Why are so many people against custom decos?
Dr Leg O Brick replied to B-Lister's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Exactly, though its always nice to hear what others think about your work. I get a lot of stick that I'm not using my creative skills when making a non purist but, am I not, expanding, the box to think in when I think about what I add to a non purist figure, still using my creative thinking? -
Stunning model and an uncanny resemblance to the real thing in T:TDW! I only just watched it on DVD, and thought about how the flying longboats would've made a good set, and you've come along and proved it. Love the curves on the front and back as well, very well executed. Are you planning on making more MOCs based on TDW or TWS?

Why are so many people against custom decos?
Dr Leg O Brick replied to B-Lister's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I'm all for it to a degree. I do it only when I have no choice, almost exclusively with Superheroes. Some people say some of it's unnecessary, I say it isn't. Some people just don't get how important a bolt, or a purple line, or a pair of bracelets are to a character, it is their defining feature in some cases, fundamental. I'll go miles to make a purist fig, but sometimes, that's just not good enough. My own decals are terrible, barely accurate and coloured in by hand, and to a lot of other people, I expect some of them look like trash. But that's because I use a desk lamp, comic pricing stickers, and colouring pencils. I'm a Lego fan not a professional printer! If a custom is sold to the public, I'd expect a top notch print job, and I can understand if someone is frustrated if it looks bad and is bad. But if it's mine then it's mine, I like feedback but if their going to be rude than they can go away. I don't really understand that second part but I guess that's life. I make my figures how I want them, if that fits with what Lego has got then great, if not, I can live with it. -

MOC: Professor Xavier's wheelchair
Dr Leg O Brick replied to Dr Leg O Brick's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thank you all for your kind words! I really appreciate the feedback. I do realise the chair's a bit on the large side, but it's still no bigger than the Jim Lee one in the Lego Marvel video game, or others I've seen around the Internet. I didn't need it, far from it in fact as I now have three Professor X customs (wheelchair, hoverchair, and post cloning X-Men costume), but I thought I'd set myself a challenge, it seemed like fun. I wanted to use different wheels than those I'd seen used to make something unique and different, and I think it turned out alright. I based the chair on two things really, the cover to this pocketbook, for the handle bars and the foot rests: http://ecx.images-am...rQL._SY300_.jpg And the rest from the first X-Men film (that was on TV when I made this, hence the black and grey) If you like, I've got a picture of him next to a minifigure for size comparison. I've got 9-ish superhero MOCs/MODs left to post, so keep an eye out in the coming weeks/months. -
Tis sounds a valiant yet self destructive quest! I see no logic in it, but it will be glorious for some unforeseen reason! To Denmark, my fellow warriors, those SDCC figures will be mine! To the bus stop!

Thought I'd share this with you. I made this for my own custom Professor X minifigure, as I felt he needed more than a hoverchair. I based the design on my own brief experiences using a wheelchair, I tried to get arm rests and feet rests as well as a sturdy construction mixed in, as well as a real-ish scale so him and other figures don't look "strange" in it or next to it. Anyway, if you'd like photographic instructions, I can provide them. Feedback as always is welcomed! This is how it normally looks (The black studs at the bottom are meant to be caster wheels). With the arm and and feet rests folded out. Without him in it. A top view. A bottom view A side view. A back view Thanks for looking!

Star Trek The Next Generation customs

Well, the links above will soon be replaced by pictures as I now know how to upload them. My DS9 crew are more or less done, however, I thought I'd post a teaser pic till I get around to posting them: The Sisko has returned (ignore the dust on his neck) -

Dr Leg O'Brick's Superhero Customs
Dr Leg O Brick replied to Dr Leg O Brick's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks as always! I've made a squad of five SHIELD troopers to pile on to the SHIELD jeep (The agents drive in style, Nick's green flying car.) Dugan follows their uniform apart from the chest plate with the four pips and extra ammo, so expect my squad soon. And I'm glad you like Britain, I was thinking about making the female Captain Britain using the Gymnasts torso from the CMF Olympic series as well. Up next, more stickered torsos and an annoying Government Agent! -

My first non Marvel, Zenith, the superpowered teenage brat, hailing from 2000AD. Zenith. I made the "Z" from cutting the 1 out of a takeaway menu. Hopefully he'll be improved in the future, although I'm pretty happy with how he is. As I realise this guy isn't exactly a-list, here's a link to the costume I based him on: http://revistaogrito.ne10.uol.com.br/jazzmetal/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/zenith2.jpg -
It looks like the "sport" version of the regular one, a one man, quick and speedy, robust version that would "bounce" over any obstacles. Very nice design Hulk_Smash, as someone considering getting a second you've given me a lot of inspiration!

I'm fine with Kre-O, as long as they away from my Lego storage boxes. As a Star Trek fan, if they make anything from pre-2009 Abrams I'd consider reengineering the set in Lego (i.e. getting the set, using the instructions to build a Lego version, and using any Kre-O parts that Lego has nothing like as a last resort).

These are essentially shameless steals from a Marvel comic many years ago. What if Power Man was a girl? What if Wonder Man was a woman? Think about it .... A few better ones will be made soon I hope... -
TUTORIAL Posting deeplinked pictures from the NEW Flickr
Dr Leg O Brick replied to Fugazi's topic in Forum Information and Help
Just seeing if this works with a test image. EDIT: It works! Thank you CopMike! -
Very nice MODOK! I couldn't believe Lego messed up on putting him on a flying chair, not building him into it. Great job! How stable is the construction? I've been posting these in a different topic, but I thought I'd pick some of my favourites that are purist and post them here. Hercules Beast Cable Count Nafaria Executioner

TUTORIAL Posting deeplinked pictures from the NEW Flickr
Dr Leg O Brick replied to Fugazi's topic in Forum Information and Help
Hello, I've finally got round the problem of getting the image uploader icon to work, and I "think" I've got the hang of getting the url's as well. However, when I go to paste what I believe to be the url of an image I get a "this file is not supported by this community" message or something like that. I have no clue about these things, probably something stupid, but if anyone can help it would be great! I have searched for a topic like this but couldn't find one. If such topic does exist, please could the MODs merge of lock this? Thanks all. -
I've made it a point to stay away but I thought I'd add that Amazon UK has the new Marvel stuff available to buy. The Hydra tank and Bank truck arrived today so they are available and not a computer glitch ("cough Iron Patriot cough"). Somebodies most likely already posted this but still, on the off chance they haven't I thought it was worth mentioning.

I'll have a go: Being a Lego fan to me is being part of a great community (as a whole), sharing my ideas, gaining new ones, being creative, making friends, and having a good time. I love Lego because, in this day and age, it's something that teaches kids while they play or socialise with friends. Problem solving, improved dexterity, creative thinking etc. . What I love most about Lego is it's ability to be almost anything if you put you mind to it. One minute it's a car, then a catapult, then a spaceship etc. Hard question. Either Space, City/Town, Castle, or Superheroes. If only had to pick one, It'd be between Superheroes or Space. Hope that helps.
