The legs would also have been a good addition for making fleshie Roman or Greek soldiers, if only they had been done in light flesh instead. The shield is way too cartoonish for me, I guess it is meant to be Zeus's lightning bolt from the sky. Something plainer would have been good for an army builder but I guess it is related to the source material.

The disappearance of the mid-range sets
MAB replied to astral brick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There are many similar models at similar sizes across most themes with great playability. For example: 132 pieces 150 pieces 148 pieces All can be taken apart and rebuilt / redesigned, but no ideas are given these days as to what else they can be built into. I agree with above though, many kids just want to build the model and keep it complete. -
LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
MAB replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yeah, and that figure shows why some characters actually work better as minidolls than minifigures. But many AFOLs will hold on to the idea that minidolls are the work of the Devil and not proper figures and should not exist.- 961 replies

If you use a thin strip of double sided tape in the corners, they are relatively easy to remove again if that type of thing worries you.

How to make the bottom of plates/bricks look nice ??
MAB replied to Carsten Svendsen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You can use inverted tiles, but there are still not many available as yet. Regular dusting or careful vacuuming would probably help too. Especially as upside down there are more holes for it to collect in. -
LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion

Why not? After all, The Simpsons did SLH and Snowball 2 that way.- 961 replies

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
MAB replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
If they were triple molded, then the top of the foot would also be white. I doubt they could accurately get an infinitely thin layer of black on the top of the foot as shown in that picture. Apparently all future series are using bigger bags as lego is doing this in-house now.- 961 replies

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
MAB replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
They look like the new skirt pieces to me. Overall, an excellent series for me. I think better than Series 1. Me too. And the hardcore Disney fans can still overpay for the Ideas model.- 961 replies

Another alternative is to glue or double sided tape the baseplate to a flat board.

Yeah, nothing new. I've done this on important stickers for years. LEGO recommends a little window cleaner spray, but same idea - the surfactant lets the sticker slide until you are happy with it. https://www.lego.com/en-AU/service/help-topics/fun-for-fans/behind-the-scenes/brick-facts/apply-decals

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I doubt B&P orders factor into their decision making. I imagine they are an incredibly tiny fraction of their global sales for sets. -
You are probably better off selling just three figures rather than three figures and a box. If you do sell the boxes, make sure you protect them well as those blister packs damage really easily if any pressure is put on them, like in a stack of mail. You will probably need to use boxes for postage, rather than bubble mailers.

Personally, I don't see the point of it. It will always be out of date compared to the internet. Unless it gets some very high profile interviews or content that is not available elsewhere, I doubt it will survive. They have done well to get into WHS in the UK, at least they may get sales because of that. They are up to issue 3 already, issues 1 and 2 were only internet available ones. Again, that might not help sales - if I missed 1 and 2, why bother starting at 3?

What is the single rarest and/or most expensive LEGO piece?
MAB replied to RunnersDad's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have seen various estimates of how many there are. The one on BL right now claims 60-80 were made. In the past others have guessed at 400-500. Plus this wasn't ever released, in the sense of being sold as part of a set or at a BAM station by LEGO. -
Buildable figures from mainly system parts - especially ones using Mixel style joints - might be very popular with both figure builders and regular / system builders. Even more so if this means they introduce the towball parts in more useful colours such for flesh. They would also be much more easily customised.

They don't show "adult issues" in The Big Bang Theory LEGO set. They don't show incest in the BTTF LEGO sets. If they only restricted themselves to IPs where there was nothing that is unsuitable for minors, then we'd probably be stuck with only things like Teletubbies, Dora the Explorer and Thomas the Tank Engine. Although even in those properties, people would complain about gay issues (Teletubbies), gender stereotyping and body image issues (Dora) and body size and gender issues (Thomas).

LEGO CEO suggests Chinese inspired sets
MAB replied to ArneNielsen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
A lot of the more interesting molded parts came from China, from both normal sets and CMF, before LEGO had its own factory too. -
That story comes up a lot in the UK news. For example, BBC July 2014 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-28367198, BBC Jan 2015 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-28582621, it appeared in many newspapers in 2017 on the 20th anniversary, such as https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/lego-lost-sea-cornwall-beaches-854996. I haven't a clue why The Mirror resurrected it in 2019 though. Maybe it is a standby story for slow news days.

I imagine it is more down to him wanting a too big slice of the revenue if he is a minifigure than because of the audience being young children. But I doubt that is an allowed answer to a tweet. LEGO get round all of that by not showing sex references, or not showing minifigures with gunshot wounds or being eaten by dinosaurs. So long as they show sanitized type vignettes, there seems not to be a problem. That is why it is a shame they didn't do the same with The Simpsons. They could have done Barney and Moe in Pin-Pals outfits, or Barney as an astronaut or Plow King.

What do you do with your old instructions?
MAB replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Most modern ones are on LEGO.com -
I wonder if LEGO would ever do something that wonky / unaligned/ whatever you want to call it. I know the Old Fishing Store had a few tiles not quite aligned and especially some random alignment of tiles on the roof, but was still pretty much a straight up and down build otherwise.

^ I believe he meant that Knights Kingdom (esp. KK2) was cartoonish, and 2013 Castle was out at the same time as LOTR. Although I got confused when I first read it, thinking he meant 2013 was cartoonish too.
