For the record, I couldn't agree more. while I understand they might want some balance, I think city figures in the CMF lines are a complete waste. That space that would be better used for a new figure from a retired theme. Especially someone like pizza deliver guy, or pastry chief should have totally been included in a city small set, and NOT prohibited me from getting a new Ice Planet, Pirate or historical figure. What makes the castle themes "Kiddie"? (besides of course being a toy and stating an age on the box) What would make them not Kiddie? While I will refrain from my continued bashing on Nexo Knights, most of the true castle themes have been getting more detailed as they go. Lone exception might be the Knight Kingdom 2 which I felt like was a slight step backwards.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Gomek replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
This is the part that makes me think they are losing money on Bricks and Pieces and it wouldn't surprise me if they are seriously reviewing financials while stopping the bleeding. Many bricklink stores have lots per dollar rules that stop people from ordering 200 10 cent pieces. These types of orders are not worth the time it take to fill them, and thus the penalties. Unfortunately I'm also ordering no more that three of a part, so I understand what a good deal I'm getting on B+P. It certainly sucks that it's down, and if it remains that way I'll likely phone in an order for fear of them shutting down for good. -
DC Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
Gomek replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think Lego's core audience for super hero sets is super hero fans regardless of age. I can't say it enough, but the stuff I like and appreciate now is the EXACT SAME stuff I liked when I was a kid. I'm just a lot more vocal about it now. I always remember watching SuperFriends as a kid (yes I'm that old) and just constantly getting annoyed at all the blatant errors, and just not understanding how you can write a show without ever having read the comics. I 100% agree that Lego is having a very similar issue. They clearly have a ton of people making decisions who don't understand the brands. I think they'd do very well to come on here and read and maybe even answer a post or two. The DC sets have been very lack luster for me, and if you want me to fork over a $200, yes, I need a hall of justice. You want me to get excited about minifigures, yes, give me some more of the Green Lantern Corp, or Kindgdom Come, or Golden Age Super Heroes or Justice League Dark or Swamp Thing, or more Teen Titans. Anything but the same stuff over and over again. Lego can't keep selling more Batman sets and expect people to keep buying them. -
For cases like this I would love for them to just release a set of figures, and let the fan community be inspired to build a theme around it. I think this would really work. Instead of let's say doing a new ice planet theme, release one of those $40 minifigure sets with a ton of different Ice Planet figures and then inspire everyone's creativity.

Ideas for new Lego themes! (Non-licensed)
Gomek replied to The lego fan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Agents and Ultra agents themes were essentially Super Villain sets. While I don't know if super heroes would work as well, I very much liked collecting the Super Villains. No backstory needed. Unless we're talking Captain Harlock, I'd rather steer clear of mash-ups. -
Customer service had to walk me through this, but basically it's a virtual card in apple wallet.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Dream Series Game.
Gomek replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah, that might have been a missed opportunity. It's a shame, it would so easy to republish that figure in the m-tron color scheme. I'd gladly buy a small set just for that figure. -
When the modular scale started it caused me a little bit of issue as I had a large set up in 80's scale. I never thought they messed well and ultimately now have two setups.

Is this supposed to be Marvel's Black Knight? Thanks going to be a tough figure to pull off without a custom molded helmet.

