  1. There's no official white lightbrick, but it should be easy enough to swap the amber LED with a white 3mm one. No need to (de)solder anything; just snip and bend the legs into the same shape as the old one. Alternatively, LifeLites sell a range of different coloured "BrickLites", but their dimensions are different.
  2. Maybe that has something to do with it. A review of the price, rather than the product itself, is not helpful to others in deciding if it is a good product.
  3. I just noticed that any old links to lego.cuusoo.com now redirect to "cuusoo-brick". So if you have any old projects which migrated to the new site, using the old link will no longer redirect to the the new project page. If this isn't accidental, then it's a pretty nasty trick.
  4. There's a red chest freezer sort of thing at the left of the model, which I assume is supposed to be full of ice cream. The three little "treats" inside don't make a connection with anything - it's all grouped in case anything needs to be moved. LDD might claim that the 63965 used for the lamp-post got removed, because it's apparently not supposed to go too far through a 4740 which is sitting on top of a 87580. 5. Just finished 30283, 30284, 30285, 31034, 31035, 31036, 40120, 40140 & 40148. They will be uploaded after a nap because I am now very knackered, and the error reports for all these are going to KILL ME.
  6. This is why I make detailed error reports to explain why (and on what parts) I made a replacement. Reading these reports by other builders formed part of my own experience.
  7. Oh definitely. I bought extras of those small Creator sets because my nieces enjoy building them so much. The extras were needed because the "quiet" one likes to wait and see what the "bossy" one wants to build, then she wants to do the same thing and throws a wobbly when she can't. Hah! Foiled! *twirls brick-built moustache* EDIT: Whoops read that a bit wrong, didn't I. Well, I have load of Friends' animals polybags and I am NOT ASHAMED (the nieces don't get to mess with these). I'd have more of the sets for the ace colour range if not for being into far too may other money-draining things.
  8. Yah, it's not really intuitive though, and it actualty pisses me off how quickly the servo motor can re-centre compared to how slowly it turns via speed remote control. I'm looking forward to getting the "regular" controller more than ever, since quick "nudge" control for steering is more important than "fine" control.
  9. It will be at least a week until I can get a regular IR remote to test how both controllers act, but I'll be sure to report here when I can, unless another enterprising builder can find some answers first. Also, I am pretty impressed with the Rechargeable battery box. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that it can still feed devices that are connected to an IR receiver even when the "speed dial" is in the "neutral" position, but I had some LED lights connected directly to the box, and noticed variable brightness depending on how far I turned the dial. Learning the quirks of the different configurations and control methods of PF seems to be pretty fun in itself.
  10. Ooo this makes some sense. Admittedly though, I have had some technical hiccups when something didn't respond - and it was because a plug stack came loose from the IR receiver. The designers move in mysterious ways.
  11. HAH, I wish I'd looked at this thread before buying a Speed Remote to control a vehicle chassis. As mentioned above, the response time is much too slow for quick actions (such as steering in the opposite direction, especially with a servo motor*), but... it's got me thinking. Could I have a regular IR remote AND a Speed Remote on the same channel without interference - for example, using the regular IR remote to control steering, and the speed remote to keep the vehicle at a slow crawl when needed? I fully support this suggestion! * EDIT: Also, using the Speed Controller with a Servo Motor sort of defeats the nifty auto-centre thing it does, but oh well. I learn the hard way.
  12. All of the dark bley plugs I have feature this little "lip", but the light bley plug on the extension cables does not. Without some of the older plugs to compare, I can't say if this makes them easier to pry apart (I use two brick separators due to concerns about damaging them), but... ...this does seem to be a likely reason for the change.
  13. I'd say the RAM is a big bottleneck here. According to Windows Task Manager, LDD uses around 388MB on startup, though this drops to 350MB soon after (I use the "ShowStartHelp=no" option in preferences.ini). Working on a model only makes that rise, Though. I've seen it eat up nearly 800MB at times. 8GB RAM is pretty inexpensive these days, and you'd be amazed how much faster your pooter will be with more space to run about.
  14. "Dekotora", or DECOrated TRUck, is a type of cab-over-engine commercial truck with outrageous customisations. I'm not sure what the actual purpose is, besides showing off and having loads of fun doing it. I don't know why, but that croissant on the grille is the funniest thing ever. I'd love to see this all chromed and lit up with lifelites!
  15. Friendly reminder that there are still some sets wot need to be chronicled, namely: 42033, 42034, 60065 and 60075. See here for shortcuts to the PDFs. I won't do these because they're outside my field of interest, so have at them. (Last one might be tricky though, what with claw parts that might not be available and such)
  16. A quick way to do this would be by using LDD's brick palette feature. First, have a look for the set you want to MOC from in the Official LEGO Sets made in LDD thread. Then take a look at step 1 in this thread to find out where to place the downloaded LXF. Next time LDD is started, the LXF should be available as a custom brick palette. This is a pretty nifty and time-saving feature. Have fun!
  17. I enjoy that toaster. All these neat little things almost make up for the Story Mixer never being released. Almost.
  18. Wagh, I'm afraid you'll need to download it again, because I realised that the check is actually redundant (no need to get external XML from anywhere), so I removed the whole function and just replaced it with a single, efficent line. $dat = xml_to_arr ($data_xml); Got replaced with $dat = json_decode (json_encode (simplexml_load_string ($data_xml) ), true); Since that was really the only purpose of the function, anyway. I just used something from my own little code library, but forgot to remove the unnecessary stuff D:
  19. ! I forgot to make a "nudge" post when I updated the OP. As well as a fix for the above issue, there's a new download link (on my OWN SITE!) which should never accidentally expire.
  20. Here's an upcoming promotional set for Lufthansa. It's quite a nice little thing, and the included stand (as well as the fact that the MINI Mini Cooper is already there) makes me believe that this fits into the "Sculptures" theme. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 40146 - Aircraft [Promo] - theme: Sculptures Errors: No stickers - Used a suitable print for the Captain's torso LXF (LDD 4.3.8)
  21. My wallet's knackered just from my Creator obsession in 2014, so I hope there'll be one of these waiting for me in the new year; because this is a proper idea thing, and it needs my love.
  22. Instructions are available (the build you mentioned is not one of the three, so it seems like we are perhaps looking at a LEGO Club exclusive build here). There are some spectacular "D" models in the Creator theme, but lately there has been a somewhat boring period for those, so I hope we'll see some more great stuff. ALSO: if anyone has the latest LDD installed and would like to look at some of the new things, I spent farTooMuchTime on these.
  23. A whole load of 2015 instructions appeared recently. I did the things that interest me. The 3176s get pushed up by a small amount, but this amount is enough to make the 87079 (Flat Tile 2x4) get removed each time I reloaded the model. The 6562s have been moved up to prevent this. 24. It's a shame that the collision errors between 64567 and 2555 (and variants) persist (see here for a minor example of this error), but I'm glad to see that 47753 has been fixed. Patiently waiting for some good news about the deluge of new bits that will make me build some real things in 2015!
  25. Betteridge's Law strikes again! Also, I know it was a different article, but this very concern was also discussed here. That article spurred a mini-series of analytical writeups, which I thought were very good reads. So it's a bit irksome to see another piece of clickbait cherrypicking from one such writeup for the sake of supporting the "specialised parts" argument, while showing disregard for the rest of the research.
