  1. Season 2 is quite good so far. 4.5/5 stars. I think they're going TOO heavy on the technobabble. I understand they're trying to be more classic Star Trek and bring in elements that feel more Star Trek. But it's kind of a bit much atm. I'm not sick of it yet but this can get old fast I think. It's like by the time Voyager came out it used so much technobabble it was ridiculous and everyone was sick of it. It's just been so long since Voyager that people forgot! I'm hoping they reel some of it in. Not all of it though. Also I'm kind of sick of the plots of EVERYTHING WILL BE DESTROYED/THREATEN THE WHOLE GALAXY. You can have well written stories that don't affect the whole universe. So far it seems to be going towards a galaxy threat again. Also the Spore Drive is still kind of lame. In the latest episode they kind of explain WHY they probably won't use it anymore. However, in season 1 we found out it's absurdly easy to accidentally destroy that whole spore universe place, and if you do EVERYTHING dies apparently. So nobody else in the whole universe discovered this technology and abused it? I don't buy it. Easier to complain than praise. I'm enjoying it a lot though.
  2. I don't think we'll see a move on Doctor Who by LEGO. Don't think it did well enough and Doctor Who has sucked for some years now. Some years back closer to the 9th and 10th Doctor it was in a revitalizing wave and had TONS of merch everywhere. But that seems to be over. Opinion of the current state of the show aside, the franchise is factually in a ditch right now and hasn't been as big for a while. Nowhere near as big. You used to see (in the UK) toy stores and nerd stores FILLED with Doctor Who stuff but it's just not true anymore. And even IF it were still as popular I don't think it had the international appeal required for a LEGO franchise to do really well. Doctor Who has always had a small fraction of the following outside of the UK (and I say that as someone who watched it in the US when I was a kid). I'd love a collection of all the Doctor Minifigures. But at this point, it's not going to happen.
  3. It's just the Lego version. The Disney version is wrong as heck from the books. I don't mind this interpretation at all. I'm 100% getting them.
  4. We FINALLY get a new Rebel Fleet Trooper. Can't wait until there's enough on Bricklink to warrent buying a small army. I hope LEGO's future sets have more of this guy. The set he's in is quite hideous. That Tie Fighter is TERRIBLE.
  5. Looks like a good and solid series. I wish I liked Harry Potter more. The main reason these are tempting are the medium legs and some of the animals for me (why don't they make a snake that can go on studs?). I might have to get some of the main characters but my liking of Harry Potter is limited (like the movies, don't love them or anything, read only the first book). In terms of quality, I don't think any series has reached the quality of the Batman Movie minifigures but these are more than good enough.
  6. I'm kind of fearful the awesome new medium legs will be a "sometimes" thing which makes no sense to me. It's like the Star Wars helmets with the actual molded visors vs the printed on the face visors. PICK ONE!!! I think all short legs should become Medium Legs, and ideally one day we'd have a medium torso too (with medium arms) so could get basically as short as the minifigures with short legs. Anyways, if these medium legs stick around it would be awesome. It's truly annoying how SOME of them have them though and SOME don't. I hope these become the norm.
  7. Absolutely. I can understand this. They invested a lot of $$$ into that movie. It makes sense that it was "special" and circumstantial. However, I don't see why they'd go BACK from some of the fantastic designs they already have minifigure wise. I can see why model quality would be a bit lacking though. I imagined they invested a lot into those sets because they were made to be on-screen awesome as possible too.
  8. I'm not saying that they shouldn't do new stuff. Just that the movie stuff was considerably higher quality. If these new ones were of equal quality I'd be all for it.
  9. I wish I liked Voltron at all. This is a nice looking set.
  10. It's a shame that it seems future sets aren't Lego Batman Movie sets. Only because the Lego Batman movie figures are soooo good. That old style poison ivy has nothing on the movie version... Really, these minifigures are lame minus the dual molded legs. :P
  11. Why the crap are LEGO still making the old helmets without the visor (instead it being printed on the face)? They're still mixing them. It's soooo annoying. PICK ONE!!!
  12. I saw Solo. It was... okay. I'm glad it wasn't disastrous and terrible like the prequels and episode 8. After Episode 8 was so bad it was almost refreshing to have an average Star Wars movie... which is kind of sad...
  13. I once again have zero interest in anything but the dinosaurs here. The builds are kind of boring. I'll be Bricklinking the dinos at some point.
  14. That's real nice. Are those arms those little tools? I might go back to mine and try to make it more pure (maybe not breaking a few pieces :P). But much of my collection is either in storage or in another country right now... Funnily enough I had one of the best times with Lego just making this little guy. I wanna build more droids. I honestly think I hacked it a bit. I was experimenting and chopped a few pieces due to my lack of specific other pieces. It's pure Lego (even the string!), just some bits are chopped lol.
  15. I'm not sure what the dictionary rules are about trademarks (I think you wouldn't find that in a printed dictionary but I might be wrong) but still the dictionary example you gave says "legos" lol.
