  1. Quick question, is the black horizontal line really not on one wing but on the other? Or was this a mistake?
  2. It's not that simple people. Lots of factors go into deciding how much of a product should be made in the initial run. Such as cost of actually increasing the numbers and making your factories more capable of keeping up with demand. If you do that you risk having too many factories that can keep up with demand when the demand slows down making you have unneeded costs. Usually the balance for the best cost/profit ratio has the initial release lower than demand (especially for certain types of products which need very specialized and/or expensive factory stuff). Basically I'm saying if they met demand on day 1 that could shoot themselves in the foot down the road which would discourage them from doing sets like this in the future. I'm not saying this IS what happened. Just that there's always a lot more going on behind the scenes in a business than you may think. Why then don't they just do what they do with every Lego set and for the most part make them pretty easily available? If they miscalculated the demand and ended up with too many (because of the above scenario) it would be a much bigger mistake and much more costly simply because the sets are huge. They want to try to MEET demand without going too much above demand. If we remember back to the last UCS Falcon it actually didn't do THAT well financially for them and ended up in stores like Costco oddly.
  3. There's no way in heck you shouldn't count voice actors. I mean yeah, there's other languages. At most you can say the people who voiced them outside of the original language don't count. But that assumes that one role/character can't be owned by multiple people and I don't see why that would be true. You absolutely HAVE to count voice actors if there's a strong link. Chris Pratt is Emmet. Mark Hamill is not the Joker here because none of the Jokers have been based on a Joker he voiced. You can't count ANY Captain America as Chris Pine. And even if the set doesn't make sense for a movie you've gotta count Mandarin in those weird Iron Man 3 sets because it was still based off his character (even if it got his character completely wrong!). This isn't a complex issue. It's a mistake to not count voice actors. But it would also be a mistake to attach them to ANY version of a character. I think people might not like counting voice actors because suddenly you've got people who have LOTS of minifigures. Dan Castellaneta voices six Simpsons characters that are minifigures. Those characters ARE his. It's just arbitrary to NOT count him or his characters. Dee Bradly Baker has like seven. (all this info stolen from an article). It's insane not to count voice actors! If you don't you're just wrong. I guess the hard part is comparing languages then...
  4. That's interesting because I've had discussions with people who aren't into Lego about The Lego Movie and the general thought is that one of the reasons The Lego Movie is so good is because the Lego is completely not important to the story. You could ditch the Lego and it would still be a wonderful story and a very well made movie. I'd say that's a true statement too. LEGO was inextricably unimportant to the overall story and with some clever editing you could have had an amazing movie more akin to Toy Story or something. The big plot things that happened were relatively unique ideas separate from Lego like how they "defeat" Mr. Business. Don't get me wrong. I loved the LEGO parts. I just think ironically LEGO is not all that important to the story at all! :) I think that's a test of a good movie. If you can take it's basic story and implant it in other places, is it still good? Something like Rogue One if you took out the Star Wars ships, Darth Vader, etc... it's an example of a movie that IMO would get almost no attention. Take the Star Wars out of Rogue One and you don't have much. Take the LEGO out of The LEGO Movie and I think you'd still have a lovely and wonderful film.
  5. Consistency in profits. Making profits from a hobby and a passion. It's really easy to understand why people choose Lego out of all of it.
  6. There is no scenario that makes sense with them being free. The Empire at this point basically completely dominates the Rebels according to all other sources. It's canon that there's basically been no victories before this (Rebels already goes against this a lot...). If the Empire lost a planet it would just swarm it with it's far superior forces and install military rule completely. The Rebels are in no position during this time frame to free and hold any planet, or even make a draw happen. They can just continue being rebellious and at most make a planet costly to keep and destabilize the Empire there (though they'd still be in control). But Rebels is stupid. I'm sure they'll do something stupid that makes no sense with previous canon.
  7. VIP accounts aren't region specific. If they have trouble finding your account in their database tell them what country the account originated in and they should find it.
  8. To be fair that sounds like a bank issue. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to verify the payment unless the bank did something weird. I've had a few issues when a bank was being a bit over protective of my accounts. I'd try calling the bank too maybe.
  9. Waiting for new stock can literally mean anything. They might find new stock soon. They might not. It's purposefully vague. The only one it doesn't mean is "out of stock" because while they might temporarily be out you WILL get your Falcon I would think. Anyways I elected to skip it for now. I'm getting TWO later. Hope I can find one before the new years. I'm moving back to the UK from the US in October it seems so it's just not great timing to buy a 25 pound set!
  10. That's not the median anywhere. That's like 150k a year. That's GOOD money lol. Suggesting it's modest is ridiculous.
  11. I've been unable to get their website working. This is probably good. I'm moving countries soon. I'll buy one later.
  12. I don't think £/$600 - £/$700 over a few days is a modest living haha... What is that like already well over £100k a year? That's not modest. That's healthy. That's pretty darned good. :P I've lived poor and I've lived pretty freakin' well off. If I think of what I would have thought when I was poorer... I would have probably thought the same thing when the first MF came out! "I WANT THIS SO BAD BUT I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONIES!". Then I would have lived with it always longing for it... So yeah, I might not like it but I think I'd prefer it existed as a future goal of mine. Now that I have money the only question is "How many do I buy?" Do I scalp some? Gotta have money to make money!
