  1. Huge! A different slope technique from mine ... I like the bow, that you can see on the MOC pages. And the ship is manned! I often put mor emphasis on the ship itself and leave it to my sons to man and play with the vessel. So this is ready to use, good! I wonder: What will be the weight of this model?
  2. Great stuff - custom made sails, excellent!
  3. I like the armies - and am curious to see which country will come next.
  4. Ho Ho Ho! (What else can I say on Christmas Eve?) Before the year closes, I'd like to show you a MOMOD (which is meant to say My Own MODification) of Lego's Queen Anne's Revenge. This was a nice ship, however, when it came to playing pirates noone in the family showed interest to play with that skull-ladden thing. So, to bring it back to life, there had to be some adaptions: So I added an upper deck (some small cannons were added too). We removed the skulls Changed some more And suddenly you have a beautiful ship! Have a wonderful Christmas time! Captain Braunsfeld
  5. Hi Sebeus I - that was really helpful. Thanks a lot, merry christmas!
  6. By the way, while building the Lion, I have tried to apply a design technique that everybody else seems to use - instead of my slope-based approach. However, it did not look good and lacked stability. Can somebody point me to a "how to" manual how to build ships and frigates using hinges, etc.? Thanks in advance.
  7. My dear fellow captain Becker: If you are referring to the blueish torsos of the crew, they are easily available. Its the modified cavalry from the "Lone Ranger" set. By the way: I ran out of white plates and dark red tiles - otherwise I could have added a sail or two...
  8. Hi Sebeus I - the lion idol is meant to be hilarious!
  9. [pid][/pid] 157A Hello everyone out there! A new ship has been assembled, not applying monkey-driven-design this time, no, this is the HMS LION! And this is where the name comes from: The overall design was much inspired by a guy called Barney (hats off) - but the lion is 100% mine The ship is modular (as all my ship models are) and I tried something new for the captain's cabin: Hmm. Seems some bricks are slightly lose, I'll fix that. What I meant to say was that I was able to avoid my usual rectangular build. Overall, Captain Braunsfeld is quite happy Have a wonderful christmas, yours Captain Braunsfeld
  10. Planning to update Queen Anne's Revenge...

  11. Hi Michaelozzie, thanks for finding a real bomb vessel - obviously these things need to have a longer body/hull. However, I like the idea that everyone has to stay in the back of the ship in order to stabilize the thing :-)
  12. Very nice - I'd love to have so much space! I like the inclusion of the medieval houses in the harbour scene - keep going! All the best Captain Braunsfeld
  13. Hi, probably the Jupiter can be used to escort the bomb vessels: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=88178 Bye
  14. [pid][/pid] 155C Hello again, when I read C.S. Foresters Hornblower novels I was intrigued by the bomb vessels he commands during the time of Napoleon's war against Russia. However, I was never sure what they would look like. So, I have made up my mind. And created huge mortars. And very small ships to carry them.... :-) This is probably historical nonsense, but I had a sufficient amount of fun. So, here they are, the pseudo-british bomb vessels: The mortar is probably too massive for such a small ship: .. and where to put the ammunition? I probably chose not to care :-) Take care, till next time, Captain Braunsfeld
  15. Hello, I have posted a few pirate ships but nothing in this forum yet. This has to change! So, here we go with my first wintery MOC: The Fortress in the Snow. The wind is supposed to come from the left side... There is the Monty Python It's Man trying to get to the entrance of the castle: And behind a secret door (based on an old Adventure set) you will find the Yeti: My younger son has built the tree: Have a nice weekend, yours Sir (Captain) Braunsfeld - edit December 2014 - I would like to claim UoP credits for: Architecture wall techniques Landscape Design snow and ice studs up rocks and cliffs Anthropology Life in Mitgardia
  16. [pid][/pid] 155A Good evening to you all! Some time back I had presented the Jupiter, a creation of my youngest son. And you also may recall that the ship fell from his hands to turn into a pile of bricks... http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=84658 BUT: We have roughly reassembled it, then I was able to purchase a few more yellow slopes and (this time) together we have created the next version: Jupiter 2.0! :pir-sweet: I was able to help to stabilize a few parts, however, we lost some aspects which were realistic. Yes, it (she? he?) is still very yellowish and could also be extended (but that would be 3.0) but we are already sufficiently happy with the result This is where the name comes from: and here is the name: The rudder has remained: next to it there is the ship's oven. The captain's cabin: The lower deck looks like this: ... and everything is overall modular: What we had to skip were several elements, which might not be found missing in the first place: - the lower ends of the masts were found in the lower deck as well - the masts were intended to consist of two parts, which looked great but was very instable - the capstan was also removed from the lower deck: ... it might return in version 3.0. So this is our latest update, please enjoy or give us hints what to improve. Until next time Captain Braunsfeld
  17. now my son wants me to build something similar. ... Excellent ship - well done!
  18. Great stuff! Tom Bombadil on the left side, running away? The new islanders work out great in this MOC. Congratulations!
  19. This is just great! I saw the pictures on flickr - absolutely fantastic. Very inspiring!
  20. Thanks for your kind feedback. Now that this temple has found a few fans, I can share some more details about it. There is a treasure hidden at the back of the temple: with some additional light effects: ... and, ok, my boys were not interested... They are more into "Lord of the Rings" right now... Initially I had thought about hiding the light switch a bit more elaborately, but that will have to wait until the temple is being played with again.
  21. [pid][/pid]237D Hello, hello, hello! Here's something new for our favorite pirate topic: A small harbour fortress. (No monkeys in this one. The "Temple of the Monkey God" sadly did not find too many supporters... ) I have tried to find a suitable background. As you can see, I have probably not succeeded. And this is probably worse: ... well, my hobby is more about LEGO, not about photoshopping... Here some less disturbing views: The model is meant to be combined with the rest of our harbour scene (which I have not yet presented to you). The whole thing is modular: I hope you like it. I'll be back with some more nonsense, er, interesting models
  22. [pid][/pid]238C Hi There, sometime back I had promise to come back with some more "monkey-driven designs". So (drum roll) here it is: The Temple of the Monkey God. How did we come up with this? It all started with a few monkey statues that my (older) son and I developed. Then it made sense to find a place for them. This is why you will find three different types of monkey statues. .. and there is a secret treasure hidden within the main statue: (what else could it be?) Actually, I could still combine it with some minifigs from the latest series. As usual, a MOC is never done. I hope you like this - we're working on more monkey stuff! Yours Captain Braunsfeld
  23. [pid][/pid] Miniscale 4B Hi there, my son has built this wonderful mini model which he named HMS Britain: I hope that he will continue and we'll have a fleet that will look good and will be easier to handle than our usual lego ships. Have a nice evening/Sunday. Captain Braunsfeld
  24. [pid][/pid]236D Hi there, this time I'd like to show you a house that might fit into the pirate topic - the Admiral's home: The building is modular - the interior design will be up to my sons. All the best from Captain Braunsfeld
  25. This is so great! Has anyone praised the cannons before? Should you get tired of your fantastic model, we'd happily take it
