When the heck are the new 2014 sets coming to America and Canada? Boo
-
I wouldn't judge the Cantina set yet. I mean, it's got Squidwards in it.
-
Orcs and Goblins are are the same thing in LotRs.
-
I got Jabba's sail barge for Christmas. I don't think I'll build it but just rip the minifigures out.
-
Is it just me or are the eyes on all helmets migrating upwards in this wave?
-
I really hope the next wave has more interesting builds. I love TMNT. But all but one of the builds just suck for the AFOL (or most of us :P). This one is just a mess of bricks to me. I bought the TMNT sets for the minifigures and none of the sets (even the half decent mech one) have seemed to even attempt to be anything but childish, which is sad since TMNT has so many adult fans. As usual I'd love to see a New York City building, or an IMPRESSIVE (this is not) sewer. Maybe the Technodrome. Something that's more than this stuff. Minifigures: 9/10. Build: 3/10. I'm just increasingly depressed about the builds of Lego sets. Since I buy more sets than ever I build more crappy sets than ever. I guess they all can't be USC stuff though.

I'm pretty much thinking we'll never see a proper Lego Balrog or those flying d00ds. And after the Hobbit is over we'll likely never get future LotR sets in the foreseeable future.

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
BrickG replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I'm just really sick of all the plot holes and crap. This created more plot holes than fixed (classic Doctor Who). I mean, he'd suggested several times he could still regenerate despite being 13. Heck, River Song once used anti-regeneration poison on him. And that's just one. I really freakin' wish this show many sense and didn't continually ignore lore that was established literally sometimes a few episodes away. I'm actually angry. Never been angry at a TV show before. :) -
I understand why they made the forest enchanted. I mean, you can't freakin' show pitch black very easily in a movie or TV. It always ends up being bright enough to see stuff so the viewers can actually SEE, which means the characters should be able to logically see, but yet they don't. I've never seen pitch black stuff portrayed well in a TV show or movie without it being actual pitch black. It always ends up just looking bright enough to see making everyone wonder why their night vision sucks so much. And going literal pitch black for Mirkwood would require having tons of minutes of pitch black, not ideal for a form of media you're supposed to see. I did like Bilbo apparently being affected by the ring. The original book was written before LotR. In fact Tolkein had always intended to go back and rewrite the hobbit with LotR in mind, but died before he did. So I really don't mind linking the two more than before. I did NOT like the love story. It seemed forced and random and that elf like fell in love with the dwarf after he said something about what's in his pants... And Legolas, why the crap are his eyes suddenly so light? And why the ridiculous fighting? Ug.

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...

It's Doctor Who timey wimey wibbly wobbly stuff. They don't even try to make sense which is why it's often confusing, because it makes no sense. :P *spoilers I really didn't like the method of story telling in this one. It was... bad. The hundreds of years he was protecting the planet.. it was told in the terrible old christmas story way which doesn't actually make for good story telling. It "told" everything. Didn't show anything. I really hate that kind of story telling... It just takes away any emotion. I'd compare the Handles d00d to Wilson the volleyball. Wilson doesn't ever talk but you care sooo much more about him. The Doctor was supposed to really get attached to this Handles guy and because it's only SAID that he's attached and NOT shown I don't freakin' care when the thing dies. A volleyball had more emotional investments. Anyways, I'd rate it like 7/10. Not terrible. But more nonsense and crappy storytelling. The 11th's (12 or 13th or whatever he is now :P) early seasons were good but this late stuff was just not nearly as good. Anyways... I really hope change comes to doctor who with the next doctor. Maybe a Doctor who isn't basically just X (XI was just a X variation with his personality). Maybe seasons that don't constantly involve saving the whole universe which is a cheap way to attempt to get people to care, because who wants to see the whole universe destroyed? Especially when it's done so often. I hope for a less perfect doctor. Honestly, I just want a reboot the most now :P. -
I'd rather have a bantha :P.

[Indiana Jones] How to survive an atomic bomb ...
BrickG replied to Dark Imperator's topic in LEGO Licensed
You have converted one of the most ridiculous and stupid things in the Indian Jones movies (all of which are pretty much in that last movie) into Lego. I'm not sure how I feel about this ;p. What's next? The stupid ant or monkey scenes? -
Front propellers are kind of old fashioned and aren't on many planes these days, especially military ones (which Batman's stuff is kind of military). I think it would be odd WITH a propeller. Though this is still a very ugly plane.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 Rumors & Discussion
BrickG replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Either those costumes are from later in season 2 which is highly possible, or they're just other costumes. Ninja Turtles have a way of having strange costumes for their toys that never appear anywhere else. -
LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
BrickG replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
One of the few minifigureless builds I'm somewhat interested in. -
The new Kashyyyk trooper with the deformed head is a good contender for the worst in modern history.
-
Those are the worst and ugliest helmets in a long time. I mean, lots of helmets don't have the eyes line up but this one is just soooo bad. It's like they're helmets for people without a forehead. Someone just lobbed off the trooper's foreheads. I guess we know why they have such horrible aim with the majority of their brains being gone.
-
How the heck would they do Smaug? He's too ridiculously big. If he's minifigure scale he'd be several feet across at least. :)

Those weapons are neat and all but don't solve the problem I have with them. They don't look anything like blasters and are far too thick and stuff.
-
Lately I've not had time to build all my sets so I take out the minifigures and put them in the closet for the future. I've finally become so backlogged that now my latest LotR sets (Dol Gurwhatever and Helms Deep) are in that same closet completely unopened. I might have reached my Lego limit for the time being. Also my probably move from the US to UK is making me wonder how the fudge I'm going to get them over there (and worry about them being lost in shipping!) which is making me kind of mess with my Lego less and less. Plus I've run out of room to display things as even though I make good money and am 28 I still live with my parents (no rent ;p) so I have just one room to use.
-
I like the minifigures. Don't like the weapons.

I swear in 2014 Lego is going exclusively kiddie and are starting to hate collectors. Star Wars and Marvel just got kiddiefied IMO.

My crappy review: First off it's a prequel ship. 1/10 Then it's got just ONE real minifigure. The one you "build" shouldn't count and it sucks. The Federation Droid is just another one of many, does anyone actually like these things? The new one is the only one worth anything and it's just a prequel alien guard d00d that sucks. 1/10 More springloaded crap has no appeal to most AFOLs. 1/10 My incredibly bias review: 1/10. I'd take it for free for parts.
-
I should clarify I meant the new minifigures. Not ones that had been done before. 1st Tier are things like Superman. Instantly identifiable even by non-fans much of the time. 2nd-3rd Tier are usually characters only comic book fans would know (second tier more identifiable). Characters like Luke Cage, Falcon, Taskmaster, Modok are absolutely not identifiable unless you're into the comics or the new cartoon. I'd argue their stories suck more too :P and that some of the first tier characters are made lesser by being unidentifiable to older fans (Green Goblin being freakin' huge, Electro looking completely different). Most of the others aren't really new characters. I'd like a Red Skull and Mary Jane (with it was Gwen).

I guess I'll bricklink about 1/4th of those minifigures. It's really not a good wave IMO. Zero things I actually want to build (but to be fair I've gone super picky with bad models real recently :P). Too much Spiderman. Too many 3rd tier characters which are nice in a way but there are soooo many better choices for minifigures. Idunno maybe these are higher tiered characters these days. I want my 90s Marvel characters :P.