  13. It bothers me that there are just wolves. Just wolves. Yeah, they're big. But they're still just wolves. Star Wars doesn't really show us Earth-like creatures. There's birds that are usually too small to make the details out of. There's references. But everything is pretty alien. The Rebels is like "lets do Dire Wolves from Game of Thrones. YEAH! Wolves are COOL!" ...
  14. Okay what time is the lego store online expected to start selling them?
  15. My local stores are only getting a "few". Sounds like there's a lot of competition unless I want to camp out significantly... They suggest buying it online for a better chance.
  16. Bumping because I bought a small Pokemon set. It was pretty fun. I really wish Lego would do Pokemon now. Just bought a small Magikarp. It's a pretty fun little thing. I think Mega Bloks isn't very good at figures. Their brick's quality is much better than it was years ago, but still not as good at Lego, especially on larger builds where things won't stick together perfectly! But this is a small set and it's pretty fun. I was tempted to get the sets with Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. I'm kind of a sucker for Pokemon. In terms of design I think they're kind of hit and miss. Some of them like Majikarp and Charizard and Gyrados are cool. Some of them are ugly as sin. Heck Pikachu is one of the uglier ones. Bricks just don't seem to fit some of them. But still, Magikarp was a fun little set. I probably won't be buying any more. This one was only like $7 and an impulse buy.
  17. I'll be moving between countries YET AGAIN basically some time after this set goes on sale. I'm not sure what to do. Buy it in the USA? Build it and have fun? But pay tremendous shipping to get it to the UK and be prepared for it to fall apart and have to put it together again! Buy it in the UK? Ship it to my address there before I live there (by about a month +)? It costs more money but I save a lot on shipping but I have to WAIT! Oh the horror! I've decided if I buy two I won't buy the second until after a sale though. I'm more excited for this set than any set previously. :)
  18. I guess I can point out one thing I hate that's gotten worse (out of all the better things). We're in the DARK AGES of PLAYABILITY STUFF! I'm sick of getting those little shootable guns for my stormtroopers. I need the normal blasters. I've actually got to BUY extras now for my little guys from Bricklink. Also I often take off the shootable thingies on Star Wars ships. I don't want to PLAY with Lego. GOSH!
  19. Wait when are those 4 Batmans coming out? Sorry there's so many pages to sort through. I just bought like 70% of the Lego Batman minifigures from places like Bricklink and stuff. They're IMO some of the nicest minifigures ever. They outclass all others! I don't even care about the movie that much. :) Skipped out on the entire sets and saved more than I would have thought.
  20. I love me some minifigure scale models. Give me a minifigure scale ISD and I'll buy the heck out of it. I don't know what they could give us that I would love as much as the Falcon and Slave I. I feel stuffed. Very happy with the current UCS. You know what might be really neat? A section of an Imperial Hangar. I have no idea how many pieces that would be... Maybe it comes with a Tie... random thought of the day. I'm sure it wouldn't happen. I feel like I need to stick the new UCS Falcon in a hangar like in Star Wars IV. :)
  21. So I'm basically quitting Lego for the time being. I've got too much! Selling the stuff I don't want probably... Anyways I'm not quitting minifigures though. (and the rare set like the UCS MF!). I'm trying to buy... lots of them. Buuut it's either hard or expensive. If I use Bricklink I'm not sure how to search for minifigures and their accessories. Like Wonder Woman without the sword and shield? What's the point? And it's too much effort to find everything... Also if I use bricklink I have to buy from like freakin' 10 different stores... pay for shipping so it doesn't take 6 weeks also adds up when it's 10 different stores. I'm basically trying to buy as many Marvel, DC and STar Wars figures as possible... Then there's Amazon... it's SO much easier and the figures like always come with the accessories, plus free shipping. BUT while it's 100x easier than Bricklink it's also about twice as expensive despite the free shipping... Is there a good alternative? I just wanna bulk buy minifigures easily (not Bricklink), and not expensive (not Amazon)...
  22. I think they're getting better honestly. Sets are getting nicer. Minifigures getting better (the Batman movie molds were fantastic). There are still some issues but in general I think what causes a Lego dark age is usually just someone needing a Lego break.
  23. The website has like 9 different sets left and they're all pretty much bad ones. Guess I won't be buying sets on day 2 and 3. :P
  24. Why would you care about being part of history by owning a set? I think of being part of history as being something like a 9/11 responder. Or fighting in a war. Or something a bit more... important/grand than being "part of history" by owning a Lego set ;p. Idunno. I think "hype" works. Wanting to be a part of history is it's own type of "hype". "Hype" can be motivated by tons of different things because obviously people are into ideas (like this set!) for different reasons. I do think it shouldn't be "pathologized" but I don't think that's what he intended either! XD People like and want or dislike and don't want this set for different reasons. While I don't really go for the "history" angle personally, who freakin' cares? What does it matter that people's motivations are different? I'm tired.
  25. Yeaaah I don't see how this sale can last 3 days. Halfway through day 1 and most sets are on backorder.
