly Roger
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
OoC: So sorry for the delay, but now I've got everything I need to finish the quest, as well as time to update frequently. No more delays, just smooth sailing to the finish from here on out! The weary party made its way back to the imposing door that was said to lead to Jolly Roger's den. The half-orc merchant Sham Poo was lurking some way behind them, ready to leap into hiding at the first sight of pirates. Remembering Dr. Gioconda's warning about the door's destructive capabilities, the heroes' hearts started beating faster as they turned the dials to spell out the name of Admiral Bonaparte's lost twin. Everyone let out a sigh as a green light flashed into the skull's eyes, and the door clicked open. Much to their surprise, the door led outside into a thick forest growing on top of the hill fortress. And even more shocking was seeing the sun climbing up towards the peak of the sky. Dawn had come and gone, and "The Sunflower" had sailed away from their rendez-vous point. Deeper into the forest, there was steep steps carved into a hillside. Boldly the heroes climbed up, and encountered a peculiar sight. A rope bridge led to another rocky hill with a broken stern of a ship tangling on top of it. Apparently the captain of these pirates lived on an actual cabin. But even that wasn't the most surprising thing, for a large shadow loomed over the strangely located shipwreck. Looking up, the heroes saw some sort of a flying ship hovering above. An anchor line lead down into the forest, holding the airship steady. Trying their best to ignore the floating ship for now, the six heroes walked over the rope bridge and onto the rickety deck of the shipwreck. They could hear voices inside the cabin. Apparently a heated argument was taking place. Now would be their chance to prepare themselves before facing Jolly Roger, or Reno Bonaparte, or whoever was waiting for them inside that cabin. -
OoC: Yes, the specials alternate. I seem to have forgotten to mention that... Take note that the devoured party member is temporarily removed from the battle, so you cannot heal or revive him or target him with anything until he is "spit out".

OoC: I woke up earlier to let you guys move on with this. The party heads out of the city once again. ~FIFTH NIGHT IN SALMANDA~ Upon reaching the entrance to Kalakita Bog, Djuvali is nowhere to be seen. The Cobra Priest must have left for his homeland already. The party decides to venture deeper into the bog in search of Baba's lost broomstick. At the entrance they turn to the east, and when they come to the first crossing they go straight south. At the next crossing they find a huge red flowerbud. The heroes approach it, and suddenly it opens up to reveal gaping jaws filled with razor-sharp teeth emanating a putrid gas. ~A new quest has been posted on the Quest Board (#25 by Bricksandparts)!~
-
There's already an item like that coming up to the Marketplace. My quest will continue on Thursday (and hopefully reach conclusion soon after that). I had a prolonged meeting today after work, and tomorrow we're going to a concert after work, but Thursday I have a morning shift with the rest of the day free to dedicate to you guys. Thanks for your continued patience. Now I'm off to sleep.
-
As a QM, you can always put immunities on the enemies. Alright, from now on, all scrolls have only a 50% chance of success upon use. Ether is not spent if the effect spell fails. Quest Masters, please make sure the players on your quests notice this.
-
Will the party return directly to the fountain, or try another path through Kalakita Bog?

"Ah yes, Reno! That was it! He didn't say much to me when we arrived here, just told some thugs to lock me up. Apparently he's some sort of a boss around here or something..." -
Miracle will always affect the friendly party, no matter who the cleric targets.

"Oh, that son-of-a-b... He sure fooled me. I thought all Bonapartes were these honorable "guardians of the sea" or something, but this one promised a ride to Eubric and sailed straight to this den of pirates! I haven't seen the guy since. If only I could recall his name... Ramon? Remy? Tino? Mano? Bono? Something like that..." -
If this is something the majority of players want, then sure, the scrolls can be included into the dice-roll-system. Or would the 50% chance of connecting be a better option? With rolling the die, there's always the chance of getting those pesky SHIELD skills... Please discuss, and I'll think about it.

Okay, I'm sorry if this isn't "Heroica in Space" you're planning, Flipz, but it certainly started to sound like it to me. Everything is of course in Dragonator's hands, but I just had to voice out my opinion about this matter before people got too excited about a new game. And no, I'm not jealous about a possible rivalling game, but I believe I have a say whether I want my game to be copied or not. There is room for only one Heroica RPG in EB, in my opinion.
