Video game reference, and yes, it was that subtle Metal Gear reference. In the show. I was referring to the sets, as this is the set discussion (and it's good to keep said discussions in their respective spots). I was making the point that although there might end up being more female pirates in the show, there is only one (depending on if there's an exclusive this Spring, or Summer sets to look forward to) in set form, being Cyren.
-
I'd give you an internet, but I'm all out right now. Any Video game reference in a Lego set makes everything better (Hurricane Heist, I'm lookin' at you) It's funny, that means that the set would be the I Die Dragon. At least it makes sense thematically. If you ever wanted to know some deep details on each of the Skullkin, get this book. Even though some of its jokes are childish, it's a good read. Yokai (Japanese folklore creatures) disguise themselves as people in order to trick actual people. Yokai (the Ninjago character) wishes to be a human so that he can swim. In the sets, Cyren is the only evidently female Pirate. Keep in mind that even though, in the show, the cultists and ghosts were generic/ambiguous in gender, every single cultist and ghost in the sets had a name, and was designed to look male or female (Bansha being the only one out of both factions).

Nexo Knights on a Scale on 1 to 10
PenPlays replied to Chilly_Productions's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yes. I don't get why you keep wanting to make threads to bash Nexo Knights, Chilly_Productions. It's far too early for any sort of consensus on the theme, as it hasn't even released yet. -
Although they do sound "cooler", they are much like the names of any of the other Ninjago villains. They are each a play-on-words greatly attributing to their respective character's personality. For instance: Frakjaw is a play on "fracture" (the complete breaking of an object, often times a bone) and jaw (he talks a lot). This also could be a play on a potential head injury, a fractured jaw. Mezmo is a play on "mesmerizing" due to him being a Hypnobrai Kozu means "of the tree branches" in Japanese, making reference to him having multiple limbs. In Cryptor's case, his name is a direct reference to a "cryptor." A cryptor used to be a computer tool that would protect an application within a computer (whether legal, or illegal) from being detected or analyzed. General Cryptor's purpose was to do exactly that, to deter the Ninja from reaching the Overlord. Cyrus' (the ghost) name may be base off a character in Chrono Trigger of the same name who is also a ghost and had a knack for fighting. A better, deeper example would be Yokai. Yokai are Japanese ghosts that commonly take the form of humans (something that the Ninjago ghost would love to be). Cyren's name is based off of Sirens, maidens who would seduce pirates to their doom. She's the lady of the Pirates so... These, of course, are small examples, of Lego's character naming prowess.

Keep in mind that those figurines are only compatible with versions of Skylanders specifically developed for Nintendo consoles. Neither Bowser, nor DK, can function in the XBOX or PS versions of the game. That doesn't necessarily mean more money on Nintendo's end either (not that they need it). It's more of a consolation (no pun intended) for Nintendo adopters than a reason to get that console and that version of the game.

Nexo Knights Theme Discontinuation Date?
PenPlays replied to Chilly_Productions's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
You're judging the entire theme based on 5 minutes of animation? This is a toy theme, not a TV show. One does not determine the other, especially if the TV presence is not directly marketed as a commercial. Also keep in mind that some of the jokes in the Pilot episodes of Ninjago were just as childish as Nexo Knights has to offer (for the record, Chima was much, MUCH worse on that front). Eventually Ninjago got it's foot through the door, told the story that was meant to hook kids in, and now it has the ability to continue without having to re-connect with kids, as the theme has already established itself, both in TV and toy form. When it comes to information, there really isn't any on the theme at all. I personally believe that has been done in order not to set a finite window of life, like they did with Chima, as they must have learned something from the latter. No need to be eager for another big-bang theme. Let's actually get the sets in hand before we make any assumptions. Again, Lyichir hit the nail on the head.- 18 replies

Is there some sort of list that I've missed?

The village raid is speculation, and isn't new set news. What is news is that there will be (at least) four new Ultimates in the Summer, and apparently a smaller set wit Axl.

Or, you know... today. Episode 1: Alliance of the Fortrex. Keep show discussion here, but when it comes to sets, I'm totally in the need for a Medieval Village. This episode fuels that desire even more!

