  1. This is amazing. It hardly looks like a Lego model.
  2. Very cool. I saw it on The Lego Car Blog earlier today.
  3. Very cool. One of these days I'm going to have to build a 1:8 scale Technic supercar myself. Looks like a fun project.
  4. Thanks for all the compliments. I'm glad you all enjoy it. It's hollow, actually. The way it's designed, such as with the grill being built sideways, it didn't allow much room for an engine and I couldn't get hinges put in. But I'd like to revisit this project one day and include an opening hood with an engine. That would be cool. But I think I can squeeze all PF functions in this scale... possibly... I'll probably try one of these days. It fits, but the color difference make it look odd. That's cool. I may do Mach II Red Bird Rig and Whirl and Wheel Super Truck myself. I'd also like to build a van in the Model Team style. I recently realized Custom Rally Van, Magic Flash, and Big Foot 4 x 4 all have the same body more or less. I'd do something based on that, but in an entirely new way. Approximate part count? It's tough to estimate. Maybe in the 750 to 800 range?
  5. Here's a project I've wanted to do for a long time. It's a modern redesign of the classic Model Team set Highway Rig (5580). It was released in 1986 and was the biggest of the three original sets in the Model Team series. The thirty year anniversary is coming up soon and I think this would be a fantastic new model based on the original. Unfortunately, however, it would be against Cuusoo's rules to submit it. Practically every AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego) will remember the original set. Many of them either had it or wanted it.
  6. Fantastic work. Looks like a fun project to build.
  7. I completely rebuilt mine from the ground up into a lowrider pickup. I also wanted to add steering, but couldn't get it all to fit being so low. I think with the original ride height it shouldn't be too difficult. As far as suspension, take a look at Mini Off-Roader 42001. It's tiny and has functional suspension using rubber bands. You might be able to incorporate a similar concept into your design somehow.
  8. I think it's fantastic. Welcome to Eurobricks!
  9. That's cool. Is there a GoPro mount for Lego you can buy, or did you rig up something yourself?
  10. I do structural engineering work for a living. Basically, what you have is a column, beam, and brace, that creates a cantilevered frame. The strongest version depends on where to load is applied. Without really knowing the final version of your design, or how the column is being supported, I'd say attach the end of the brace to the beam closest to the center of the load. If the load is closer towards the end of the beam, you want the blue version. If it's closer to the center, red. That said, there isn't that much strength difference between the two versions. It's likely that either would work well for your application.
  11. Ha! Yeah, I am. I didn't notice until after I had taken pictures and was looking through them. Don't know how I managed that...
  12. Pretty cool. Quite nice and huge for your first MOC as an AFOL.
  13. Thanks for the compliments! Oh, well that's why I couldn't figure it out. I noticed the three dots. But nothing happens when I click there. The design is broken. At least, on my computer it is. The scroll bar doesn't work most of the time and there are other icons that don't seem to do anything. Thanks for letting me know though.
  14. That's a fun build. I'm going to have to buy one of those buggy motors.
  15. Here's a custom semi-truck with lowboy trailer, a heavy construction equipment transporter, inspired by classic Model Team sets 5580, 5590, and 5591, and built in the style of Highway Pickup, Lego Creator set 7347. The truck has functional steering (the spare tire is actually the steering wheel, similar to Model Team 5580) and opening doors. The trailer detaches and has ramps, just like the real thing, and also has extenders on each side to widen the trailer for wider loads. I actually had the idea to build this for last year's Triple Build Contest. But I didn't have the time, nor the bricks, to get it done. I probably ended up with over 500 pieces each anyway, so I probably wouldn't have qualified. Either way, no big deal. It was a fun build and I'm happy with the result. Hope you enjoy. Also, I'm not sure how much interest there would be, but this is my 4th Cuusoo project: lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/62214 Here's my flickr page: https://www.flickr.com/photos/drdesignz/?details=1 Does anybody know how to select different sizes, like you could previously? I spent forever trying to figure out how to find the 640 pixels wide version of my pictures, to be able to link them here like I've always done before. I had to figure out another method instead, since I couldn't figure out how to do it with Ipernity either and MOC Pages only allows nine images (plus the quality is degraded considerably). I don't know what's been happening with flickr, but it's turning into garbage. I hate it so much. Also, it looks like they're forcing me to log in with a Yahoo account, which I don't have, instead of Google. I don't know if I'm going to keep posting there. The only reason I've stuck around since the changes nearly a year ago is because of all the AFOLs there. The community is huge. I used to spend at least a little bit of time every day there. Now it might be once a month, if that. It sucks.
  16. Very nice. You got published by The Lego Car Blog too, which is pretty cool.
  17. Awesome designs! Very hard to choose... 4 : 1 5 : 1 7 : 1 9 : 1 10 : 1 11 : 1 14 : 1 22 : 1 23 : 1 31 : 1
  18. Thanks! Yes and no... the springs are too stiff for the weight of the truck. You have to push pretty hard to get it to compress.
  19. It's very cool. I saw it on The Lego Car Blog earlier.
  20. Here's a crazy monster truck I just finished. It's an unrealistic, extreme design. But it was fun to do. I wanted to put together a set for the Triple Build Contest. I was inspired by all the recent monster truck Lego models and was going to build a transporter, like the City set 60027. But it became too big. I have no doubt it's well over 500 pieces. Even if it wasn't, I'm sure the tractor trailer would have been enormous. I'm not going to have enough time to build something new for the contest, so I'll just have to sit this one out. No big deal though. I'm enjoying seeing the entries so far. This truck has functional four wheel steering. The driveshafts are actually used for the steering mechanism. The body comes off in one piece, as seen in the last picture. I think it would be easy to convert to another body style, like a jeep, or even just a tube frame without a body. I originally built a hood, but decided the truck looked better with the exposed engine bay.
  21. That's really cool. Too bad there aren't more options for that rear tire. I could use a good drag radial myself.
  22. Thanks for the compliments! Not so much, I admit. It's tight. But not too tight. The wheels still turn, pushing the car on a surface. It probably should have been built one plate higher. Thanks much! I don't have one of just the engine by itself. This is the best view I could find:
