  1. That's right, long live King Fernando! Also, that really is a lot of gold
  2. Quite simple, but I love how good this looks! Such a great scene.
  3. That is soo good!!! I have to agree with Captain Dee though, not near enough gold - this is Eslandola! I approve the monkey though. And the tulips.
  4. A very pretty bridge (and a very long one!), and an unexpectedly tragic turn to the story! The chaotic rockwork and those trees look superb as well, and I'm glad you took the extra time to add that interior Looking forward to seeing that outlaw band and the castle at full scale too!
  5. Never underestimate a mere sailor (especially when that sailor is a monkey )! Things are starting to look up for the Marquis - the new one, I mean Great continuation of the story, I definitely laughed once I guessed where the Marquis got his signature wig from!
  6. This is awesome (giant bookshelves always are! ), you really managed to get a lot of books into a pretty small place! The bay window and that roof are really nice as well, and I'm intrigued by your choice of including a cellar - definitely not something I would have thought of, but it looks great!
  7. Ah nice, thank you! I think I may have asked somewhere beforeI - I think it's been used in GoH - I'll have to make a note of it this time!
  8. Excellent job, guys (I did read it all, Navarre you unbeliever! ), way to keep the intrigue alive! Congratulations to the new Rego! Great use of color throughout the builds (I would say bold, but the adverb doesn't seem to quite match the unusual pastel combinations that dominate the vigs!), and that tower on the last one is insane! Looking forward to seeing how his new-found power sits in Ilazio Moccenigo's hands
  9. Love this writing style! Great job with that sloping path and the fig posing too, Professor (and fleshies? Never thought I'd see the day that I'd see them in one of your builds! ) but I am very much looking forward to more!
  10. Seconded! And that crown in the center of the Eslandolan flag seems to make a statement as well Great choice of colors for the floor too, looks suitably highflown for those toting royalty And where is the grey torso on the guy in the background from? That is really sweet!
  11. Nothing like a rhyme to sway the masses! And these guys have the look too - now I just wonder what Count Lewisham paid them where they got such good republican hearts from
  12. I really like this little vig, and while the King's Prefect's dedication to his country's colors do seem a little extreme, it honestly works great too! Excellent choice of expression for the two plotters planners as well - looking forward to the sequel!
  13. (Oh wait, I'm a judge - I didn't say anything! ) Love the white and green colors here, and the posing - even the broken cannon posing! - is amazing as well; great job fitting such a good looking battle scene on to such a small base!
  14. A massive plot woven by the Moccenigos and the leading families of Varlyrio has once again convulsed the political layout of the realm, and as the De Cioto's and di Carlo's treacheries and machinations came to be household knowledge throughout the guild, the public disdain and execration of those families for the actions of their reign can only be compared to the well-nigh universal detestation of the Baiamonte's at the height of their infamous reign. The new Rego, Ilazio Moccenigo, has promised to rule in peace and justice, and to restore the realm to rest and prosperity, but whether he can keep that promise has yet to be seen. Some of the leading families, at least, have a sharp eye on him and his claims after his hardly secretive recent attempt on the previous Rego's life. But out off the coast, in the Sunken Tavern, some things are stirring which might make that promise and the new Rego's position more difficult to maintain than expected... Varlyrian Family Ranking (update): Leading Family (Rego): Moccenigo, Rego of Varlyrio, architects (@TalusMoonbreaker)Secondary Families: Lords of Baiamonte, soldiery (unclaimed family), Chiaro, merchants (unclaimed family),Third rank: De Fiori, sword-makers (@Garmadon), Amancio, shipmasters (@Rogue Angel), Conzaga, wine-makers (@Basiliscus)Fourth rank: De Cioto, aristocrats and gold-hunters (@W Navarre), di Carlo, merchants (@ZlatanXVIGustaf)Fifth rank: Khaor, cloth and leather merchants, tailors (@narbilu) Sixth rank: D'Gatto, artists and antiquarians (@mccoyed), Waythe, judge and mercenary (@Judge of the Wastelands)
  15. And, a vig from me! Thanks to @W Navarre and @TalusMoonbreaker for inspiring me to get back to building (and backstabbing) in Varlyrio! A night in la Taverna Sommersa:
  16. The door to la Taverna Sommersa creaked open upon its rusty hinges and let in a gusty breath of sea air as one of its frequent customers ambled to a seat in the far corner and ordered a cup of his usual bevanda, leaning back with a comfortable sigh. His eyes were just starting to sag when the sound of a stir and the sight of a figure in a red cloak aroused him. "Peste! There are tables enough in this tavern for half of Varlyrio, can't one be left in peace?" he muttered looking up at the approaching form as it laid a gloved hand on the table. "Il cielo!" exclaimed the young man, setting down his cup with a bang, as he caught sight of the stranger's face. "Can it be you?" "Sure as it is you just where I left you two years past, mio nipote," returned the newcomer with a strong tinge of sarcasmo in his tone. "But where and how have you been all this time? We heard you were lost at sea?" "Infatti, and that I was. And as to how I have been, why, as well as is possible, I suppose, for having spent due anni aboard a filthy nave pirata. But I shan't complain - for here I am, am I not?" The stranger grimmaced, with a hint of subdued power in his eyes, and set down across from his nephew. "It was Xari Spadro then, was it?" inquired Aldacio Amancio. "You are shrewder since I left you," replied the other, "yes. And it was not a week past since he came up to me one day and said, 'Il mio Signore Superiore, how would you like to depart this brigantino bello?' and, thanking me for my stay, had me rowed out and left on the shore of the eastern coast with all the honor, subito! of my rank. Or of my previous rank, peste. Well, we shall see about that presently. And so I have told you how I am here - but now you tell me, for you are in better condition to say than I, mio nipote," said the stranger tossing back his hood - "why?" Aldacio Amancio's shrewd eyes - far shrewder and wiser since his cousin's death - narrowed, and he smiled knowingly as he looked over his revered Zio. "I cannot say, but I have my guess," and he lifted his glass to his uncle's. "Listen, and I will tell you. But first, Al Rego!" Supano Amancio took the toast and quaffed it with a quirk on his lips and set the glass back on the table. "Which?" -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- It's been too long! Here is the first of hopefully a series of Valyrian vignettes to come over the next few weeks Too much going on in Valyrio right now not to get in on it! And yes, things are getting complicated... Also an entry to the 12x12 category of the Summer Joust of course! Lit with Lightaling's custom lights which they were kind enough to send me a bunch of for various projects! Hope you all enjoy, and C&C are welcome as always!
