  1. I want to MOC Civil War scenes. I know that I can get Union soldiers in the Cavalry Builder set, but I was wondering if there were any official (i.e. not custom or Megablocks, etc.) LEGO sets that have minifigures that looked like Confederate soldiers.
  2. I really like the catapult and the dungeon. I also like how it is modular. My only critiques are: * The baddies' siege engine looks rather silly, though I guess that could be fixed. * The baddies all have two-sided faces. This is a personal pet peeve of mine. Two-sided faces mean that I have to always put a helmet or other large headgear on the figure; the figure would look weird if it goes bareheaded or wears a small hat. Again, this problem could be fixed by swapping out the heads with other ones I already have.
  3. Pleasantly surprised by the amount of play features in this set. Excellent!
  4. As a Civil War buff, I am excited to see the set "Cavalry Builder Set," which has Union soldiers. I was wondering if there were any sets (official LEGO only) that contained minifigures that could be used as Confederate soldiers. i.e. Soldier: http://www.popartdecoration.com/projects/confederate-soldier-with-binoculars-and-rifle-2252-1397-696-2.jpg General: http://blog.lib.uiowa.edu/hardin/files/2013/02/220px-Stonewall_Jackson_-_National_Portrait_Gallery.jpg
  5. Anyone know when LEGO will make its announcement on which CUUSOO sets it will make for this year?
  6. Which $12.99 set to buy? Background: Already bought this year: Battle of Alamut, MMV, Iron Man Extremis Port Battle, 4x Knight CMF, 2x Patriot CMF, 1x Judge CMF. I like historical sets the most, but am also interested in Superheroes. I am neutral with regard to most other themes, except that I don't like fantasy themes (e.g. goblins, ghosts, monsters, etc.) I plan to buy the 70404 King's Castle, as I have wanted a LEGO Castle for a long time. In addition, I also plan to buy 1 or 2 other $12.99 sets. The Contenders: * Lone Ranger: Cavalry Builder Set -Pros: Interesting minifigures, historical, great weapons/props (cannon, horse, rifles) -Cons: Not interested in any of the other lone ranger sets (though I'm OK with Western in general), Very few pieces in the set * Upcoming $12.99 Castle set (featuring, I think, a couple knights fighting a couple villains. The set has a dog and a treasure cart.) -Pros: I'm also getting the King's Castle, so this would be a nice addition. The figures look good. -Cons: Concerned that King's Castle's minifigures would make this redundant, as I do not stage massive battles. * Gandalf vs. Saruman -Pros: King's Castle lacks a wizard, so I could get Gandalf and pretend he's Merlin. -Cons: I don't like LOTR, though this set is OK to me as it is more realistic and less fantasy. * Batman vs. Catwoman -Pros: Batman's my fave superhero. -Cons:The Batman in that set has no cape. Rest of the set looks rather boring. * Superman vs. General Zod - Pros: Good piece count, interesting looking scene - Cons: Not a big Superman fan; don't know who General Zod is * TMNT Michaelangelo vs. Kraang - Pros: I like turtles (I count them as superheroes) - Cons: I don't plan to buy the other TMNT sets, and having Michaelangelo without any of his brothers seems a bit pointless. Which set(s) would you recommend that I get?
  7. Please...no polybags unless they are distributed widely. All too often I see a nice polybag set on these forums only to find out that none of the stores near where I live carry them. Very disappointing.
  8. Night and day: LotR: Very popular. Almost always out of stock. Almost impossible to buy certain sets (even at the LEGO Store!): Helm's Deep, Gandalf Arrives, Uruk-Hai army. Shelob Attacks is slightly less popular, but is still better than the Hobbit sets. Hobbit: Not popular at all. Usually in stock. Worst set tends to be Riddles for the Ring (you don't get a full-sized minifigure in that set). Some sets are rarely sold (e.g. Attack of the Wargs). The Hobbit house set is probably the best of the series, but it is not too popular as it is rather expensive.
  9. Lack of historical army building figures is somewhat disappointing.
  10. Very excited about the Roman Commander and the Colonial Soldier. The Tomahawk Warrior might also be interesting, depending on what it looks like.
  11. LOL. That looks like a fun birthday party though.
  12. I personally really like the design on the Knight's armor and shield. I think it is a great army building piece.
  13. I'm kinda surprised that the Waiter is not too popular. It fits in well in City scenes and you would probably need multiple if you were to build a restaurant MOC.
  14. Do you have the instructions for that set? It looks great.
  15. Looks awesome.
  16. Cupcakes! It's a baking contest!
  17. My first MOC on this site!
  18. Should I go for the small cup or the large cup?
  19. Where was the Bartell's (address)?
  20. Minifigure Review: Heroic Knight Just got my first heroic knight today, and overall I'll give it a 9 out of 10. Pros: Lots of pieces, Very good parts pack (the sword, shield, helmet, and armor piece can be used for other minifigures), Very detailed designs (especially on the armor piece) Cons: The helmet would not stay shut if you hold the figure while the feather is attached to the helmet, the face is kinda goofy The cons can be rectified: * To make the helmet stay shut, you could either not hold the knight or just remove the feather. * Of course, you could change the face. Since I plan to get multiples of these, I might change the face anyways to differentiate the knights I have.
  21. Which Fred Meyers tend to have CMFs? I will be going to Pacific Northwest (Seattle) for a business trip later this month and want to pick up some minifigs.
  22. From my collection: Medieval Market Village (1600+ parts!) Battle of Alamut (good castle) Not from my collection, but that I think might be good: Gandalf Arrives (gets you a horse and a wizard, who you could use as Merlin, etc.)
  23. I think it is weird how they have Krang in that tripod thing, as that never appeared in the show. (Spoiler?) The Lego store where I live doesn't seem to advertise the TMNT sets at all. In fact, the TMNT sets are on the lower shelf buried underneath the brick buckets.
  24. Saw the LEGO TMNT Krang set today. Krang was smaller than I thought.
  25. What's the best way to feel for the Judge and the Knight? I need both for my castle MOC. I went to store today, but all of the packages seem so huge. Many of the packages were bulging, and it was challenging to determine whether the bulge was a wig or armor piece or something else. Not to mention that I should feel, identify, and buy. It just seems strange if I were to stand at the store for over five to ten minutes feeling each package (and the store might not like it). Edit (Trivia): By the way, is the Judge supposed to be the Lord Chancellor? That's what he looks like.