Lego Nexo Knights TV Series Discussion
PenPlays replied to DuckBricks's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
... And the TV show is a miniseries... of shorts. Episode 1 is up, called Alliance of the Fortrex. Some odd jokes here or there. Voice cast is the same guys who did Ninjago (and yes that's Vincent Tong, Kai from Ninjago, as Jestro, and Mark Oliver, Garmadon, as the Book of Monsters). It appears that whenever a shield symbol flashes across the screen, that's when the app can interact with the show. It's quite cool, or at least the sound of it is. Does anyone know if the app is available yet? All I've got is outdated devices on hand, so I can't check. -
I was under the impression that Nexo Knights was a given for Dimension, but we won't know until next year. They will most definitely lose money on another MMO if they treat the game like they did their previous ones. If they actually invested in the game to its fullest, then something might work out.
-
To be honest, that's exactly what they need to do. The reason why none of their MMO's have ever succeeded, is because they NEVER advertise them on their central advertising fronts. They also never produce sets for their MMO's or make them a part of a theme that is more for collecting's sake, than gaming's sake (Lego Universe and Minifigs Online respectively). By not only having a massive line of sets, a TV show, a gimmick that features a "gotta-catch-em'-all" mentality, and (what is stated as) a massive mobile presence makes Nexo Knights the perfect choice for creating an MMO after, especially if each physical Nexo-Power uploaded to the Merlok 2.0 App unlocked exclusive Nexo Powers in game. This would also allow for more world building (similar to Chima Online, although hopefully at a faster pace), as well as the chance for fans to fully immerse themselves in the idea of becoming a Nexo Knight themselves. To sum it all up. If Lego actually applied themselves for once in this market (marketing/cost effective/cohesive theme) Lego could make themselves a strong presence in the MMO department.

I just beat Yoshi's Wooly World. Nintendo realized that even though the visuals are different, there was no reason to change the gameplay (tsk tsk, Kirby's Epic Yarn). It's a very slow paced game, and the amount of times you have to replay a level is crazy if you don't use the "view invisible items" patch. The game is very predictable, but stays true to core Yoshi games. The music is not even remotely catchy on (just about) every occasion, and serves as more of an accompaniment, as opposed to a mood setter (on most occasions. , you beautiful thing, I'm lookin' at you). For those of you who are skeptical about the game. Pick it up if you have no other game to play, or need something cute. Remember that there is some bonus stuff at the end. Collect all of the Wonder Wool and Smiley Flowers. The Miiverse Stamps, and Hearts are pointless towards the endgame, and are rigorous to collect unless you really want to complete it (and trust, you've got to want to complete it to go that far). Now once I get these bonuses done, I'm off to Skyward Sword for the fourth time around. An absolutely historical masterpiece!

I'm just glad that other Ninjas are getting new face prints aside from Lloyd!!

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
PenPlays replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Okay. Stop. There is gender. There are boys and girls. How they get things going and have kids is no issue for the imagination. A children's show/toys line will never touch on any of these topics, as it is meant to be implied by adults, and glanced over by kids. Skylor might come back as much as any of the elemental masters would. She, like the other elemental masters, no doubt had her powers returned. Much like Chen's staff, she can only control one element at a time, as was shown in the TV show. If she could combine them, into golden power, she would have used them to escape her father before being used as a vessel. I have just ended both conversations. Please find something else besides these two topics to discuss as they are getting far too heated, as well as straying away from the topic of the thread (mostly the former).- 4,591 replies

Post about Cartoons and Anime you like

I forgot to mention Kill La Kill, Steins;Gate and FLCL. I wouldn't count Steins;Gate as much of an action series, though, as it's more of a mystery series. Also, I primarily do dubbed, as I'm a very slow reader, and hate having to pause. I'm not against sub, though. This knocks out One Punch Man, and Higurashi for me (until a dub surfaces. Can't wait for the former). I had no idea Noragami had a dub, and I'll be checking it out soon. I was afraid of getting into JoJo, as I was having a hard time of what to watch first. Now that you've cleared that up for me... Evangelion has been on my list for a while. Just can't pull the trigger for some reason. I've also been waiting for shows like Akame Ga Kill and Parasyte to get further into their dubs before I dive in. Waiting for Seraph of the End has been an irritating ride. I might start them up, soon, though. The likes of Aldnoah Zero, The Heroic Legend of Arslan (newer one), Spice and Wolf, Shakugan No Shana, and Seven Deadly Sins are also on my list, so it gets really hard to choose. -
My guesses are: Cole's Elemental Dragon-$9.99 Ninja Bike Chase-$19.99 Sky Shark-$24.99 Raid Zeppelin-$29.99-$39.99 Jay's Elemental Dragon-$29.99-$39.99 Tiger Widow Island-$49.99 Misfortune's Keep-$79.99 Keep in mind that Jay Walker One's box has the same length and width as the Batboat set, yet it has a deeper thickness, and another $10 worth of product inside. Jay's Dragon, however does look like it could merit a $39.99 pricepoint, as it's generally the same size as the Titanium Dragon in scale.