Marvel Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
Gomek replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
If you think that's lazy story telling, I can't even imagine what you think about painting the story into a corner and using time travel to explain it all away. -
LEGO Collectible Minifigures Dream Series Game.
Gomek replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Only that we've gotten a lot of Blacktron and clasic space figures (which I am NOT complaining about) and zero Ice Plant or M-Tron figures. While the lack of space is depressing, over all it's a good series. Only one I have a little trouble with is the Matador. Despite being a meat eater myself, and a fan of cultural diversity, bull fighting is still essentially glory killing and not something I think Lego should involve themselves with. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Gomek replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
But Abe Lincoln and Shakespeare were real people. Just like the women of NASA and every other real person they've done, they should be fleshies. This convention is made for a reason. Yellow is for generic, racially agnostic figures, real people should be done in a reasonable equivalent of their actual skin tone. If you do a Martin Luther King or Billy D Williams figure*, will it look OK as a yellow figure? Trust me, it won't look right, and people will have a not great reaction to it no matter how much Lego claims yellow is racially agnostic. In fact, I can pretty much guarantee it would be a public relations nightmare. Also Lego would be in serious jeopardy of giving the impression that yellow figures represent white people. That's an even bigger PR nightmare. The convention makes sense, and they need to stick with it. Abe Lincoln and Shakespeare being yellow was just lazy, and designers not understanding why things were done the way they were done. (*it is not a coincidence all IPs switched to fleshies after the original cloud city set. You simply cannot imply that Yellow figures are white people. I'm sure there are a lot of people at Lego who regret that set got produced with one fleshie figure and the rest yellow.) PS, and I do agree torsos should not be produced with yellow or flesh tones when possible (to avoid) -
The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
Gomek replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah, I think the Lego movie 2 sets will see even deeper discount. While I generally liked the movie, there was really nothing new besides the mini dolls, which most people who collect mini figures aren't that excited about. I found the vehicles to be meh, and the only really cool set, apocalypseberg was ridiculously overpriced and should have been split up into 5 sets that could have been joined up. -
So, what are Leaf, IP-2 and Zebra?
Gomek replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
yeah, and it's left me very confused. So it's a campaign with possibly one (promotional?) set.maybe? I guess it's better that then some weird theme inspired by 6 year olds. Essentially it looks like Elmer Fudd chasing around a generic CGI bunny. The theme of the commercial seems to be 'Lego inspires creativity' which hardly seems novel. I actually saw this commercial on ABC this mourning (one of the major networks here in the US) so there seems to be a bit of a budget behind it. I don't think I'm going to be the only one left scratching my head. Considering I'm not excited by either Trolls or Minions, it would be nice to have something else to look forward to. -
Why people want perfect box? for investment? or OCD?
Gomek replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My dream is getting a bunch of sets for cheap with smashed boxes, but I feel like no one discounts them for fear of encouraging people to purposely smash boxes in order to ask for discounts. -
Fantasy themes, Elves, and how dolls got in the way.
Gomek replied to jemm13's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I personally put the lack of fantasy squarely at the foot of Nexo Knights and not at all with Elves. Of course that opinion probably has something to do with the fact that Elves is not at all on my radar, in fact, I mostly forget that it's even a thing. -
Ghosts to add to Hidden Side?
Gomek replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I always wanted to add to the Lord of the Rings ghost army, but Lego hasn't produced many figures that would fit there either. That said, I totally display my hidden side figures with my monsters. -
3D Printed Ninjago Props and Weapons
Gomek replied to DuckBricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The hammer is really, really nice. If you decide to do a classic space gun in light gray and/or radio in black, you can expect a PM (of course without knowing how much these things would be worth) -
Don't we all agree that printed bricks are better than stickers and worth the extra cost?

Lego themes that we would like to happen
Gomek replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The theme that we need is anything NOT high concept. Just bring back a normal theme that lets the consumer fill in the blanks. Anything that's castle, space, monster, Egyptian, Roman, pirates would be great.- 451 replies

I always thought it would be cool for Lego to offer small packs of test run mini-figure parts, the same way some of the small custom piece manufactures do. Like, the heck with a special print rewards item. You have a reward item which is 3 test run pieces and you'll have people buying stuff just to rack up rewards points.

Is LEGO getting to inaffordable for kids?
Gomek replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My wife is always telling me that kids don't want physical toys any more. While I don't think that is totally true, there is definitely an effect of all the video games and virtual content. -
Why people want perfect box? for investment? or OCD?
Gomek replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Investment/Resale. I sold a MISB set last year, packed it really well, but someone must have put pressure dead center on the box and dinged it. The guy I sold it to told me this was a big problem, and my first thought was "why?", my second thought was geez, if Amazon had to give me a discount on every dinged box they send me I'd be getting a discount on probably 60% of the sets they send me, and my third thought was there is no amount of packing, besides a create, that is going to stop pressure on the top center of a box from dinging the lego box within. Anyway, I asked why it was an issue, and the guy said he was planning on reselling. -
So, what are Leaf, IP-2 and Zebra?
Gomek replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm not very inspired by the figure on Brickset with the rabbit head but curious just the same. I'm kind worried that this is some type mix of Cloud Kookoo land and Fortnite, I did like Cloud KooKoo land, but I don't need a rehash of that. I also tend to think of 'high concepts' like puns. There is always some idiot who who thinks they are being clever when all they are doing is exposing their lack of real creativity by doing painfully obvious mash-ups.
