  1. And we need different rims/tires. And preferably wheel hubs that mimic my turntable mod. Lego needs to make basically just a new rotor for the turntables.
  2. Unless the suspension has really extreme articulation, in which case the binding of the universal joints will be more of a problem than the lack of space.
  3. In an f1 car the suspension compresses extremly little anyway. In any case you want the upper ball to be outside of the rim and the lower as much inside as possible. And of course you want to use unequal length wishbones. Also... in modern f1 cars, the lower wishbones are in the same plane as the driveshaft ;)
  4. Without knowing the concept of your car, i made this: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/k720g9rm2ma91t8/1FmHK-WZb4 Having it 4 stud high creates more problems than it solves. Knowing what kind of vehicle you're going to make and which wheels you intend to use would also help. This suspension has all the correct angles for the steering of course, the universal joint is on the axis connecting the upper and lower balljoint.

  6. The attachment points and dimensions are exactly the same as in the normal lego wheel hubs, but without their drawbacks (slack, thicker center section that limits mounting points).
  7. The finished product does look like something lego could (should) have done. And it eliminates all the flaws of the new wheel hubs.

  9. The 42000 hubs have an incredible amount of slack. That's the issue. The turntables have practically 0 slack. Also, the turntables allow now to mount a liftarm flush against the pinholes, and you don't have to deal with the thick portion between the pinholes, that prevents this on the 42000 hubs. What needs to be done still is to widen the 3 pins a bit, because now, the slack is evident in the pins, that allow the wheel to move slightly, but noticeably. I will explain this in the next video.
  10. In my opinion it's all game, as long as the end product is still recognisable as lego. I try to modify as little as possible, but sometimes it's just necessary.

This audi a6 avant was the worst model i ever made: https://www.dropbox....oum2/8xHAYZ9QAV While it looks good on the surface, this model is so bad because it was extremly heavy (from a time when i did not consider the weight factor in my models), the suspension was awfull and completly incapable of dealing with the weight, the engine was horrible, slow and the whole engine block was twisting while it was running at, 60rpm or something. I have no fond memories of that vehicle. But i learned so much from making it.
  13. The 8880 was the most super lego ever got. It only went downhill from there.
  14. New wheels hubs that have axleholes instead of pinholes and have no slack in the bearing. That would be nice. :)
  15. I still have that car on my desk. It is without wheels, since it needs custom adapters for them. I'll try to make them so i can show the car to the world. It has so many innovative sollutions. It would be a shame not to show it.

  18. Some 5.5 axles with stop do creep immediatelly after exposed to torsion. They're really soft, and i have to test every one before it gets installed into an engine.
  19. Sure, but we cannot have eliptical things in lego. I still think my approact is the closest to real life leaf springs that we can get in lego at the moment.
  20. All valid points, but the solid leaf springs that i use are real leaf springs, they do not damage eithet the plates used for the springs, nor the mounts. In the dropbox link is a subfolder with a smaller version of the leaf springs. Also, the longer the leafs, the softer the suspension. The deformation also happens over a long length of plate, and does not harm the plates. I had leaf springs mounted in the dodge charger model for 2 years (and the model weighed 6kgs. The plates that served as leafs are still straight and undamaged, and that suspension had about 3 studs of travel. Also, another part of the leaf spring suspension is the fact, that no other links are needed to guide the axle, just the 2 leafs.