Star Wars Constraction 2016 Discussion

Oh, I really hope that they go for more Clone Wars Characters. I'd love Asajj Ventress, if not any of the show's plethora of Bounty Hunters. -

I just recently finished the "Magi" series anime (or what has been made so far): Magi: The Labrynth of Magic and Magi: the Kingdom of magic. It's about as wonderfully whimsical as Fairy Tail, and the use of characters based on the Arabian Nights is genius. The show is delightful, as long as you can get used the main character's voice. All of the main characters are fleshed out and there is so much story potential to be had (as it's an ongoing series, with a third leg on its way after the manga reaches a certain point). Speaking of Fairy Tail, one of the longest over arching stories (like 100+ episodes) finally wrapped up, and it nearly had me in tears, it was so wonderful. Now another long teased threat is rearing its ugly head and I can't help but get ecstatic for what's to come. I need a really good anime to watch once this is over. I need a really good action series (excluding: Gurren Lagann, Code Geass, Future Diary, Sword Art Online, and Attack on Titan. You should watch all of the aforementioned anime, by the way. Especially the first two.) -
Take any minifigure and move their legs into a sitting position. Pose the arms anywhere in front the minifigure so that it doesn't touch its toes. Turn the minifigure's hands so that it can hold such a bar, for example, a lightsaber piece. You will notice that the minifigure's hands cannot fully grasp the bar, and therefore would be considered an "illegal" connection. And technically it's the first Boulder Blaster of 2016 Nya needs a motorbike. I mean this set chalks down a total of four motorbikes for Kai alone. This is aside the fact that Jay has never gotten a motorcycle, and whether or not you would consider Zane's snowmobile from the Fangpyre Truck Ambush set as something similar to a motorbike as well. Although, I must add, Nya is special in the fact that she is still the only Ninja with a water vehicle (City of Stiix) in a readily available set. It's a shame too, as the whole pirate theme would have made us ready for some really cool water vehicles for the other Ninja.

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
PenPlays replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Agreed. If anyone is actually considered the "sixth Ninja" it's Dareth. But seriously, whether we consider Dareth official, or boot him and put Nya in his place, that still doesn't justify Skylor from being a secondary character by definition.- 4,591 replies

What's the Royal Pirate Line? I've seen every episode of Ninjago and I know for a fact that no such thing exists in the show... And how do we know the Pirates are going easy? Have you seen the Skybound Season already?- 4,591 replies

Are Ultra Agents and Ninjago connected somehow?
PenPlays replied to gamejutzu's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
No. I think this thread got drowned in the other threads is all. It's a fun fan theory, true. It would be pretty cool if all of these themes and such were connected (some actually are i.e. Power Miners and Atlantis), but Ninjago is there more or less as its own thing. Sure they make fun references by using designs of actual minigures from other themes, and the hilarious Clutch Powers reference, but I think the whole AgentsXNinjago thing is a little too far-fetched. Take a look at this: The UA Toxikita and Invizable are ordinary law abiders who were infected by Anti-matter's portal powers. Tox and Paleman would have to be born with their powers, having been descended from elemental masters (which is a story requirement for those who are entered into the Tournament of Elements). If they were given the powers, then, technically they wouldn't qualify. Also, to add to the talks on the UA App, it is it's own canon, and does not reference Ninjago... at all. You've got to add up the actual facts before you start pushing your fan theories as fact, might I add. -

That's why I'm pointing out that they are saying that Jay "loves" him. It's in the present tense as if they are letting us know something, as opposed to reminding us. For all we know, Ronin is his daddy, and because of all of the cool "anti-samurai" stuff he's done, Jay loves him because of how awesome he is. I still can't get past that Ronin's colors work well with the Pirates. I wonder if that's deliberate...- 4,591 replies
