  1. I'm getting my hopes up too much because that looks AMAZING and I want LEGO to make sets...
  2. If they did LEGO Doctor Who during the 10th Doctor I think we'd have seen more than one set but the series frankly turned to crap and it's reflected in it's popularity right now.
  3. There only being 2 sets in the next wave was very telling. And they haven't made a Mei or Torb minifigure....
  4. I'm a small business owner and let me tell you, making things the same price across regions is basically impossible for multiple economic reasons almost always due to the local laws of a said country. I bet they're in a position where they cannot reasonably make the prices the same without taking a big hit due to shipping/taxes/market size/whatever. So you can't really fault them there IMO. There are very real and self-imposed (by the countries, not by LEGO) reasons the prices vary wildly and that extends to VIP rewards which could be subject to the same laws.
  5. I think the commercialism of any given good move forward is fine and, though kind of lacking in the legitimacy you'd get from individuals supporting a cause, is still a positive step forward. I don't agree with the general attitude saying "companies should keep these things to themselves or not put in a voice on topics like this". As long as it's a positive move forward, whatever. No if the companies started doing the opposite and announced their hate of LGBQT+ since that's just them being jerks I'd tell them to shut up. I actually think the positive commercialization, again though lacking real heart, is a sign of more acceptance and another step towards a more positive future where everyone, no matter your sexuality, race, creed, etc, is equally heartlessly commercialized. As for the yellow skinned thing. It's from an old idea that colorblindness was good (it's not, and as they discovered with Lando yellow doesn't really work with black people). I think unless the tradition is just that stubborn, eventually I wouldn't be surprised to see the yellow disappear.
  6. I like it if... A) They offer actual LEGO exclusives. The posters and stuff are super lame. I want small LEGO sets or minifigures. B) These said sets/minifigures don't sell out basically immediately. C) These said sets/minfigures aren't absolutely priced. I feel like I should be able to ear a small set or minifigure with a few hundred $$$ of rewards at the most. Preferably less than that. Not like $1000 for one small set. I need something to make me buy from THEM and not Amazon which consistently has much MUCH better prices making the original "5% off every $100" ridiculously bad. Why do that when I can so often gets sets for like 33% off from Amazon like ALL THE TIME?
  7. That's an almost to me. It's got too much of the "fro curls" or whatever. If it was just flat I think it could work. I think LEGO is long overdue for a really short hairstyle.
  8. The Joker doesn't need a known origin story. I know some comics have him have a proper one, others don't. I prefer it being left a mystery and much like the interpretation where his story just changes a lot (like in the movie) and you just can't trust what's true and what's not.
  9. I enjoyed season 3 a lot. Wouldn't mind another set. El's minifigure is kind of bad IMO (basically the hair, with no clear substitute since Lego's "shaved close" hair doesn't seem to exist. Maybe with season 3 designs where she's got actual hair that might be doable.
  10. This is a dumb change. Plain and simple. They need to get their heads out of their butts.
  11. I think this is actually kind of a separate issue. That's a matter of opinion when it comes to the style LEGO minifigures are. Some people prefer the older styles that is more... "LEGO"y and some the newer ones (for the more modern battle, see Toy Story :P). Either way you look at it, poor grey'd out printing is bad. Some are less debatable than others and IMO just disconnected from the separate style issue. I think there's an objectively discussable quality issue that's a bit separate. Printing, unique molds, etc.
