You don't like them because they're legitimately absolutely terrible. They're random things made to look 0% like blasters and are shaped purely for the function. They're for little kids and have zero appeal to adults. They're the worst thing to come out of Star Wars since Jar Jar.

I think every single Spiderman vehicle is stupid and should be a Shield or other kind of vehicle. Honestly I think this latest toon version of Spiderman is pure crap ;). And the way they never update his figure. I do not need an Spiderman Army! I really wish they'd offer variations.

This kills a surprising majority of projects completely. While they had little hope they now have zero hope. Zelda, despite being voted in over and over, will just never happen :P.

I hate that Electro. Doc Oc is an upgrade but seriously, I don't need more Spidermans and Cops. Really wish the Green Goblin was a normal minifigure and not based on the terrible cartoon. Thor still doesn't have a helmet. :P Not to mention the universally terrible builds...

Paid Membership with perks? Any interest?
BrickG replied to Siegfried's topic in Forum Information and Help
Honestly... no. I don't pay to talk on the internet and never will. I doubt there's any perks you could supply that I'd care about. It's just not something I'll likely do. Donating? Maybe. -
The Royal Guards are just not well suited for Minifigures. You always see them in a very specific pose that you cannot duplicate with minifigures at all. They don't guard while holding these things like swords. I'd say you could probably duplicate the pose easier with a lance pointed upwards and shorter. Yeah that extra handle bit wouldn't make sense but the pose would be closer :P.

Horror Stories - Lego you bought off flea-bay and BL
BrickG replied to DrJB's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've never really had a horror story from Bricklink. Though my orders are wrong like 25% of the time. It's always the same thing too, color. People seem to suck at being able to tell the difference between some of the similar colors Lego produces. :P Even then they always send a replacement. -
Got this half off which makes it worth it for sure.

You know, I liked Man of Steel. Yeah, I can see why people didn't. It was small on story and development. Had too much bling. It was far from a perfect movie. Lucky for Snyder his image of Superman fit almost perfectly with mine (details like Lois finding him out so quick aside) so I didn't mind and kind of filled in the blanks with my own mind. Buuut I'm having heavy doubts about the next movie. First off the Nolans are not involved at all. In my opinion the only development and thing that kept the Man of Steel was the Nolan's influence. They're good writers. Snyder... is not. Now that he's got all the power I think he is likely going to Snyder it. The next movie already has entirely too many characters and seems to ALREADY be trying to Avengers it, without having supporting movies for any of the characters but Superman. Nightwing, Flash, Wonder Woman. Batman too (since he's a new version). Then there's Lex and if the rumors hold Doomsday (a reason for all the heroes to combine)... there's just too much going on. Avengers was well received because many of the characters already had a history and characters. Batman might be passable like the Hulk was but your average person doesn't know Wonder Woman for crap (despite her being somewhat iconic). If Wonder Woman is delegated to a Black Widow role that would just freakin' suck. It seems like every character but Superman will be the Black Widows and Hawkeyes of this movie however I doubt Snyder could even do as good as them. Wedon is a master of character interactions which is why he did so well with a movie with arguably way too many characters. I think the next movie will be really flashy. I think it'll have zero development for anyone who isn't Superman and probably Batman. I think treating Wonder Woman and the rest like that is stupid. I see them X-Men 3ing this thing. I don't think Snyder has what it takes to handle so many characters. He can handle visuals. Not the freakin' characters. With the Nolans influence gone I don't think he'll even try.

Lego is pretty safe and it's pretty easy to guess which sets will do well. For the first time in my life I have the capital but I still lack the patience. Takes freakin' years to see a good turnaround. I'm not a "years" kind of guy :P. Then there's the issue of actually SELLING them. To sell enough to make a good amount of $$$ you'd end up working a pretty good amount of time. To sell enough to make business level $$$ you're basically going to full time it like any other job. My current job takes all my time.

Cartoons literally change the shape of things when they're at different angles. It's why doing totally accurate figures is impossible and even the best cell shaded video games have awkward looking angles. When artists want to draw an angle they draw it to look good and that includes changing the shape of the thing so it doesn't translate into a 3d image properly. There will never be a perfect simpsons figure.

I probably wouldn't like this solution because boobs. I mean, so far most female minifigures have boobs except kid minifigures really. Boobs kind of stand out as a gender identifier. Sometimes you can't see 'em but if suddenly no females had boobs I'd wonder where all the boobs went.

To clarify I moved this thing by placing it in a box and driving for 10 minutes. It did not survive a smooth car ride very well. I do not swoosh my models :P.

The build is kind of boring. The minifigures are a mix. Yet another Gandalf. Some more Orcs. The white Orc is decent. The Necromancer, while probably a good representation, is kind of a really plain minifigure I don't care for. Radaghast is awesome though. Honestly, buy it for Rataghast basically.

I think the main issue with the Balrog isn't that it's demonic or anything. It would be tough to do in figure form. It's essentially a d00d almost completely covered in flames. I'm not sure how you'd represent him effectively with all those flames. He'd likely have to be one of the most detailed lego figures we've ever seen both print wise and molding detail wise, by far.