  17. What just happened was that your family appears to have fallen again about as badly as they could fall! - terrible public image seems to be a favorite thing with your storylines And as to the rest - well, I guess you'll just have to wait and see... But I do hope to get the thread updated tomorrow with the new rankings! (too...)
  18. Yep, you can place and licence your build in any Eslandolan settlement Hope you enjoy it, looking forward to your build(s)!
  19. Is it time for Eslandola to change its structure of government?
  20. After years of stagnation under the Colonial Council, Eslandola's politics have suddenly got interesting. King Fernando has done the unexpected once more, and with Count Lewisham now exposed and hanging by his toes, the Colonial Council is scrambling to find it's path again. Will the Council remain in charge of Eslandola's politics or will King Fernando retake the reigns? Or will we see yet another party take control? The future of Eslandola hangs in the balance! Your challenge: support one of the 5 parties listed below by prominently and creatively featuring their color in a build that fits one of the two categories (also listed below). The Parties: Colonial Council--this party represents the status quo. Elections whenever we get around to them, an occasional tax raise, and long-winded comments in the Colonial Council thread. The Colonial Council's color is DARK GREEN. Count Lewisham--despite being temporarily unable to fill his office, Count Lewisham can still count on lots of support from those who have benefited by his handouts and want to see them continue. The Count's color is BLACK. King Fernando--is it time for Eslandola to go back to the good old fashioned monarchy? King Fernando's party longs to see a strong, unified leader in charge of Eslandola's politics once again. King Fernando's color is GREEN. Pnence!--this party calls urgently for monetary reform, clamoring loudly for gwuinees! The Pnence color is GOLD. Tea and Cakes--this party believes that the true power of Eslandola resides in its women! The Tea and Cakes color is MAGENTA. Please note: no matter what party wins, Eslandola will still in "out of character" terms be guided by its leaders, Capt Wolf and Garmadon. This current challenge is meant to determine the "in character" structure of Eslandola's government. Category A: The Leaders Every movement needs leaders. Who is at the forefront of your party? (You may either create a new character or use a current character of your own.) Show us your leader on a 12x12 vignette and don't forget to creatively include your party color! Prize: 3 minifigures and the title Eslandola's King-Maker. Category B: The Vision Every movement has a vision. What would the new Eslandola look like if your party takes control? You have 32x32 studs to convince us that we need what your party has to offer. Ideas include, new parks, monuments, busy ports of trade, libraries or universities, and so forth--and don't forget to creatively include your party's color! You are free to license entries to this category following EGS rules. Prizes: 1st Place, parts pack (below) + free license for your entry. 2nd place, parts pack (below) + free license for your entry. Rules: --One entry per party per category per player. You may enter for as many parties as you like, but you may not enter twice for any party in the same category. --Category winners will be determined by the judges, @Kai NRG, @Garmadon, and @Captain Braunsfeld. These three builders will be able to enter and their entries will count towards party points, but will not be eligible to win. --The winning party will be determined by a point system. Every entry built by an Eslandian counts for 5 points for their chosen party. Every entry built by a non-Eslandian counts as 1 point for their chosen party. We feel that Eslandians ought to have the most say in the decision on how Eslandola's government is structured, but we want everyone to be able to participate. --Third-party parts, string, cloth sails, and digital entries are allowed. --Deadline: September 1st, 6 PM central time. --Post a link to your entry in this thread. You must also specify which party and category you are entering. --Reasonable overhang is allowed for all categories. Let us know if you have any questions in this thread and happy building!
  21. Great color choices and awesome build, mate! The treehouse in the middle connecting everything is perfect, and the use of that baseplate too
  22. That story is hilarious, I am dying! I love all those lemon trees too, wonder what the man in the mask's plan is for them (besides messing up the supply for the entire lemon industry in the new world... )
  23. Lovely lighting! That flag and the fireplace are fantastic, and the stained glass and drinks on the table are sweet as well. Great call making the shelves that tall too!
  24. That was hilarious - we want more!! Maybe we should start building... But that was really awesome and funny, Captain - Crassus Sparrow is a very practical sort of leader Also great to see that monkey on the stage too (he probably writes Cassus' speeches, yes?)
  25. Heya! Any other BoBSers at Brickworld Chicago this year? I've spotted some of Phred's ships (though I've yet to catch the man himself, ) but I'd love to meet up with anyone else there too! If you want a sneak peak at my latest (and largest) BOBS project yet we'd love to see you over at the Innovalug table