  12. LEGO has a habit of introducing new amazing minifigure features. From new hairpieces to tools to prints. However, I find myself kind of wishing they'd... stop. Unless they're able to put that new standard into practice for all future minifigures necessary. Lets take the hairpiece/hat combinations they adopted in recent years (not sure actually about the timing). LEGO was previously seemingly avoiding making hats that also had hair, probably because that limits the use of those hats to people who already have a specific hairstyle. Instead they went with the "bald" look whenever someone had a hat on, with printing on the face to show some hints of hair. This worked because... well, it didn't make much sense but it worked. It was iconic. It was just a thing that happened with LEGO and that was fine. Then they added pieces that were the hair/hat combinations. Like with Emmet or Gale from the LEGO movie. Let me say that these look AWESOME. The uses are limited (especially gale's) because of the hairstyles, but they're still great. However, this introduced a new standard. Now every time a minifigure who is a recognizable to me comes with a "bald" style hat it feels like the hair is missing. I look at Jim Hopper in the new LEGO Stranger Things set (which is AMAZING) and I see his bald style hat. It would have been great previously but we've upped the standards and expectations now. Right now he doesn't look all that hot to me. He really needs his hair with that hat IMO. The same kind of stuff can be said about other "newer" minifigure features. When I get a minifigure that clearly would benefit from having a double colored mold for the arm or legs I feel it (especially if they printed on a pattern that would be better dual molded). The minifigure feels like it's lacking. When there's some arm printing that really should be there I feel it. When a minifigure is using a mold it shouldn't really use when compared to others (like the Wasp Minifigure... and her horrible helmet, compared to the others) it really feels like there's a larger difference in quality. When the printing quality leaves a character looking "grey" compared to minifigures from years ago (looking at you Mercy and Buzz Lightyear) it feels cheap. Whatever your opinion on the Star Wars helmets, it's odd that it's such a mix between the old style ones with the printed visor and the new style one where the visor is part of the helmet... All of these beneficial properties that LEGO makes to the minifigures really does help them feel amazing. The Dustin from the Stranger Things set looks and feels AMAZING. The Hopper and a few others just feel like the effort given to them was much much smaller. It's the difference between a 3 star and a 5 star minifigure. I'm aware this is almost certainly a cost issue. You can't give every single Stranger Things character a new head/hair whatever mold without making the set more expensive. LEGO is a business and LEGO is already an expensive hobby and making every minifigure 5 star would just increase the costs. However, the variable quality is REALLY noticeable. And increasingly so with each new amazing upgrade minifigures get because they just don't apply it universally. And until they can keep to the new standards people like me will complain when something doesn't use those new standards. I'm a minifigure man. I rarely get time to build but I still collect minifigures. But I've gone as far as to simply not display some (like the Wasp) for being sub-par in quality. And it's really one of my passions, which means I'm a bit touchy when it comes to this stuff ;). I just love them so much I want to see them all 5-star lol.
  13. They're not subtle about violence. You see people get torn apart and killed pretty viciously. Sex stuff? Yeah... LEGO GoT in 2078!
  14. I think Lego through it's future history will continue a trend upwards of accepting more and more adult themes. They'll probably never go full adult crazy. But I'd like to imagine a LEGO of the future that could do themes like Game of Thrones ;). I'm tempted by this set...
  15. This experiment wasn't needed. Trolls are probably the worst thing create by mankind. The only good that might come of it is a new hairpiece, that if anime looking enough can be used for DBZ characters. :P
  16. There's a possible LEGO TROLLS coming? Is this true? Take the worst and ugliest and worst fad of the 80s and 90s and bring it to the future... I guess they had that CGI movie I'm vaguely aware of?
  17. I hate play features. Even when I was a kid I hated them. I hope they go away entirely. Stud shooters instead of proper blasters is ridiculous. But I was never a kid that "played" with action figures like you see on TV. Do people do that? I'd use them to inspire my imagination and was a regular muppet baby and would act things out (still do sometimes shhhh).
  18. I trash them. Back when I lived in America I could get away with keeping the instructions and boxes. In my London house I can't keep that much so I condense the LEGO collection as much as I can. Only way to do that is through bins.
  19. I don't agree that these minifigures are bad. They're just a different style. More traditional LEGO which is good enough for me. I think they've been going back towards traditional LEGO more and more and we'll see less custom molds. I might be getting some of these minifigures. I'm not that big into Toy Story but I appreciate it (just like how I'm not big into Disney but have the Disney figs on display).
  20. It's mainly due to the weird proportions of Lego characters. Really, just imagine every minifigure is max 4 feet tall, but as wide as someone 7 feet tall and bulky. It's why cars which people are generally taller than have to be taller than the LEGO minifigures in general. You can't build stuff while using the minfigure height because then the width would never work when trying to sit them down in spaces they should fit in.
  21. Did you just say "ST" as in "Star Trek"?
  22. That doesn't really count. New fabric patterns are a lot cheaper than new regular lego parts.
  23. There's a serious plot hole here and that is that if these two movies never happened (LEGO characters that is) then the writing is too good for it to be coming from this kid's mind. Therefore it must happen in some form, maybe through a parallel universe tied to the consciousness of people where actions from one affect the other but neither universe every notices.
  24. Very good movie. Worthy successor unlike the more mediocre LEGO Batman and the Ninjago one. My only complaint is WHERE ARE MY RUTH BADER GINSBURG and BRUCE WILLIS minifigures?! Also is there a thread pointing out all the (significant) minifigures we saw but don't have? Like the fox suit guy.