Lego Minifigure things they can improve?
BrickG replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Those legs kind of make me wonder if a shorter torso/arms would be cool too. Not much shorter but enough so that kids aren't just d00ds with shorter legs :P. Might get pretty stubby though. -
I've considered getting more of this set because it is very good. The only issue is the side panel things Ties have fall off pretty easy. If you have to move this thing those will probably pop off.

Lego Minifigure things they can improve?
BrickG replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well I'm glad the Simpsons has properly printed sleeves. Could mean a good improvement on printing arms which has basically been limited to the outside edge. -
The Elf King has awkwardly lower ears that make him look kind of dumb. BTW all the new sets are finally on Amazon, with some on sale. Already got a new one at 33% off.

How are they going to make him more significant in Avengers 2 when there's so many characters? As far as we know every single one of them from 1 is returning (heroes anyways) PLUS Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Nobody will have a significant role at that point and will rely entirely on the previous movies for their development.

I bought some storage bins from lego.com at half off. Kind of overpriced compared to ones I can get in the store that don't have Lego theme and stuff but at the sale it wasn't massively overpriced so I bought them anyways. Then of course, never to be outdone, Amazon.com had a sale on them the next freakin' day for even LESS. Oh, and their shipping is free 2 day shipping (often one day, sometimes same day due to my location). Lego.com's free shipping is like 2 freakin' weeks. Every time I buy from lego.com I end up regretting it because they just are not a good value. Even when I need an exclusive I can usually wait until it's on amazon and get free 0-2 day shipping. I keep wanting to like the official Lego store...

Minifigures are awesome. But... like many I think some stuff can be improved. I'm not someone to get bogged down by nostalgia or old things so I usually welcome changes. The main stuff I'd like to see are better representations of robes/skirts, etc and also small minifigure legs. I kind of think all robed characters having capes is getting kind of old. What can they do to fix it? Pft, Idunno. I just want something more robey. Also applies to other flowing articles of clothing. I want better. And minifigure tiny legs. Come on... we need at LEAST the same amount of incredibly limited articulation. Heck, I'd enjoy more if they kept the figure look basically the same. I don't see why they don't make small legs have articulation... maybe costs? Maybe they don't want the legs to have that "circle" peg shape for the entire leg instead of just the upper part. I don't know. All I know is that the small legs are unnecessarily lame. Anyways, are there any improvements and changes you'd love to see?

They're supposed to be.

It's an okay show. I started watching it on Netflix on a whim while I worked (on my second monitor). The first season starts a bit slow but the characters get really strong. I like Winston the best, he's funny. :P

Numbers don't lie. The UK has a population of 63 million. About 1 in 6 people in the UK watched it. In the US the show got somewhat above 3 million (as opposed to 10 million in the UK) and the US has 313 million people, or almost 5x as many people as the UK. Meaning its popularity in the US is still not comparable. 1 in 100 watched it here. Now you also have to consider the popularity of Doctor Who TOYS in the US. In the UK you can find them commonly. Doctor Who is very kid market friendly. Much more so over there. You can find Doctor Who toys in ToysRus and stuff over there. In the US you'll just about never see Doctor Who toys outside of specialty stores. Nope, ToysRus won't carry them. Barnes and Nobel sometimes does but it's hardly a toy store and they're whim buys often buy adults. The Doctor Who toy market in the US is barely anything. It's oddly less of a kid show over here. It's got a much much smaller toy market. I'm not saying the show isn't growing. It went from awkward cult show most people hadn't heard of over here to a somewhat popular show. But it's still... not much. I highly doubt Doctor Who Lego would make much money Stateside. There just hasn't ever been a market and apparently there still isn't (as they're not selling Doctor Who toys here much at all :P). So what does that translate too? Less sales. Less $$$. Less interest by Lego to pick up the series. And the USA I believe is the BIGGEST Lego Market (correct me if I'm wrong). So neglecting your biggest market probably isn't wise. And there's no history at all of Doctor Who toys selling well over here outside of niche magazines and stuff. I'm just saying I highly doubt even now with Doctor Who at its peak (so far) that it's sustainable in the US. There's absolutely no evidence and the "biggest BBC" ratings in the USA isn't actually saying much (BBC ratings were never that great). I'm not saying this because I hate Doctor Who. Star Trek and Doctor Who would be my most wanted franchises to go to Lego. I even bought those Character Building Daleks and Cybermen in a moment of weakness (usually just a Lego d00d). I'd LOVE to see it. I just don't see it being a good business choice. It would sell incredibly in the UK and stuff but the UK is a relatively small market. Giving the franchise a whole line of sets seems unrealistic until Doctor Who continues to grow in places like the US (and gets more attention from kids). And you mention London. A lovely place I'm probably moving to in a few months :P. But that's LONDON. The popularity of Doctor Who in the bigger markets and other regions, while at an all time high, again just PALES in comparison to Doctor Who's popularity in the UK. It's literally 20x more popular in the UK than the USA. That would seem to suggest the market in the USA for Doctor Who ANYTHING (including Lego) is at least 20x smaller. AGAIN I'd love it. But even if Character Building didn't have the license I don't see it happening. Character Building having the license is a whole other tough issue. Lego has refused Doctor Who Cuusoo Lego stuff literally saying the license belongs to a competitor and they CANNOT get it. Unless we can find out the specifics of the license like the time limit (likely YEARS) we're out of luck there. :(