  16. The LEGO Group doesn't have any say in language. Literally zero. Culture and societies have a say in language. They can promote something as being the plural for a word that they originated but have no real control over it. That's what the generic trademarks are all about actually. That's why LEGO fights against this. Because they have no control over the language, only potentially influence. If more than the USA started calling it "Legos" enough to erode their rights to the term (their fear) then BAM, legally even then it's gone out of their hands. Heck, it's out of their hands right now but they CAN try to push against it with their influence. But the laws illustrate that language is controlled by the people, not the companies. And the companies can lose any rights to influence even if the people decide something is "right". Like Kleenex or Velcro. This shows already that the LEGO Group doesn't actually have any real right or power to enforce language or control the language used with their products, only the influence to try to make it not go too much in a bad way for them (Legos being a bad way for them since it would threaten their very name!). And again, language wise, despite some protests, there's no rules against it. Yeah you can't say "sheeps" and have it be correct BUT that's a word in the dictionary. LEGO is not. Therefore it has different rules that apply and there's nothing that says you can't pluralize brand names or apply those brand names to any element within the brand. Heck, it doesn't even have to be in the same brand. You can technically look at some Mega Bloks and say "look at all those legos" and while it's not the same brand and not technically correct in that way, it's STILL correct English. You could call a collection of car parts "Legos" and it would still be technically correct English. But of course LEGO doesn't want that... It's good to know I'm not alone in knowing the facts here XD.
  17. People complaining about people saying Legos. It's grammatically correct. You can pluralize brand names. If you have 10 NES consoles and it's not incorrect to say you have "ten Nintendos". You can have a pile of Ford trucks and cars and stuff and you can technically say "you have a pile of Fords". There's no rule in the English language that says you can't. It, at most, can sound a bit awkward. But it's not technically incorrect... LEGO's motivation here is to simply protect their brand. I can find no fault in that. But everyone (including LEGO) has some incorrect ideas here. No English teacher could mark you down for writing "LEGOs" in a paper because there are zero rules that actually say it's wrong. I've had this discussion a thousand times though but it always turns into a debate when there's nothing to debate. There's fact and there's mistruths. Saying it's incorrect to say "LEGOs" is factually incorrect. You can at most say there's a preferred way to say it (pushed by brand protection motivations).
  18. That absolutely proves nothing. If Lego based what franchises they did on this forum I'm not sure how good they'd do. :P
  19. I'm honestly not sure Harry Potter will sell well enough after a couple of waves to justify more and more waves. I kind of see it as having a similar problem to lord of the rings. Great movies but maybe not enough to justify wave after wave because they're not too recent. And the newer Newt movies might be too "old" to sell as many toys. I could be wrong. I know it will have MORE staying power than the LotR line. The question is, how much.
  20. At the end of the day what matters is if you like it or not and about half the people don't like this movie. I consider that a failure. It's more divisive than Rogue One. It's the most controversial Star Wars since the prequels. It's getting a lot of hate and a lot of love. Rain FAILED to make a movie that is widely accepted by both critics and the fanbase. That's just a fact. The wide appeal was lost. If you think TLJ was better than TFA, well I'm not going to argue with you. You're entitled to an opinion. But the FACT of the matter is this movie failed when it comes to being loved by (generally) all people compared to the other Star Wars movies that aren't the prequels. And if it failed at that even if you love TLJ you've gotta ask yourself if they did something wrong to piss off so many people and have so many people just actively dislike the movie. They gambled with a new strategy and it did NOT pan out. The details of the movie aren't super important. We can argue why X and Y sucked or didn't. We can compare the movies endlessly. Opinions are opinions. But facts are facts and this movie is just not getting the love that IV, V, VI, or VII did.
  21. I have no idea how anyone can make the claim that there aren't many superfluous scenes. Like half of the scenes were superfluous. The script sucked. So many useless scenes. So much failed humor.
  22. It wasn't a flash. He basically pointed a gun at him. "My nephew is so potentially evil in the future I'm going to point a gun at him and then change my mind" Replace the saber with the gun and you've got someone who needs to go to jail. It wasn't JUST a thought or Flash. He freakin' pulled his saber out and ignited it in order to KILL HIM even if he changed his mind.
  23. But honestly that's all bullcrap. There's no way a single ship is SOOO important. It doesn't make sense with any logic or math. Heck, they were running away and ships were dropping. Why not do that at the beginning? There's no way any single medium or even large size ship is more important than destroying an entire fleet! Heck why does ANY battle not have them doing this? They should do this in every battle. Imagine if those bombers at the beginning didn't... Just fly up and mostly die. Imagine if one simply light speeded into the bridge. They could take out that Dreadnaught or ANY ship with a single much smaller ship! There is no way the resources are THAT sacred especially when they loose a lot more in traditional combat. They should just be sending in kamekazi ships and saving lives. A New Hope: Rebel ship launches escape pods with people and the droids. Lightspeed into the Star Destroyer. Saves tons of lives. Saves the crew who would have all died except for Leia and R2 and 3PO. Empire: Lightspeed an X-Wing into those AT-ATs. Lightspeed a transport or two into the Star Destroyers (there were a lot of transports). So many losses could have been avoided. RotJ: Honestly Darth Vader would be dead by now because you've lightspeed killed him. Just lightspeed an A-Wing into the Emperor. Send the Empire into dissaray with 1/100 the resources lost. Install new government and lightspeed any Sith or Sith-like Snokeish characters. You cannot possibly say correctly that the ships are such valuable resources they don't want to destroy them in suicide attacks because clearly if they'd just do that strategy sooner they'd have a lot more resources left. Imagine if Holdo rammed the fleet at the beginning. Resistance would be in a much better position and with other ships left!
  24. X-Men don't fit in the current universe at all. Heck, they didn't fit in the same universe in the comics. Why there's a whole theme of racism but in the same universe people don't have the same issue with other powered, non-mutant beings just makes no sense. Plus this universe is already overstuffed. Keep it simple. I think the FF might be able to fit (especially Galactus if they can get the rights he'd be a great next big baddie) but not the X-Men at all.
  25. *spoilers* Using lightspeed to ram ships. THere is no logical reason why both sides don't use this tactic. They could build small, personless ships and just ram other ships and decimate whole fleets. It's ridiculous. Why did they do that at the start? Why don't they do it ever again? :/
